IESCS TOM MILLER SPEAKS OF HIS LONG TERM OPTIMISM FOR GREECE
Ambassador Miller welcomes visit of Greek Prime Minister to Washington DC and points to the United States experience of promoting growth in order to emerge from recession

WASHINGTON DC, AUGUST 19, 2013: During in interview with Voice of America, Ambassador Tom Miller President and CEO of IESC (International Executive Service Corps) and a former US Ambassador to Greece talked of his optimism for the Greek economy. IESCs Ambassador Miller said that, despite the serious economic problems facing Greece at this time, there is ground for optimism long term due to energy exploration off the coast of Cyprus. Tom Miller also told Voice of America, Now there also are opportunities that could lead to the solution of the Cyprus problem. Speaking after the recent visit of Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras to the US, Ambassador Miller spoke of the lessons that the United States experience has for Greece, where austerity alone is not a solution unless accompanied by measures to promote growth. The US President said that this was our experience and it worked really well because our economy is recovering. And this is just what [Prime Minister] Samaras has been telling the Troika [the European Union, the European Central Bank, and the IMF] since taking office. IESC is well placed to advise countries and companies on ways of promoting economic growth. Since 1964, IESC has worked in partnership with local people in 130 countries mainly with the generous support of USAID - designing, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide range market driven solutions for a company or industry. IESCs experts have helped create more than one million jobs throughout the world, leaving behind a legacy of increased wealth and skills, burgeoning private businesses, and strengthened democratic institutions where they are needed most.

International Executive Service Corps (IESC) is a US not-for-profit that sends consultants and volunteers to developing countries whose private enterprises, emerging industries, financial institutions, and governments need its managerial and technical expertise.

Established nearly 50 years ago, IESCs mission has always been Prosperity & Stability through Private Enterprise. We compete for contracts to work with organizations like USAID and the Department of Agriculture, as well as for private companies and foreign governments. But IESC does not hand out charitable aid. In partnership with local people, we design, implement, manage and evaluate a wide range of market-driven solutions along the entire value chain of a company or industry. IESC is client-focused and results-driven, and its experts understand the local markets and cultures in which they operate. IESC remains sensitive to the natural and social environment, particularly the needs of women and children, in all that it does. Given its experience and success, IESC offers significant advantages to US corporations operating in potentially difficult developing markets.
