III. The Promises of God A. Do not fear! Stand fast and see the deliverance of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today (Ex. 14:13a). B. Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you (Deut. 31:6). C. The Lord is the One who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear, do not be dismayed (Deut. 31:8). F. The Lord does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the Lord's (1 Sam. 17:47b). G. As for God His way is blameless; the Word of the Lord is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him (Psa. 18:30). H. Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it (Psa. 37:4-5). I. Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken (Psa. 55:22). J. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in Truth (Psa. 145:18). K. He gives power to the faint, and to them who have no might He increases strength (Isa. 40:29). L. Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary (Isa. 40:31).

M. Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand (Isa. 41:10). N. And it will come to pass that before you pray, I will answer; and while you are still speaking, I will respond (Isa. 65:24). O. Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which do not know (Jer. 33:3). P. The righteous shall live by faith (Hab. 2:4b). Q. Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest (Matt. 11:28). R. All things you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive (Matt. 21:22). S. With God nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37). T. If you continue in My Word, then you are truly My followers; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8:31-32). U. I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand (John 10:28). V. The Holy Spirit...shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you (John 14:26). W. Eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither has there entered into the minds of men, the things which God has prepared for those who love Him (1 Cor. 2:9). X. There has no testing taken you but such as is common to humanity; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tested beyond what you are able, but with the testing will provide a way of escape, that you may be able to endure it (1 Cor. 10:13). Y. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31). Z. For God so love the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). AA. He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him (John 3:36). BB. Casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you (1 Pet. 5:7). CC. I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you (Heb. 13:5). DD. And He shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death; neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things have passed away. (Rev. 21:4) EE. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you (Matt. 6:33). FF. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:6-7). GG. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Romans 8:1). IV. The Mechanics of the Faith Rest Drill A. Learn the promises of God! B. Claim one of the promises of God which applies to your problem! C. Believe the promise of God by applying it to the problem that you have (Heb. 4:1-3)! D. Be patient and wait for the Lord to come through for you in His time (James 4:7-8)! E. Knowing the promises of God + Believing the promises of God + Resting in the promises of God = Faith Rest Drill! F. The believer must mix the promises of God with his own faith in the Faith Rest Drill (Heb. 4:2). G. The Faith Rest is Gods provision for us in time. V. The Sabbath Rest

The word rest is the same Hebrew word as Sabbath. It is a moment by moment Sabbath. There is only 1 way to get into this place of rest and that is through faith! In order to enter this Sabbath rest, we must get hold of the promises of the Word of God, and we must claim them by faith! The believer cannot please God without faith or trusting in His promises (Heb. 11:6)! The children of Israel failed to please God because they did not have faith or trust in Gods promises (Heb. 3:7-19)! For the unbelief, the children of Israel were disciplined by God and died in the wilderness (Heb. 3:16-19)! God had provided the children of Israel with everything, and yet they did not have faith in Him. God had provided: 1. Deliverance from the slavery of Egypt. 2. The way through the Red Sea. 3. The blood of the atoning lamb. 4. Guidance during the day with the cloud and the pillar of fire at night. 5. The Tabernacle, Holy Days, and the Levitical offerings. 6. A seventh day called the Sabbath when they could rest. God had provided them shoes, clothing, food, knowledge of how to fight war, deliverance from their enemies, deliverance from their problems and difficulties. God was faithful to them for 40 years, and yet, they still complained! We are to be afraid of doing what they did which is not trusting in the promises of God (Heb. 4:1). Everything in the believers life and experience by way of power and strength and ability and testimony comes from this moment by moment rest. Without rest, we have absolutely nothing in the spiritual life! God is our power! Without trusting God, we are powerless! There is no peace and satisfaction until we move into this Sabbath rest which He has provided us from eternity past. This rest is moment by moment! The Sabbath rest is the very center of His Plan for us! Just as in the eye of a hurricane, there is quiet and peace, so is there quiet and peace in the midst of our troubles when we operate in the Faith Rest Drill!

VI. Waiting on the Lord A. God sometimes takes everything away from us so that we will understand who the Source of everything is. B. God is the source! C. He might have to make us so miserable before we realize this important principle. D. The Lord will not let you down. E. The Lord has given us the means by which we can solve our problems through the Problem Solving Devices. F. The Lord provides for all our needs in His timing, and not ours! G. We are to be patient and wait for Him! H. David learned this principle (Psa. 40:1-4)! I. David understood that the battle is the Lords (1 Sam. 17:47). J. Wait in the Bible always means faith. K. We are to keep on trusting in Him! L. The Faith Rest Drill requires the believer to wait on the Lord.

M. N. O. P.

Everyone is lacking something in their lives. God wants you to trust Him to meet those needs in your life. We are to rely on God. God says that we have Him (Col. 2:10a).

VII. The History of the Faith Rest Drill A. Colossians 1:16 says that the Lord Jesus Christ before the foundation of the world provided for everything we might need in this life through logistical grace and our escrow blessings. B. God has a Pre-Designed Plan for every Church Age believer. C. This Plan was designed before the foundation of the world. D. The history of the Faith Rest Drill goes way back to the creation (Heb. 4:4). E. In Hebrews 4:4, all His works refers to the work of creation! F. The Lord Jesus Christ created everything in the universe (John 1:3; Col. 1:16; Heb. 1:10). G. In Hebrews 4:4, when it says that the Lord rested on the seventh day from all His works, does it mean that He was tired? Of course not! H. When it says that He rested it means that there was nothing left to do! I. His work was complete, finished! J. The Jews were told to rest on the seventh day as a memorial that the Lord had provided everything for them (Ex. 16:23-29; 20:8, 10-11; 31:14-16; 35:2-3). K. The Sabbath was given to the Jews to remind them of Gods faithfulness and that He had provided everything that they would need in life! VIII. Failure to enter the Sabbath Rest

A. The majority of the Exodus generation failed to enter Gods rest because they did not trust God and His promises (Heb. 4:5-6)! B. Only 2 people and their families entered into Gods rest, Joshua and Caleb! C. Unbelief was the reason why the majority failed to enter Gods rest! D. The Exodus generation was given the greatest Bible teacher in the Old Testament, Moses, and yet they failed to perceive, metabolize and apply his message from the Lord! E. The next generation after the Exodus generation also failed under the leadership of Joshua (Heb. 4:8). F. They failed to conquer the land of Canaan as commanded by the Lord. G. They failed to enter in by claiming the promises of God. H. They failed because they chose to fail! I. Just like we fail because we choose to fail! J. Believers dont enter Gods rest because they choose not to use the provisions that God has provided for them from eternity past. K. They fail to use the Faith Rest Drill. L. Our relationship with God began when we believed on His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Acts 16:31). M. Part of that relationship is the Faith Rest life! N. The Faith Rest life: 1. Mixing the promises of God with our faith. 2. Claiming the promises of Gods Word. 3. Having the peace of God which surpasses all understanding (Phil. 4:6-7)! O. Those who believe Gods Word will enter His rest (Heb. 4:3). P. Hebrews 4:4-9 shows that the Faith Rest technique started when man was created. Q. God had provided a rest for man. R. Even though man sinned, the rest continues to be perpetuated. S. Our faith starts at the Cross, and must grow as a part of the Faith Rest life.

T. As the Romans would say, He who does not advance, goes backward! U. Losers fail to enter into the Faith Rest life! V. Winners enter into it! IX. Characteristics of the Faith Rest Life A. Faith (Hebrews 4:10) 1. This faith is perpetual and continuous. 2. It is a faith which is often called in the Bible, patience! 3. Patience in the Bible refers to: a. Continual trust. b. Keep on believing the promises of God. 4. Faith is described in Hebrews 11:1. 5. You cant please God without faith (Heb. 11:6). 6. We get faith by hearing Bible Doctrine (Rom. 10:17)! 7. If you keep on claiming the promises of God, and mixing them with your faith then you will enter into Gods rest, and stay there! 8. You must claim the promises of God if you want to be a person who has courage in a crisis. 9. Believers who use the Faith Rest technique will not fall apart in a crisis! 10. The Faith Rest life is the ability to derive strength from the peace which comes through simply trusting in Gods promises that are found in His Word! B. Diligence (Hebrews 4:11) 1. Diligence means persevering application. 2. Diligence is persevering in applying the Faith Rest technique to your own life! 3. We are to be persistent and to persevere through claiming the promises of God. 4. The word diligent refers to the believers mental attitude! 5. They dont quit on God! 6. They dont stop trusting in the promises of God! C. Knowing the Word of God (Hebrews 4:12) 1. There can be no Faith Rest life apart from knowing the Word of God! 2. The Word of God must be the object of your faith after salvation! 3. The object of our faith at salvation is the Lord Jesus Christ! 4. After salvation, it must be the Word of God! 5. We must believer the Word itself in the Faith Rest life! 6. The Word of God is God (John 1:1-2)! 7. It is the thinking of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16). 8. The believer needs to understand Gods Word from several different standpoints: a. Dispensations b. Doctrine c. Promises. 9. There are 5 things about Gods Word here in Hebrews 4:12: a. Living: The secret to living and life is the Word of God! b. Active or powerful: The Word of God is divine omnipotence. c. Sharper than any two-edged sword: Gods Word stabilizes us! d. Piercing: The Word of God hits all of us hard and corrects us! e. Able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart: The Bible is the judge of our thoughts which are invisible! D. Divine Inspection (Hebrews 4:13) 1. God knows what we are thinking all the time. 2. Gods Word judges our thoughts (Heb. 4:12). 3. The Faith Rest life involves continuous inspection of how we think.

4. God cares about our thoughts because the Faith Rest life involves the way that we think! 5. The Faith Rest technique has to do with the way that you think. 6. Only God can look into our minds (1 Sam. 16:7)! 7. The Faith Rest technique will give us peace of mind! 8. The Faith Rest technique was designed by God to give us perfect happiness at all times, inspite of our circumstances! E. Witnessing (Heb. 4:15) 1. The way that you handle difficult circumstances is a great witness to others. 2. If you live in the Faith Rest life, you will be a great witness for Christ! 3. The believer who handles difficult circumstances with the Faith Rest technique will be a great witness for the Lord Jesus Christ! 4. Every believer has been given the responsibility of witnessing for Christ under their Royal Ambassadorship! 5. We are to present the Gospel to the unbeliever! 6. The life of the believer is his greatest witness! 7. The believer who is under difficult circumstances and handles it fantastically through the Faith Rest drill will get the attention of the unbeliever who might be searching for answers to their problems! 8. The way that you handle your problems with the Faith Rest drill could be used by the Lord to lead someone to salvation! F. Testing (Hebrews 4:15) 1. The Faith Rest drill involves testing. 2. Athletes know that in order to build up muscles that they have to be tested! 3. The same thing holds true in the spiritual realm. 4. You lift greater weights so that you will become stronger! 5. The same principle applies in the Faith Rest life! 6. Your faith muscle wont get stronger unless it is tested. 7. It wont get bigger and stronger unless God applies greater weight and pressure to your faith muscle! 8. Your faith will be constantly tested so that you may become strong. 9. Many of our problems are designed to test us! 10. God constantly permits the believer to be tested in order to see if they will continue to trust Him, will we claim the promises of God? 11. Many problems come about to test us to see if we will claim the promises of Gods Word and operate in the Faith Rest life. 12. God wants us to experience the power of His Word, therefore, He will continually test us as to the use of His Word! 13. We will alway have problems in life. 14. Every Christian sooner or later will face some kind of crisis. 15. Will you believe Gods Word and trust in it? 16. Will you claim the promises of God in a crisis or will you panic? G. Prayer (Hebrews 4:16) 1. Prayer benefits the believer. 2. The throne of grace speaks of the fact that the believer under the Royal Priesthood can pray directly to the Father (John 16:23)! 3. We are to pray constantly to God the Father for our needs. 4. We are to have confidence that He will come through for us. 5. Prayer is a throne of grace because we dont earn or deserve the privilege and the oppurtunity of God directly to the Father in prayer. 6. God has made it possible through the Lord Jesus Christ for us to come to Him with confidence in prayer. 7. Mercy is grace in action.

8. 9. 10. 11. 12.

It is God coming through for us in time of need. We need something every moment that we are living on this earth. Prayer and the Faith Rest drill come together to form a basis of power for the believer! The Filling of the Spirit is the source of power in the Christian life. The Faith Rest drill is the means of utilizing that power!

X. Waiting on the Lord A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H. I. J. K. L. M. There is no problem that Bible Doctrine cannot solve. The issue is not your problems, but Gods Word! There is nothing that we cant handle in life if we use the Faith Rest drill. God will not allow us to be tested with more than we can handle (1 Cor. 10:13). He knows exactly how much pressure to be placed upon us so that we will grow spiritually. We are to be occupied with the Lord Jesus Christ and not with our problems (Heb. 12:2)! We are to be occupied with Person of our Lord and His Work on the Cross for us! We are to get our eyes off ourselves and on the Lord Jesus Christ. God gives power to the weary (Isa. 40:29). God will strengthen you through His Word. Every Church Age believer has been given 100% divine power at the moment of salvation. Waiting in the Bible refers to faith. There are 5 Hebrew words for faith: 1. Amen: to lean on God 2. Batah: to trust, to pick up your problems and slam them on the Lord (Batah comes from a wrestling term) 3. Hasah: to take refuge, to fless as a bunny, to hide like a bunny in the cleft of a rock (the believer is to hide in the Rock, the Lord Jesus Christ) 4. Yahal: to trust in extreme pain 5. Qawa: to be a strand of rope twisted into a great rope, and therefore made strong, trust (Isa. 40:31) N. Those who wait on the Lord will keep on trusting Him. O. We are all weak little strands, but if we keep on trusting in the Lord, we will become a gigantic powerful rope which nothing can break.

XI. Divine Power A. B. C. D. E. F. G. H. I. J. K. L. M. N. The believer is to exchange their human power for divine power. This is done through the Faith Rest drill. The believer should depend on Gods Word and not their own thinking. The power of God depends upon believing Gods Word, waiting on the Lord and habitually waiting on the Lord. The believer should keep on believing Gods Word and continually trust in the Lord, no matter how bad the circumstances. The believers emotions are their worst enemy in a crisis. The believer needs to think under pressure. Emotions are useless in a crisis. Courage is the ability to think in a crisis. The Faith Rest drill stabilizes the believers thinking after the initial shock of a disaster. We need divine power in a crisis and not human power. We need divine viewpoint and not human viewpoint which is nothing more than satanic viewpoint. God has the power to solve our problems and meet our needs. The Faith Rest drill, the moment by moment Sabbath, is the means revealed by God the

Holy Spirit whereby we claim His infinite power for our every need in life. We trust in the Lord and wait on Him by knowing His promises and believing them! The Word of God says in Isaiah 40:12 that God marked off the heavens by the span! By the span is the Hebrew word zeret (zeh-reth) and actually means little finger. If the Lord Jesus Christ marked off the heavens by His little finger, dont you think that He can take care of your little problems and mine? He created the universe, dont you think He can solve your problems? God is omnipotent and if Gods omnipotence can solve our problems, then we should: 1. Keep on waiting on the Lord! 2. Keep on trusting in the Lord! 3. Claim the promises of the Word of God! 4. Use the Faith Rest technique! W. You will glorify God by using His Word to solve your problems! X. Hebrews 11:6 says, And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Y. Hebrews 10:38, But my righteous one shall live by faith (Bible Doctrine)!
