Please be informed that DMH will send an e-mail message to all North American 1199 Panigale Customers regarding the below information. Ducati feels that it is necessary to inform our 1199 Panigale Customers about new opportunities to upgrade their motorcycles. The upgrades will provide more powerful engine response at intermediate rpm and improve riding comfort, due to these latest developments: New engine ECU software Final drive 41-tooth rear sprocket type-approval Heat-guard kit.

The upgrades required to obtain enhanced engine performance at intermediate rpm are the following: 1) New engine ECU software (as described in TSB-12-005 New Engine Control Unit Software).Please remember that this engine control unit software flowed into production starting from the following frame numbers: First 1199 Panigale frame number w/new ECU software Country version From frame no. Name of new ECU software CAL ZDM14BPW7DB010313 J01100020204.mot CDN ZDM14BPW7DB010361 J01100020204.mot Note This intervention can be performed under warranty, refer to upgrade campaign TSB-12-005 New Engine Control Unit Software dated 12/4/ 2012. 2) 41-tooth final drive rear sprocket type-approval extension. This sprocket features two more teeth when compared to the standard 39 tooth sprocket. When replacing the 39-tooth sprocket with the 41-tooth part, it will also be necessary to update the engine ECU software with a new version, available as an ECU map update through the DDS 2.0. This engine ECU software will also be compatible with the 39tooth sprocket. Utilization of the new sprocket will also require installation of a longer drive chain.

Note This intervention is not compulsory. Should the owner request the new sprocket they must purchase it. Please be informed that the 41-tooth rear sprocket, the corresponding drive chain and the specific ECU software will be available from the end of March at a discounted price. For further details please refer to the Service Bulletin that will be released by the end of March. The upgrade improving the riding comfort, especially in the warmest weather and in the day-to-day use of the motorcycle, requires installation of the suitable kit including: A double and wider cover for the vertical cylinder exhaust manifold (A) A new RH cover for vertical cylinder head (B) A new LH cover for vertical cylinder head (C)

Note In cases where the bike is equipped with the Ducati Performance complete exhaust system kit or silencer kit, it will be possible to install a wider cover (the external one being in carbon) for the vertical cylinder exhaust manifold (D), which is available separately from covers A, B and C.

Note: Though upgrades concerning riding comfort are not compulsory, the customer can request them and they can both be performed under Warranty. When installing the kit for Ducati Performance complete exhaust system, the customer must provide suitable evidence of kit purchase (attach invoice for purchase of the kit or invoice of bike, if it was purchased with exhaust kit installed to warranty claim on DCS); for further details, please refer to the upgrade campaign TSB that will be released at the end of February. All 1199 Panigale currently being assembled at, and shipped by, DMH to any destination have already been fitted with the new vertical cylinder head cover and exhaust cover kit. Dealers can upgrade any bike in stock during PDI. As this is NOT a safety recall campaign bike warranty activation will not be blocked. For further information please see previously communicated Memo- Heat Shield Upgrade. Ducati Performance complete exhaust system or silencer kits in our warehouses have already been upgraded with the new heat guard. If you have any in stock, please upgrade them during PDI.

In line with tradition, the development and updating of such a prestigious model never ends; we're excited ahead of the upcoming sporting season that will see the 1199 Panigale debut in the Superbike championship and renew its efforts in the Superstock championship, where the differences between your bike and the race bike are truly minimal. This development work, which is consolidated with the launch of the 1199 Panigale R, has allowed us to obtain a series of solutions that we are pleased to make available to you from the end of February, to give you - as we do with every Ducati rider - important updates to help you make the most of the best twin sport bike of all time. We have developed solutions to ensure an increase in mid-range power, in particular: a new electronic engine mapping, which also optimizes the Quick Shift system the chance to use a Z41 rear sprocket, to shorten the final ratio.

These innovations mean that you can experience even better performance, when riding on the track, from the Ducati Performance exhaust that you have already bought or will decide to install. And that's not all: if you want we will fit your 1199 Panigale, free of charge, with a new heat shield on the vertical cylinder and exhaust system, to improve comfort especially in hot weather and during daily use.
