Dear Friends in Christ,

A year has passed, never to be lived againi

Your help has *lived' in Korea!

Thank you so much for your faithful support to me and many other helps during 19671 I hope that each of you is well and happy in Christ, to begin anew.
The end of *67 was spent (for me) thus:

1)

Bro. Joe Carman's revival meetings in Taejon (the first beginning Oct. 23 to

the 27th, held in Taejon Wedding Hall, 45 were baptized in the river at the close.
Later meetings were at U-Chum Dong Church in Dec. and at Sun Wha Dong Church in
early January, also, he had many other speaking contacts in Taejon.

2.

2) Meanwhile classes at Korea Bible Seminary were finishing up for the coming
winter vacation (beginning Dec. 19).

3) And the times when Bro. Joe's meetings were elsewhere, the regular Tues. night,
Thurs. and Friday night Bible classes and the Thurs. and Monday night English classes continued. Also spasmodic Korean Language study. ( I released ail evening classes most of the time during the Taejon meetings so that the students and I
could attend and/or help.)

4)

Then up to the winter vacation, I was teaching two hours weekly at Chung Nam

University and two to three hours weekly at the Central Intelligence Agency.

Good News! On Nov. 26 I baptized two of the student nurses, Miss Lee and Miss U, into Christ. The Holy Spirit's work was also evident in Bro. Carman's meetings
throughout Korea, from, which over 1,000 baptisms resulted.

they are meeting out in the cold. I wonder if any of you would like to help with funds for a new building? The situation hasn't been helped any by the fact that Chulla Nam (South) Do (Province) and parts of Kyung Sang Nam Do and Chulla Puk Do are hard hit by famine (wouldn't you like to help by sending funds for our brethren there?) As long as I'm telling of the needs; funds are needed for the Christian Middle School at Chang Ho Wun (it still has only dirt floor and no heat, also the teachers are extremely underpaid) and funds are needed for Eden Orphanage (which has received more children and lacks about 70 sponsors for all the children).
In this new year, will you please pray for me, for my parents John and Jane Hill

and family, and especially for the Holy Spirit's Work here in Korea. May our own United States and Canada, by God's mercy and grace and your godly
efforts, remain great. May we all remain faithful to Jesus jChrist as co-laborers.

Most of them came ftom Eden Orphanage at Nonsan,

"because of over-crowded and hard conditions there.'

The two oldest boys, Pak Con Shin and his little brother Pak Chun Shin, came from
paralyzed and unable to care for herself or them (the father passed away)*
The children (who are, by the way, aged 4 to 6 not counting Oon Shin and

the far (northeast of Taejon) village of Tangjin, where their mother is aompletely

Chun Shin) are getting fatter, are playing well and seem healthy for the most part.
Their day begins at 6i30 a.m. when they rise early. A wave of chatter reaches my ears in the next room. After dressing they wait in line to wash hands and faces. Then they stand dutifully to have their hair brushed. By this time "Teacher Soo Young" has come. The children listen eagerly to Bible stories and lessons, learn to

sing Bible songs (they know many) and recite under her able direction.
Miss Kim Soo Young, one of the fine Korea Bible Seminary girls, teaches them every
morning and evening and in return receives her meals and a small amount of money
each month.

With your help, we can provide the much needed milk, protein (meat or egg),
vegetables and fruit daily, as well as rice. Some of the children are suffering from malnutrition or have body conditions which are a result of it. The World Vision Clinic here in Taejon provides free medical aid, for which we praise God
and them.

Oon Shin and Chun Shin enjoy attending the nearest primary school and are

learning quickly (despite being in a classroom of around 76 children a grade).

Both boys like art and arithmetic. They also enjoy the cold-water shower we have

in the present quarters-to them, it is nerw and different. Twice a week, bath water is heated for all the children and their soiled clothes are replaced with clean, freshly
ironed ones. A real treat for the children is to see various slides the Hills

(missionaries) have accuimilated.

Soon it will be time for the orphans' camp, sponsored by the Christian Mission to S. Korea. This camp has been mainly for the Eden Orphanage children, but of course

this time our children here (orphans) aged 5 yrs. and over can attend.

It will be a

special time of Bible learning, training, fun and fellowship. Not much has come in to finance this camp, but we're praying the Lord will provide.
We have had word that the Frank Johnston family may be coming as early as

August, to do evangelisticcwork here. Since they will be needing a mission house, we must begin on another building for the orphans immediately so that we can relinquish the present one. The new building will be more suited to the 17 children. Blueprints have been drawn, and they are now being approved by the Korean Government.
Will you help?

We are thankful for the able and loylng care of helpers Urs. Eiia, Poo Coon

(oook and nurse), and Hisses Tu, Moon Ja (personal oare of the children) and Gho, Sun Hee (washer and ironer). Mrs* Kim is a deaconess at theSun Wha Bon^
Church of Christ, and Miss Tu and Miss Cho are fine Christian young ladies

July - Septembeir
Dear SVlends,

There are so many things to tell you that I hardly know where to begin, "but
here goes,

About the nenr orphans* hornet many have contributed so there remains only about $250,00 to be paid on the building itself. These donations have come throu|^ Mrs. DeBar directly to the Christian Mission to S. Korea, but were designated for the orphans* house. The house will soon be finished, they are plastering the inside walls now and beginning to put the floors in. The livingroom will be painted p^ink

(3 walls) and beige (l wall). The ohiIdrens*^rooms will be light blue, the kitchen a pale green, the helpersS room to the right of the kitchen will be pink, and the directors* room will be blue and beige or pink and beige (I haven*t decided yet.)
I let the cook, Mrs. Kim, decide what color for the kitchen, and let Moon Ja decide . the colors for the kids* rooms and Cho Sunee decide the color for the helpers* room, they were pleased about that. Yesterday Dad, the contractor and I went down-town and picked out the three toilet stools for the bathrooms. I told the helpers to wash up all the blankets, that we were going to make sheets and start out by protecting the blankets. It is already getting quite cool in the evenings. So soon I nnist buy the muslin uptown. It will take about $1.30 per sheet. Aunt Jane has given the kids a few of Tina*s and Danny's outgrown clothes, which helps alot.
The children reallyy need socks, winter underwear, coats, and gloves^, and

pants. Also, sweaters, coats, etc. The little boys have worn out the seats in several pairs of pants and they are beyond repair.
You can see by the floor plan that we don't have enough storage space, so
we will need to build a little storehouse in back, which will cost about $100.,

Lord willing. V/e can't afford to put the 2nd story on the house, and if we build a little storehouse out back, this will relieve the congestion.
Dad and Aunt Jane will sell their present old and feeble but still usable

electric refridg to the orphans. Besides the refridg. we will need a sofa of some kind, a desk for Oon Shin and Chun Shin to do their homework on, a desk and bed for the director's room. May the Lord*s will be done in all these things. We want to put substantial legs on the dining table which is leg-less at the present, so the
kids won't have to eat smak-dab on the floor, eating in that position seally isn*t

good for anyone, when one has to scrunch over.

This last Sat. Night I cut the boys' hair using Aunt Jane's haircutting kit.
It sure is wonderful of her to let me use i t . .

I'm now teaching English formally to the 5 yr. olds and two oldest boys, four nights a week, and they are learning fast.

David and Judy Merwin asked me to preach to one of their congregations in town. Praise God, three young women stood to claim salvation after I had given the invitation to repent and be baptized, Mr. Merwin said he's going to baptize them.
The little orphan children appreciate your fine help. to go, health-^ise, but are improving. Thankyou for all of your help and prayers.
In His care,

They still have a ways
