Material Safety data sheet

Hazards Identification
Indigestion: Not a probable route of exposure. If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Skin: Molten material will cause thermal burns. Eyes: Mechanical irritation only Inhalation: Avoid breathing dust and fumes as fine particles can be retained in the lungs

First Aid Measures

If exposed to fumes from overheating, move to fresh air. If symptoms persist consult a doctor Wash skin with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist consult a doctor Flush eyes with water. If symptoms persist consult a doctor If Molten acrylic contacts the skin, cool with cold water. Do not attempt to remove material from skin. Obtain medical attention to burn Chronic effects: Not considered toxic Medical conditions generally aggravated by ACRYLIC. No data is available to confirm or address medical conditions affected

Fire Fighting Measures

Flash ignition temperature: 304oC (580oF) Fire/Explosion hazards: Under fire conditions, acrylic may decompose to form flammable and or explosive mixtures in the air. Hazardous combustion: When heated to decomposition, Acrylic emits acid smoke and irritating fumes. Irritating the eyes, respiratory system and skin. Fire fighting instructions: Fire fighters and other people exposed to Acrylic should wear FULL protective clothing including self contained breathing apparatus. Fire fighting equipment should be thoroughly decontaminated after use. Extinguishing: Water, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, or appropriate foam

Accidental release measures

Clean up by sweeping or vacuuming to prevent falls

Handling and Storage

Use reasonable care and caution when handling

Personal Protection
Eyes: Safety glasses are recommended to prevent particles entering the eyes when machining, gluing and grinding acrylic Hearing: Ear plugs/ear muffs to be used when noise using machinery Skin: Protective gloves are required when handling hot Acrylic. Also long sleeve cotton shirt and pants required when handling molten polymer Respirator: None required under normal processing. When laser cutting, use respirator and ensure adequate ventilation
