Anish Dutta Oh are you a sensible commentor with a brain to boot? Yes, of course you are. I just read a post of yours here yesterday (this one) that made so much sense, everybody was stunned into dumbstruck agreement. Oh wait, I didn't. You posted nothing sensible here yesterday. Or the day before. Or the week before. Or the fookin' month before. You sir, are a true fan's fan and analyst. You are FIIOB's resident Arindam Chaudhuri. A wounded sepal encompassed by diligent pupils kept humming tunes echoing from lakes to the hills The trod blades of grass waylaid yet never insipid played the distant bugle as cupid watched pleased The rivulet reverberated of a melody ethereal

With the petals in its ale reminiscent of sensuous appeal The rocks bleached the water further the task indeed ardous Strummed the violin in the east sumptuously melodious

The descending twilight blurred the vision obituary The hymns sounding soothing yet melancholy As the crevices in the tree trunks creaked The duets of love left the souls soaked

As the wing hassled the oak branches sighed The forest rang aloud with twigs happily entwined The season of foreplay was at its prime as the leaves gestured to the couples it was time

"If your current installation is screwed a repair install might be more appropriate which doesn't require a re-format." but if the OP does need to format C and the machine is not an OEM set-up, then it can be done this way ..... formating the C: System partition is done while Win is not running. boot up with your WinXP Install CD, hit enter to boot from that CD, and at the first blue screen that appears (after the loading of all those files) >>>> choose Repair by entering R in the keyboard. This will bring up the Repair Console. Select which operating system, then enter your Admin password (if none, just press <ENTER>), then type MAP and hit <ENTER>, you will then see your partitions listed. Then type in FORMAT C: and hit <ENTER> There is a space between "FORMAT" and "C" it will format C: with the file system (FAT 32 or NTFS) that is presently used. remember to BACKUP any of your important data that's on C: first, before you shut Windows down to reboot for formatting. Your other partitions will remain intact, but you should consider doing a BACKUP of those other partitions too, just in case. it wont hurt. EDIT: and Stuart you are correct in saying that a "repair" could be considerd, if needed on C: before the last resort of formating it. also, the original poster should be aware that some progams in other partitions may have some of their files stored in C: by default and once C: is formatted, those programs in other partitions may no longer work. .
