MECHANICAL HANDLING REQUIREMENTS Mobile crane is expected be used as the prime means of lifting and transporting equipment around

the site. Where it is not feasible to use mobile crane, items will be transported around the facility by the use of crane truck and forklift. Mobile lifting cranes or trolleys shall be used for further lifting beyond the reach of the overhead crane to transport equipment components and parts to workshop or for loading onto trucks for off-site removal.

LAYDOWN AREAS Laydown areas shall be provided where equipment may need to be landed and such be dedicated for this purpose. Laydown areas shall be of sufficient dimensions to permit the handling/movement of equipment and incorporate adequate space for the involvement of personnel in mechanical handling operations. Laydown areas shall be rated for the equipment that may be moved onto them.

ROTATING MACHINERY Larger packaged equipment such as gas turbine driven compressors and gas turbine driven electrical generator will be located in a dedicated building that shall be provided with a permanently installed overhead gantry crane of sufficient reach and capacity so that all equipment can be accessed for maintenance.

Smaller machinery such as pumps and motors shall be accessed from suitable mobile lifting equipment or by runway beams and hoist or pad eyes/beam clamps.

VESSELS / COLUMNS / FILTERS / TANKS with Internals Vessel man way covers weighing greater than 25 Kg shall generally be provided with a davit arm arrangement. The weight of each section shall not exceed 25 kgs. Lifting beams/hoist are to be used for handling activities, particularly on vertical vessels. Davits shall be provided on the vessel heads. Filters shall have platforms and access suitable for removal of units.

FIRED HEATERS/ WASTE HEAT RECOVERY UNIT (WHRU) Provision shall be made for individual tube removal from the fired heater/WHRU, using a mobile crane and temporary facilities.

VALVES AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT Maintenance of valves, actuators, pressure relief valves, blind flanges and associated equipment, where those exceed 10 diameter or 25 Kg, or smaller valves in difficult access positions, may require mechanical lifting aids. Access platforms over pipe racks to facilitate the maintenance or removal of these items shall be provided. Shell and tube Exchangers To facilitate a horizontal pull of tube bundles from the shell of the exchangers, a series of pull posts slots are to be provided. These slots are sized to accept pulling posts, which are to be inserted when required. The slot locations are to be sited adjacent to each item of equipment at a distance greater than the bundle withdrawal length. Mobile cranes are envisaged to support the bundle weight and a manual winch to be attached to the pulling posts for horizontal withdrawal
