shsll be snpplied to it by the Government of the Straits Sottlementg

Glovernments of the Malay Protecteil Statos, anil untler the samo
limitations as to amount. Hig Eighness the Matarajah on hie part
unilerta,kee that the applications of his Clovemment for subsiiliary
coiiage shall be strictly linit€il by the legitimate requiremento of
tho iahabitants of tho Sbate of Johorq anil thot the coinago so
issued sball be oubject to the samo limitations as regardo legal tonilor
as ero in force in the Straits Settlements.

forner Treaties, will at all times to tho uimost of bis power tale
whatover rteps may be necessa,ryto protect tho Glovernment anil
territory of Johore from any exterual'hostile attacks; and for these

foreig;n State, such correspontlence shall be ooniluctotl through Eer
MajestJ's Governmont, to whom Eis Eighness makes oyer tho
guidanco and control of bis foreign relations.
