LM POTENCIES Part 1:

INTRO: First of all you have to know why three scales of potencies are there.... The three scales commonly used are DECIMAL SCALE, DENOTED AS X, CENTESIMAL SCALE (C) and 50 MILLESIMAL scale denoted as 0/1, 0/2 ...or lm1, lm2...., or 1/0 , 2/0..... The most Commonly used form for 50 Millesimal scale is 0/1, 0/2 etc...

If u dont find any indications but only numbers are given it is to be considered as centesimal only For example. Aconite 30 means the 30 th potency in centesimal scale of aconite i.e., Aconite 30c

WHAT IS THE NECESSITY FOR THESE THREE SCALES OF MEDICINES? You will be surprised why these three scales of medicines has been used... no other system has these many scales of medicines.... The answer lies in the second aphorism of organon.... THE HIGHEST IDEAL OF CURE IS RAPID GENTLE PERMANENT RESTORATION OF HEALTH OR ANNHILATION OF DISEASE IN WHOLE EXTENT ON SIMPLE COMPREHENSIVE MEANS AND BASED ON FIXED PRINCIPLES....

Hahnemann was not interested in the cruel mode of treatment of allopathy and so he started translating books by which he accidentally discovered the Similar Principle i.e., Homoeopathy... But He was experiencing so many aggravations during the treatment by using homoeo medicines... So There raised a need to Reduce the quantity of medicine to avoid unnecessary aggravations...

So he decided to dilute the medicine in huge qty of vehicle... this reduced the aggravations but he found out that at a particular point he was unable to find any medicinal action.... There aroused then the process of Dynamisation.... It is nothing but a basic law in physics which we would all have come acrossed.... It is This law "ENERGY CAN NEITHER BE CREATED NOR DESTROYED BUT IT CAN BE TRANSFORMED FROM ONE FORM INTO ANOTHER IN AN EQUIVALENT AMOUNT".....

Yes..... Our Medicines are nothing but an energy.... This ACTS BECAUSE THE VITAL FORCE RESPONSIBLE FOR LIFE AND FUNCTIONS IS ALSO A FORM OF ENERGY...THERE OCCURS A TRANSFER OF ENERGY REQD BY VITAL FORCE FOR CURE FROM THE MEDICINAL ENERGY WHICH IS NOT THE SAME ENERGY BUT A SIMILAR ONE....

So how come an inert substance can be made use of as medicine... Hahnemann found out this and he named as Dynamisation... THE ENERGY WITHIN THE INERT SUBSTANCE IS AROUSED AND TRANSFORMED INTO MEDICINAL ENERGY THROUGH FRICTION... BY TRITURATION.. WE ACTUALLY DO AS BELOW..

1. AN INERT SUBSTANCE IS TAKEN (A PART OF DRUG) 2. TO THIS A VEHICLE WHICH IS NEUTRAL IN PROPERTY IS ADDED IN PARTICULER PROPORTION (SUGAR OF MILK OR ALCOHOL) 3. Hahnemann found only the centesimal scale and fifty millesimal scales and not the decimal scale

... He found out the centesimal scale first. He was using it till the fifth edition of organon. It avoided many aggravations when compared to allopathic drugs and that of using in decimal scale and in lower potencies But it had some disadvantages:

1. MEDICINES WERE ACTING FOR LONG DURATION WHICH HINDERED WITH THE REPETITION OF MEDICINES BY PHYSICIAN WHEN HE DESIRES TO REPEAT 2. MEDICINES OF DEEP ACTION CANNOT BE USED IN HIGH POTENCIES AND VERY HIGH POTENCIES IN CASES WHERE THE STRUCTURAL PATHOLOGY IS MORE 3. IT CAUSED SOME AGGRAVATIONS ESPECIALLY IN SENSITIVE INDIVIDUALS.

FOR SUCCESS IN A CASE, IT IS OUR DUTY TO FIND OUT similar medicine... This is the biggest and toughest job..... A case well taken is half cured... THE DOSE AND POTENCIES Comes into play to quicken the cure without any aggravations.... To get an ideal cure. It should satisfy all these three points... 1. Because you have to know the normal First and then only you can find the abnormal... Is that Correct? In order to know the advantages of fifty millesimal You have to know the disadvantages of centesimal so that you can use lm potencies safely...

IN CENTESIMAL DRUG QUANTITY IS ONE PART, VEHICLE QUANTITY IS 99 PARTS, NUMBER OF SUCCUSIONS GIVEN IS TEN....

We have selected with utmost care and difficulty the similar medicine.. what we fear is that the patient should not get any aggravations and must be cured very speedily in a gentle way... SELECTING THE SIMILAR medicine is the biggest job for the homeopath...

I assume that u ve selected the similar medicine for a particular case... The next thing which is revolving in ur mind causing a vertigo for u is "WHAT DOSE AND POTENCY SHOULD I VE TO START WITH?

Remember that centesimal scale is injurious if we use in large dose/high potency in a case of structural change... HOW DOES LM POTENCIES ACT? In lm Potencies, 1. ONE PART OF DRUG IS TAKEN 2. 50,000 PARTS OF VEHICLE IS TAKEN 3. 100 STRONG SUCCUSIONS ARE GIVEN...

THE ADVANTAGE: 1. DRUG QTY IS VERY VERY MINIMUM COMPARED TO CENTESIMAL SCALE (1:99) WHICH REDUCES 99% MEDICINAL AGGRAVATIONS.... 2. One point u ve to note in the previous para.. I VE TOLD 99% NO AGGRAVATION.. AND WHAT TO DO IF THAT 1% AGGRAVATION COMES IN?.. IN THAT 1% , ONLY 0.5% AGGRAVATIONS ARE CAUSED IN IDIOSYNCRATIC INDIVIDUALS.. I.E, SENSITIVE PERSONS... REMAINING 0.5% AGGRAVATION IS CAUSED BY ERROR ON THE PART OF PHYSICIAN.. Part 4:

MODE OF APLLICATION:

From the previous 3 parts of the document u ve got the knowledge abt centesimal and lm potencies... now lets go to the next point, how to apply them in practice.

1. Dry dose 2. Water dose

Both these forms can be used for application... But according to the directions given in organon sixth edition we are directed to administer as follows...

CONDITIONS: 1. IN CHRONIC CASE START WITH 0/1 (LOWEST) AND THEN PROCEED HIGHER AND HIGHER SO LONG AS IMPROVEMENT PERSISTS... CAN REPEAT MANY TIMES A DAY AS U WISH. BUT ONLY ONE MEDICINE AT A TIME... DO NOT MIX TWO MEDICINES WHEN TAKING AT A TIME.. YOU CAN GIVE MORN ONE MEDICINE NIGHT ONE MEDICINE IF NECESSARY (This Requires further investigation.. I ve Given in few cases and found good results)

2. THE ONLY POINT WHICH WE HAVE TO KEEP IN MIND IS TO VARY EACH DOSE WHILE ADMINSTERING. FOR EXAMPLE, A BOTTLE CONTAINING 15 ML OF MEDICINAL SOLUTION IS TAKEN. SUCCUSS 5 TO 12 TIMES AS UR NEED AND GIVE FIRST DOSE IN THE MORNING... WHEN SECOND DOSE IS GIVEN AT NIGHT MAKE SURE U VE INSTRUCTED UR PATIENT TO SUCCUSS TE BOTTLE 5 TO 12 TIMES AS UR NEED

3. EVERY DOSE HAS TO BE CHANGED AND SHOULD BE A LITTLE HIGHER IN POTENCY... THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DO WITH DRY DOSES.. SO ONLY MANY PEOPLE FIND GUD RESULTS IN WATER DOSES AS U CAN MODIFY EVERY DOSE BY SHAKING AND STIRRING

4. IN ACUTE CASES YOU CAN SELECT MEDICINE ACCORDING TO THE POTENCY U DO AS IN CENTESIMAL.BUT IT IS BEST TO START WITH 0/3 IN MODERATELY SEVERE ACUTE DISEASES AND 0/6 IN VERY SEVERE ACUTE DISEASES.

5. IN ACUTE DISEASES WAIT ATLEAST FOR SIX HRS BEFORE CHANGING THE MEDICINE.. U CAN GIVE MEDICINE EVERY 30 MINS/ 1 HR/ 2 HR/3HR/ 4HR ETC... MAKE SURE UR PATIENT SUCCUSSES THE BOTTLE EACH TIME HE TAKES IT..

6. IF NO IMPROVEMENT EXISTS IN ACUTE DISEASE FOR TWO HRS TRY INCREASING POTENCY OF SAME MEDICINE ONCE. IF NO IMPROVEMENT EXISTS IN CHRONIC CASE FOR MORE THAN A WEEK TRY INCREASING THE POTENCY ONCE.. STLL IF NO IMPRIOVEMENT , UR MEDICINE IS WRONG..

7. YOU WILL GET AGGRAVATIONS IF YOU ADMINISTER THE MEDICINAL SOLUTION WITHOUT SUCCUSING OR CHANGING THE DEGREE OF POTENCY OF EACH DOSE.. EX. GIVING 0/1 15 DOSES IN DRY FORM (MORN AND NIGHT DAILY) YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO GET SEVERE AGGRAVATION IF THE PATIENT IS SENSITIVE...

WHEN TO STOP THE MEDICINE?

1 IF U FIND ANY NEW SYMPTOMS APPEARING WHICH THE PATIENT NEVER HAD IN HIS LIFE 2. IF OLD SYMPTOMS REAPPEAR 3. IF TROUBLE SOME SYMPTOMS APPEAR 4. AT THE END OF TREATMENT WHEN HOMOEPATHIC AGGRAVATIONS OCCURS

5. WHEN YOU GET ANY EXTERNAL SYMPTOMS SUCH AS APPAEARANCE OF RASH, SUPPRESSED ERUPTIONS... KINDLY CHECK HERING'S LAW OF CURE

WHEN TO REPEAT MEDICINE ? WHEN THE PATIENT'S GENERAL STATE IS IMPROVING REPEAT THE MEDICINE AND MOVE TO HIGHER POTENCIES..
