1-2 “word” : or, “discourse”; cf. the introduction..” The antecedent of “by which” is “word” (or “discourse”).
3-4 The exact meaning of “eight days” and the relation to “three days” is unclear; cf. the introduction.
5-6 We understand R pasxa as a translation of the Greek poei'n th;n pavsca; cf. R ppasxa in Matthew 26:18 and
Hebrews 11:28. But it is also possible to understand it as a translation of the Greek verb pavscein, so that one
would have to translate the passage “three days before his passion.”
13 aymoy{te} : Nagel suggests that this may be corrected to read a%w&moy{te}, “he called.”

21 éakàe : the reading of the 2nd person sing. pronoun is certain under infrared light. Nagel suggests to correct to
read éa%y&àe. Plisch (and Bethge) suggest that the entire sentence (ll. 18-21) may be regarded as a secondary
gloss. The idea of Christ appearing as a child occurs only here in the Gospel of Judas.
25-26 “practicing their piety” : that is, “offering a prayer of thanksgiving over the bread” (p. 34,1-2). Alternatively,
Nagel suggests that this may be translated “disputing issues about God.”

At the end of the line, Nta {…} may be restored to either Nta{y-}, “[they],” or Nta{w-}, “[he].” Since the word
katalyma in l. 11 is a clear allusion to Mark 14:11 and Luke 22:11—that is, the place where Jesus wished to eat
the Passover (the last supper) together with his disciples (cf. p. 33,4-6, “three days before he celebrated
Passover”)—the plural is probably more plausible. The question of the scribes in l. 21 also seems to presuppose
that the disciples are together with Jesus in the “guest room”; cf. the introduction.
