Here are the unofficial highlights of the 208th Stated Meeting of the Presbytery of Scioto Valley,

which met Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at the Circleville Presbyterian Church.

The Presbytery Reflected On Its Mission As God’s People


Vice-Moderator Ralph LeVan, on behalf of Presbytery Council, highlighted the churrent mission
initiative of the Presbytery and led presbyters in reflection on how the Presbytery is doing with
the mission directions which were adopted two and a half years ago. Presbyters divided into
small groups and discussed these three questions:
1. How do you see the Presbytery of Scioto Valley living out our mission statement?
2. What do you value most about the Presbytery?
3. How can your presbytery support you in exploring what God is calling your
congregation to be and do today?

Budget
On recommendation from Council the 2009 Administrative Operating (Per Capita) Budget was
reduced by $13,000 in six different budget line items.

Elections
Elder Ralph LeVan and the Rev. Deborah Lewicki were elected Moderator and Vice-Moderator
for 2009-2010 to be installed at the June meeting.

Special Reports
Special reports were presented by Synod Commissioner Andrew Aboagye, Daniel Ingwersen of
Four Seasons City Farm (initiated by Columbus Old First Church), Louise Davidson, who serves
on the General Assembly Advocacy Committee for Women’s Concerns, and Karen Henderson
about “Centsibility” (formerly 2 Cents a Meal Program).

Presbytery Policies
The presbytery adopted on second reading a revised and updated Presbytery Personnel Policy.
The Staff Services Committee is already working on an addendum to cover items not included.

Ministerial Changes
The Committee on Preparation for Ministry has received Amanda and Brian Beverly, members
at Fredericktown First Church, as Inquirers

Cynthia Burse was welcomed as the new pastor of Bethany Church, Columbus.

Worship
Energetic worship was lead by Circleville organist Jack Mader and pastor Steve Moulton, with
Tracy Keenan bringing a stirring proclamation about putting away childish things, based on 1
Corinthians 13:11-12.

Next Meeting
The next Presbytery Meeting will be Tuesday, June 16, at the Dublin Presbyterian Church.
