Hello! I am Devipriya and the greeting comes to you from the southern part of India. It is indeed a challenging task to explain to you what makes me unique in this world of 10 billion people. But once I had the facts straight, voila! It is not as difficult as I thought The story this far, the way that lead me to Psychology as a passion I am an engineer by profession, I was holding my Electronics & Communication Engineering degree in hand by the year 2001 Soon after I received the degree I moved to the world of computers and programming, and what caught my attention was the giant mainframe computers and the programs/source code that controlled it as the brain controlled the human body I have now been in this field for more than 10 years, and this covers three employers including my present It was during my stint at IBM Bangalore (India) - 5th year of my career - where I got my "big

break". I had been chosen to serve the computing needs of Medco - a pharmacy benefit
company in the US., when the architect whom I worked for was very impressed with my work and got me an appreciation note from none less than the VP of Medco. First of its kind in the software services history of IBM India, I believe. I was soon given a team to manage, and this gave me a wealth of experiences in a domain altogether different from the technical domain that I worked that far. The people domain! Aside from a childhood passion for Psychology, this was the point where I developed an active interest in the subject of Psychology and started putting in hours towards the subject.

Here are my fields of interest, apart from Psychology that is I love travel, though it has been mostly within India so far. The other countries visited are Switzerland, Germany, France, United States and Srilanka I have a penchant for books, and not just restricted to one topic. Curiosity or thirst or whatever you may call it, I am never tired of them. A well-stocked book store remains one of my favorite haunts to this date. I would someday publish some of the literary pieces I have penned in my diary too. Born to creative parents, I guess that is part of who I am. Topics related to the corporate field (where I work) that excite me Management & business strategy, knowledge management, people development I have a small (but not so small) passion for the field of education that includes teaching/pedagogy. I have been part of many of our corporate social initiatives that worked with children. Dont get me wrong in all the above, I am still a simple person who loves spending time with family and friends, especially my 6 months old niece.

Future, as I see it in less than a year from now: A meeting with the Dalai Lama during a function at Stanford University, turns out to be life changing event I quit my corporate job to pursue my interests full time. Serving society is best accomplished when you follow your heart. Though I would then be a late bloomer by Indian standards, I still see myself crossing my goals and targets one by one and to great personal and professional satisfaction.

To wrap up One of the reasons that made me consider the subject of social psychology as my field is the wish to share the wealth of information contained in the ancient Indian texts to the larger world. May I be able to find the inner strength! That is it for now. Signing off! Dont forget to give me a good assessment!!

The topics in the social psychology lessons I have tried in the above text are: Salience (in formatting), Thin slices (pictures, esp one in a positive smiling face towards the end so that it stays on as current in peoples minds), Features of the attributional framework - distinctiveness (some points which I consciously inserted to bring this about, for e.g., the big career break), consensus (appreciatory note from people in position). I have also tried to appeal to the peoples interest in story-telling, by providing a brief story-line.
