Transportation Q.1. A manufacturer wants to ship 22 loads of his product as shown below.

The matrix gives the kilometers from sources of supply to the destination. Destination D1 S1 S2 S3 Demand 5 4 8 4 D2 8 7 4 4 D3 6 7 6 5 D4 6 6 6 4 D5 3 5 4 8 Supply 8 5 9

The shipping cost is Rs. 10 per load per km. What shipping schedule should be used in order to minimize the total transportation cost? Q.2. A company has three plants and four warehouses. The supply and demand in units and the corresponding transportation costs are given. Plants A B C Demand Warehouses I 5 6 4 25

Answer the following questions, giving brief reasons: a) b) c) Q.3 Is this solution feasible? Is this solution degenerate? Is this solution optimal? If no find the optimal solution. Given the following cost matrix for a Transportation Table: A I II III IV Demand 5 6 5 6 20 B 6 4 7 5 25 C 4 6 8 7 20 D 7 5 6 7 40 supply 24 36 30 10

A finished product must weigh exactly 150 grams. The two raw materials used in manufacturing the product are A, with a cost of Rs. 2 per unit and B with a cost of Rs. 8 per Unit. At least 14 units of B and not more than 20 units of A must be used. Each unit of A and B weighs 5 and 10 grams respectively. How much of each type of raw material should be used for each unit of the final product in order to minimize the cost. The Diet of a person should contain at-least 400 units of vitamins, 50 units of minerals & 1400 units of calories. Two foods F1 & F2 are available at a unit cost of Rs. 4 & Rs. 3 respectively. If one unit of Food F1 Contains 20 units of vitamins, 1 unit of minerals & 40 units of calories and one unit of Food F2 Contains 10 units of vitamins, 2 unit of minerals & 40 units of calories, find that how many units of each type of foods a person should consume to minimize the total cost. Formulate it as a Linear Programming. A co makes 2 kinds of dolls. Doll A is of high quality and B is of Lower quality. The respective profits are Rs. 14 and 13 resp. Each doll of type A require twice as much time as doll of type B to make If all the dolls were of type B , the co could make 1000 dolls per day . The supply of material is sufficient for only 800 dolls per day (both A n B combined). Doll A requires a fancy shoe and only 400 such shoes are available per day. There are only 700 shoes per day available for doll B. Determine the no. of dill to be produced of each type so as to make the max profit. Formulate only.
