chief Radhakanta Nayak IAS (Retd.), on instructions
from Sonia Gandhi organized the violence in Orissa
and tried to kill an eighty year old Hindu saint for the
seventh time. The attack on the eighty year old Hindu
saint, His Holiness Swami Laxmananda Saraswati was
the work of a christian organization called ‘World
Vision’ NGO and it chief is Radhakanta Nayak, who is a
Rajya Sabha member of the Sonia Gandhi’s Christian
Congress party of India. Attack on Swami Laxmananda
Saraswati was a pre-planned effort by the christian
Nayak and his christian terrorists.

State Government should impose ban on NGO, working
for religious conversion of the Hindu poor by fraud in
Orissa. The Hindu religious leader His Holiness Swami
Laxmananda Saraswati, who was injured in the attack
in Kandhmal district, in Orissa. This led to large scale
violence and arson in the district. The Christian plant in
India Antonia Maino alias Sonia Gandhi is behind the
attack on the eighty-year-old His Holiness Swami
Laxmananda Saraswati. His Holiness Swami
Laxmananda Saraswati led an anti-conversion
movement and this was the reason for the planned
attack to kill the Hindu leader by Sonia Gandhi’s
christian goondas. Swami Laxmananda Saraswati
who was injured in the christian attack, was shifted to
the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack from
Darinigibadi Government hospital. The christian
terrorists launched an attack on him at the instruction
of the Congress leader to eliminate the Hindu saint.

The attack was the seventh one by christian terrorists

on the Hindu saint. Swami Laxmananda Saraswati’s
driver and personal security guard were seriously
injured in the incident and his car badly damaged.
While His Holiness Swami Laxmananda Saraswati was
admitted at Darinigibadi government hospital, his
security guard was rushed to M K C G Medical College
Hospital at Berhampur. Sources said the district
administration of Kandhamal preferred to shift
Saraswati to Cuttack hospital apprehending more
danger in the locality. TIME FOR HINDUS TO

CHRISTIANS OF INDIA
NEWS IN DETAIL
In Orissa, Christian missionaries hatched a violent plot
to ambush and kill the 83-year old Hindu monk Swami
Laxmanananda Saraswati who was on his way to a
Yajna in Brahmanigaon village on Christmas eve.

On 24 December 2007, a 500-strong Christian mob

armed with daggers, axes and machetes had waited
patiently for Swamiji after they had first felled huge
roadside trees and used them up as road-
blocks/barriers on the road near Darsingbadi village (in
Phulbani district). When the Jeep carrying Swamiji
approached the village, the Christian missionaries
ordered two trucks to drive up and block the road to
the rear of Swamiji's Jeep so that he was now
effectively trapped between the trucks and the felled
trees.

As his Jeep stopped, the 500-strong mob of Christian

converts violently attacked Swami Laxmanananda
Saraswati with sharp weapons and tried to kill him.
Fortunately, with the help of his injured bodyguard
Kishore Chandra Pradhan and wounded driver Naresh
Kanhar who barely managed to steer the Jeep away
between the barriers, Swamiji escaped the murderous
attack but was severely injured and was taken to
nearby hospital where he has been admitted to an
Intensive Care Unit. The driver and bodyguard were
also admitted in critical condition to the hospital.
The Jeep was severely damaged in the attack.

Not content with the murderous attack on Swamiji, that

marauding band of Christian thugs had then proceeded
to the village Hindu temple and burnt it down. A Hindu
Vanavasi youth was hacked to death by Christians in a
separate incident in the same district.

These terror attacks triggered a domino effect among

the Hindus, especially our Vanavasi brothers, and some
retaliated by burning some thatched-roof churches. In
more retaliatory attacks by Christians, Hindu homes
and temples were also burnt down.

Local Hindu organisations also report that the Christian

missionaries had already converted the Pana Dalit
community (which accounted for 20 percent of the
population in Kandhamal distict) by offering jobs,
houses, school admissions and financial inducements
and that they were now using the Pana Christians to
convert the Kandha (Hindu Vanavasi) community who
now constitute 80 percent of the population in
Kandhamal.

The tension in Kandhamal heightened after the Centre

announced reservation for the Dalit Christians from the
share meant to uplift poorer Hindu Dalits and Vanvasis.
In Orissa, the Pana converts had received ample
financial help from the missionaries and were
economically well-off in comparison to the Hindu
Vanvasis who did not convert; but ironically Pana
Christians were now declared as being eligible for
"Scheduled Tribe" reservations as well. This travesty
angered the Hindu Vanavasi community even further
and the Kui Samaj had announced a state-wide bandth
to protest this injustice.

Kabiser Mallick, who belongs to the economically poor

Kandha Vanavasi community, said, "We feel neglected
here because even though Kandha Vanvasis are the
numerical majority, our political representatives are all
Pana Christians. Panas are paid convert to Christianity
and are well off. Then why should they receive
reservations meant for Scheduled Tribes?", he
wondered.

This grievance is illustrated by the Christmas-eve

attack on Swami Laxmanananda Saraswati being
planned, paid for and executed by Christian missionary
and "World Vision" NGO's chief, Radhakanta Nayak,
who is also the Congress (I) Member of Parliament from
the area.

The 83-year old Swamiji has been a figurehead of the

Orissa Hindu revival and social reform struggle for
nearly 40 years now. He has been the nemesis of the
devious evangelistic conversion activity in Orissa since
May 1970 when a Christian mob had set on fire the
sacred icon (Murti) of Lord Birupakhya at the famous
Shiva temple in the small tribal village of Chakapad in
the Kandhamal district.

In 1969-70, he arrived at Phulbani district headquarters

of Kandhamal district. The Church had chalked out a
dangerous plan to finish the Hindus in those areas. The
plan "Mission Christ Sthan" was intended to create one
separate territory for the Christians. The missionaries
were keen to make their programme successful in
Koraput, Gajpati, Phulbani, Kalahandi, Bolangir,
Bhanjanagar, Daspalla, Khanda-pada, Boudh, Sonapur,
Athamallik and Angul districts. Huge funds from
Christian countries were flowing into these regions for
conversion activities.
"When I heard about the plan of the pastors to create a
"Christ Sthan", I decided to visit those areas.
Communication was not as good as it is today. I did not
have any money even to travel. Hence, I begged alms in
places like Khurda and Nayagarh and managed to
collect 30 rupees. With this amount in hand, and taking
the blessings of Lord Jagannath, I reached there," he
said.

Swamiji reached Chakapad, a small tribal village, 30

kms from the Phulbani district headquarters. He
established his ashram there in 1969 and dedicated
himself to the service of mankind.

Swamiji started his service and social reform work,

making Chakapad his centre. To promote education, he
established a school and a Sanskrit college at
Chakapad in 1969. To save the Vanvasis from the
clutches of missionaries, he started a unique plan. He
inspired the locals to have a kirtan mandali in each
village. He started delivering religious preaching
among Vanvasis, which proved advantageous in
curbing the missionary activities. Swamiji united the
Vanvasis of Kandhamal and educated them to be
conscious of the missionary activities and to develop
their economic and social conditions. As a result, the
missionaries had no way but to cancel their "Christ
Sthan" project when they realized that they now have a
strong Hindu challenge that stood firmly in their way of
fully converting Kandhamal.

The Swami, known for his untiring zeal to check

conversion of tribals into Christians in the entire
southern and western Orissa, has been running the
Shankaracharya Sanskruta Kanya Ashram at
Jalespata, 30km south of Baliguda in Kandhamal for
more than three decades now.

"The Christian missionaries want to convert Hindus to

Christianity and convert India into a Christian land. We
are opposed to that and that is the source of all
disputes and fights," said Swami Laxmanananda.

Prominent Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Swami

Laxmananda Saraswati and four others were shot
dead by unknown assailants at Jaleshpata Ashrama
school on the Kalahandi Phulbani border tonight.

Swami Saraswati, the founder of Chakapada Ashram

in Phulbani, has gone to the ashrama when the
assailants attacked and opened indiscriminate fire,
killing him on the spot, along with four others.

State Director General of Police Gopal Nanda

confirmed the news but the identification of four others
was yet to be confirmed. He said suspected Naxalites
were behind the act and they were verifying it.
Swami Saraswati had recently issued a statement to
the press stating that his life was in danger ever since
he had levelled allegations against Christian
missionaries joining hands with the Maoists in the
tribal dominated Phulbani district.

Earlier, an attack on Swami Saraswati in December

last had triggered off communal violence in Phulbani,
in which houses belonging to both the Hindu and
Christian communities and churches were burnt. The
violence also claimed three lives prompting the state
government to institute a Judicial inquiry.

Swami Saraswati had claimed that at least eight

attempts had been made on his life in Kandhmal
district during the past few years.

The DGP said senior police officials have rushed to the

spot and the Kalahandi-Phulbani border area had been
sealed. The police had launched a combing operation
to nab the assailants.

It was not immediately known who the assailants were

but the VHP leaders alleged that it was a well planned
conspiracy by a vested group to eliminate him.

The VHP has called for Phulbani Bandhi tomorrow to

protest against the killing. The situation in entire
Phulbani was tense and police reinforcements rushed
to the district to control the situation.

The allegation against them is that they have produced

converting to Christianity.

“Of the 600 fake certificate allegations, 350 have been

verified by the district administration and the remaining
will be verified in another one to two months and action
will be taken according to the government guidelines,”
Collector of Kandhamal Kishan Kumar said.

According to the law, a Hindu Scheduled Caste person

cannot claim reservation benefits once he converts to
another religion. But in Kandhamal lakhs of people
have allegedly enjoy quota benefits even after
converting to Christianity.

However, BJP MP Sugrib Singh rubbished the

accusation. “These are false allegation against me.
Allegations are politically motivated. I am a Hindu SC
and I have not used any fake certificate,” Singh said.

After this Christmas passed off peacefully in

Kandhamal, the Orissa government is considering
withdrawing security forces from the district. But
before withdrawing forces, it seems the government
should address the religious, reservation and land
issues in the district.

What really happened in Kandhamal

By Ashok Sahu I.P.S. (Retd.)
On December 23, 2007 defying the Superintendent of
Police, the Church authorities pitted tents and canopies
for X-
X-mass celebration
celebration on the disputed plot and also
torched one hotel and two shops in Brahmanigaon
belonging to Hindus, in the very presence of the District
Superintendent of Police.

Even orders from the High Court have not been

implemented by the State Government. Surprisingly,
Surprisingly,
the National Minority Commission has given a clean chit
to the Chief Minister but blamed the District
Administration for the recent violence, as if the Chief
Minister has no control on the latter.

Kandhamal, literally an area inhabited by the Kandha

tribes in Orissa and grouped as a district since 1994, all
of a sudden came to limelight on the eve of X-mass
celebrations last year end. The Kui Co-ordination
Committee had given a protest call for ‘Bundh’ on
December 25 and 26 2007, having failed to get their
genuine grievances redressed by the State
Government. Their grievances were directed against
the converted ‘Pana’ Christians who in order to retain
their privileges under the Constitution of India have
been contriving to get re-enlisted as Scheduled Tribe
by manipulating a notification by the President of India
under Article 342 of the Constitution. It appears that the
dates for mass protest were selected deliberately to
embarrass the local Missionary authorities who
traditionally utilised X-mass celebrations for mass
conversion among the poor tribes. Besides the
aforesaid manipulation, the dubious manner in which
the tribal lands were grabbed by the Church authorities
at the behest of high officials in the Revenue
Department under Orissa Government, had also
agitated the Kandha tribe in general. They were
revolting against the Pana leaders like Minister
Padmanabh Behera, M.L.A. Sugriva Singh, and Pana
Christian bureaucrats like Radhakanta Nayak, Isaac
Behera, John Nayak, Sailendra Pradhan etc. during last
many occasions. Minister Padmanabh Behera had to
resign in the wake of the recent violence in Kandhamal
district, when the fate of the Congress Rajya Sabha MP
Radhakanta Nayak appears to be getting brighter with
the blessings of Sonia Gandhi who herself is a Catholic
Christian. The Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil was
the first visitor to the affected areas but conspicuous
exclusion of Brahmanigaon, the epicenter of the series
of recent violence and disorder from his itinerary has
been the subject of severe criticism in the press and
the public.

The protest ‘Bundh’ would perhaps passed off

unnoticed outside the State, but for the obstinacy of the
converted Christians to defile the Puja Mandap in
Brahmanigaon, an altar where traditionally the Hindus
used to celebrate Durga Puja every year. Over last two
decades, the Hindus in Brahmanigaon were reduced to
a minority by mass proselytisation in the district,
particularly under the Daringbadi Block, the native
village of notorious Radhakanta Nayak. On December
22, 2007, John Nayak, a retired IPS officer had
informed the local administration to remain alert for a
communal onslaught in the area. This is also confirmed
by the National Minority Commission, which visited the
affected areas and released its findings to the press in
New Delhi on January 17, 2008. On December 23
defying the Superintendent of Police, the Church
authorities pitted tents and canopies for X-mass
celebration on the disputed plot and also torched one
hotel and two shops in Brahmanigaon belonging to
Hindus, in the very presence of the District
Superintendent of Police. The following day, Swami
Laxmanananda Saraswati on his way to Brahmanigaon,
was ambushed by busloads of hooligans arranged by
Radhakanta Nayak in his village at Dasingbadi under
Daringbadi Block. About 200 armed converted
Christians attacked Swamijee injuring him and his
armed security personnel, driver etc. This was enough
to ignite the already surcharged atmosphere to go on
indiscriminate attack on the Pana Christians and their
leaders. It may be mentioned here that the Kandha tribe
are a peace loving people but once rubbed on the
wrong side can be very violent and difficult to be
pacified. The tense situation was further compounded
by an unprovoked lathi charge on the followers of
Swamijee who had congregated at the Daringbadi
police station in support of their beloved Swamijee who
had spent 40 years in company of the Kandha tribe to
protect them from the clutches of the proselytisers, and
long cherished tribal culture of the Kandha. There were
murderous attacks on the Swamijee even earlier
engineered by the Church in 1967, 1969, 1976, 1978,
1982, 1985, and 1995.

The local churches get lot of foreign contributions to

promote proselytisation under direct tutelage of the
USA, Canada, Australia and many European countries.
There are NGOs like the World Vision, YMCA, NISWAS
and Jana Kalyan Sangha, which get lots of financial aid
even from the government, which are promoting
religious conversion of the Pana and Kandha
community. There has been a long-standing dispute
between the converted Pana Christians and the Kandha
tribes in matters of employment under reserved quota
for government jobs, distribution of land holdings
earmarked for tribal development and illegal
occupation of these by the Church authorities, and
conversion to Christianity by fraud, allurement and
cheating. Despite many protests and representations to
the State Chief Minister, their grievances remained
unattended and unfulfilled. Even orders from the High
Court have not been implemented by the State
Government. Surprisingly, the National Minority
Commission has given a clean chit to the Chief Minister
but blamed the District Administration for the recent
violence, as if the Chief Minister has no control on the
latter. It may be recalled that the Pana Caste are not
the indigenous population of the district, rather they
have migrated from the neighbouring Nayagarh and
Ganjam districts from pre-Independence, mostly after
being converted to Christianity. They have been
learning the Kui dialect which is the mother tongue of
the Kandha in order to claim and confuse their class
identity against which the indigenous Kandha tribe
have been revolting since 1997. Taking advantage of
the sporadic damage done to the Church properties
during the recent provocated disturbances, the Pana
Christians who are notorious for being very ‘cunning’
and unscrupulous have reportedly torched many of
their thatched Churches, themselves with the hope to
attract more funds from abroad and grant from the
government under relief for damage during ‘communal
strife’. However, six churches and more than sixty
thatched prayer centres were shown damaged to
qualify for relief grants. More than 350 Hindus were
rendered homeless who were in minority surrounded
by the Pana Christians in Brahmanigaon,
Kinarinuagaon, Godapur, Katingia and Daringbadi.
Three Hindu temple and more than two thousand
‘Dharani Penu’ sites of worship of Kandha tribes have
been reduced to dust by the converted Christians. One
Khageswar Mallik aged about 30 years was lynched to
death by stoning by Pana Christians comprising mostly
women. More than 10 Maoists were killed in an
encounter when they attacked the Brahmanigaon
police post, but as usual, the radicals dragged the dead
bodies of their colleagues fearing identification. One
dead body from among the Maoists has been recovered
who is suspected to be an outsider and not belonging to
the near-by villages. More than 130 persons have been
arrested most of whom are Hindus because; the
Church authorities had prepared ahead of the incidents
what to write and whom to implicate. Most of the Hindu
victims had fled to the nearby forests being afraid of the
Police officers from among the converted Christians.
The partisan attitude of the Police in bringing the
culprits to book might further delay the slow process of
restoration of peace and normalcy in the district.
Indiscriminate arrests of innocent Hindus under
political pressure would only delay the peace process.

Now, the basic issues need be addressed without

bothering about the political stakes. Nevertheless, the
BJD, major partner in the government is trying to profit
by blaming the saffron brigade, which would in long run
benefit their common enemy that is Congress. Delay in
redress of the genuine grievances of the Kui speaking
Kandha tribes would only complicate the situation for
which the government will have to pay a heavy price.
Despite many distorted versions of the incidents in
Kandhamal district, the fact remains that these
violence were mainly due to dispute between the Pana
Christians and the Kandha tribes over local issues with
socio-economic and political consequences. Before the
nation came to know of the incidents, distorted, highly
motivated and grossly misleading versions were given
wide publicity to tarnish the secular image of India by
the electronic media and the English print media
transmitted from abroad like one Angana Chatterji.
Such distortions will only compound and precipitate the
communal strife in the region.

Rape of minors by Missionary School officials in Orissa

Hardly the wound inflicted by the Pana Christians had

healed and the normalcy was limping back in the
district of Kandhamal, fresh incidents of rape on tribal
minors are reported from other parts in Orissa. On
January 12, 2008 (Saturday) Dipa and Padmini, two
minor tribal students were reportedly being brutally
raped by the Director of Agate Manor International
School that houses ‘orphans’ and homeless children
from tribal pockets. The other accomplice in the crime
was his 38-year-old younger brother named Anargala
Lima. The incident was witnessed by another minor
tribal girl Rukmani Hembrem (10 years old), a student
of the same school who out of panic and shock fled
from the sight lest she would also be a similar victim in
the hands of the same perpetrator. Terrified Rukmani in
a forlorn state was detected, the next day, by the
villagers in Talpadar Tikra, a small village 25 kilometers
from Bargarh district headquarters. She narrated the
incident to them and sought protection. The villagers
when confronted, the Principal, Mr. G. Appa Rao,
demanded medical treatment for the two victim girls,
and handing over to the local police. As the tension
was mounting, both the Principal Mr. Rao and Director
Samarpana Lima (43) along with his brother Anargala
Lima (38), allegedly the co-rapist in the incident, all ran
for their life. The Principal had managed the
disappearance of the victim girls who could not be
traced even by the Superintendent of Police. In order to
calm down the enraged villagers, the SP assured to
bring the culprits to book within twenty-four hours.
There is tension in the area and people are agitated
against the Missionaries that in the name of service
they collect huge sums to help the poor and rob the
minor girls of their womanhood and deny them the
minimum dignity that a woman deserves in a civilised
society. The villagers have lodged an FIR with the local
police alleging rape and disappearance of the victims
by Samarpana Lima and his brother Anargala Lima.
What is disturbing the villagers is the safety of the lone
witness to the gruesome rape by two fathers like
figures on minor girls. The local SP has reportedly
taken the lone witness Rukmani to his personal
custody. Rape victims Dipa and Padmini are reportedly
missing from the school. Many such incidents are
reportedly happening but going unreported because
the Christian Missionaries are having influence over the
local police officials with their money power.

Media mis-
mis-propaganda

One Angana Chatterji was one of the first to write in the

press distorting the whole episode that was published
in a section of the English print media. Earlier also, in
1999 a Christian nun was reportedly raped by Hindus in
Baripada Bus Stand which was falsified by subsequent
scrutiny of the facts in the incident. In 2002, in
Mandasur one tribal girl was raped and after pregnancy
was killed by the local church priest which was initially
distorted by the misreporting in the Press. Even the
reported killing of the Stains at Manoharpur village in
1999 was grossly distorted that even Hindus started
believing the stories until in the courts of law these are
gradually getting unmasked. Hence, mis-propaganda to
defame the image of India or the Hindu community at
large does not pay in the end. It only helps the mischief
mongers to fish in troubled water.

Net closes in on Cong MP for Orissa swami’s

murder

swamis-murder/403507/
Bhubaneswar: The BJD-BJP Governmentin Orissa is
closing in on Congress Rajya Sabha member and
former civil servant Radhakanta Nayak for his “alleged
role in the conspiracy to kill Lakshmanananda
Saraswati.”
Sources say that Nayak, the most high-profile Christian
political leader in the State, may be arrested shortly.
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has alleged that the
plot to kill Lakshamananda Saraswati was “hatched in
the presence of Nayak.”
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Orissa
police is said to be preparing a case against Nayak and
his supporters.
Though CID officials refused to comment whether they
considered Nayak as one of the suspects, they said:
“The mastermind has been identified and he is now out
of Orissa.”
Nayak, when contacted by The Indian Express, said the
allegations that he conspired to kill the Swami were
“absolutely absurd and completely false”. “I feel very
surprised by the charges,” he said over the phone from
New Delhi.
Saraswati and four of his associates were gunned down
by 30-odd assailants carrying sophisticated weapons at
his ashram in Jalespeta of Kandhamal district on the
evening of August 23. It led to one of the worst
communal conflicts in the history of the State and
Christians were targeted in Kandhamal and adjoining
districts.
The Hindutva brigade in the State believed the
Saraswati killing was a revenge attack. An attack on
the Swami’s vehicle in Kandhamal in December 2007
had sparked off a wave of violence on Christians in
which three people were killed and several houses
gutted.
The Sangh Parivar, it is believed, called off its
Christmas bandh based on the assurances from the
government that Nayak would be arrested. “It was one
of our demands and we have been given to understand
that the process is on,” a senior BJP leader said.
CID Inspector General of Police Arun Ray said the
murder of Saraswati was the result of a conspiracy
hatched soon after the December 2007 riots. “It was a
thorough professional job. The initial plan was hatched
by someone else. The actual planning to kill Saraswati
was done by a separate group while another group
trained the group of killers. One group did not know
what the other group was doing. Our challenge is to link
up the evidence and present a case before the court
that would lead to convictions,” said Ray. The police
have already arrested seven people, including some
Maoists, for the murder.

Bhubaneswar: The politics over Swami Laxmanananda

Saraswati murder case hotted up on Sunday with the
BJP demanding that Congress Rajya Sabha MP Radha
Kanta Nayak be interrogated by the Orissa Police for
his alleged role in the murder conspiracy of Saraswati.
Demanding this, BJP Lok Sabha MP Dharmendra
Pradhan said nobody was above the law. “I have
already accused him of being one of the conspirators
on the floor of Parliament. Why is he scared? Why is he
not coming out of Delhi to face the probe,” asked
Pradhan Nayak has already rubbished the charges
calling it “false and absurd”.
Meanwhile, the VHP on Sunday demanded that narco
test be done on Nayak alleging his role in the murder
conspiracy of Saraswati. VHP state secretary Gouri
Rath said narco test on Nayak would “reveal a lot of
information” on the murder case. “He should be
arrested immediately,” said Rath.
