Cycle of experiments:
Group I: Atterberg Limits (LL+PL+SL) & Moisture Content Group II: Vane Shear Test (Soil) & Direct Shear Test (Sand) Group III: Compaction (Standard Proctor Test & Modified Proctor Test) Group IV: Consolidation Test & Specific Gravity Test Group V: Grain size analysis (Mechanical Method) & In-situ density Test (Sand jar cone method)
Instructions:
Students are hereby conveyed to cooperate with the hectic schedule ahead. The class of 70 students will be divided into 5 (5 x 14 = 70) batches and each batch will be given 150 minutes to conduct the cycle of experiments, mentioned above. No. of students for performing an experiment varies for each cycle of experiments. All the students have to participate in the experiments. Students should clean the apparatus after completion of the experiment(s). The observations should be approved by the faculty before a student will continue to do calculations for the end result. Students will be observed for their participation, discipline, team work by either laboratory staff or faculty in place. 100% attendance is mandatory. Absence without credible reason and prior intimation to the faculty would result in reduction of marks in the internals. Students should note down the observations after performing the experiments and come with proper calculations, Graphs and results to the next session before writing the records which have to be submitted only after approval. All the students should come prepared to perform the lab task with the observation book. The observation book should contain the fallowing elements in it prior to entering the lab session, which will be checked by the lab staff. o Objective o Apparatus o Formulae used o Procedure o Observation & Calculation Tables o Graphs (Schematic)
