n What is
placement testing?
Placement testing includes reading, writing and math and is required to ensure that students are placed in courses for which they are academically prepared. Placement testing may be waived for students with SAT scores of 500 or higher in both critical reading and math. Contact your high schools guidance department for testing schedules or go to the Testing Center at the College. It is recommended that you call ahead to determine hours. At the Middletown Campus, call 540-868-7140; at the Fauquier Campus, call 540-351-1515; and at the Luray-Page County Center, call 540-843-0722. Students must present a legal photo ID, such as a drivers license, passport or DMV photo ID. n How do I prepare for placement
testing?
*Dual enrollment coursework is restricted to high school juniors and seniors. Exceptions may be considered for freshman and sophomore students who are able to demonstrate readiness for college level coursework. It is expected that all students meet placement criteria prior to enrolling in dual enrollment coursework. Freshman and sophomore students must meet with the dean of the respective division for the courses for which they wish to enroll. The deans and appropriate faculty will review placement test scores and determine student eligibility. * Home schooled students must attach the following information to the green form each time the student registers for courses: placement test scores, letter of approval from school division regarding home schooled instruction or religious exemption, and Required Educational Test results from spring testing done through the public school division. If testing results are not available, the student is required to meet with the dean(s) of the discipline(s) for the courses for which the student wishes to enroll. Students should work with their high school guidance counselor to ensure that college courses meet requirements for high school graduation.
Information about taking the placement tests and practice test information is available at www.lfcc.edu/ are-you-ready/. Students are strongly encouraged to review this site. n When do classes begin? Visit the LFCC Web site at www.lfcc.edu for information about the Colleges calendar and inclement weather postings. During inclement weather, students must follow the Colleges schedule.
