Friendship bracelets
Why are there knots in a friendship bracelet?
Because knots are a symbol of unity, a bond that cannot be broken.

How to Make a Friendship Bracelet

Materials
Different colours of hemp, twine, wool, etc.
Optional - various beads with large holes.
Cardboard piece 20 x 30 cm.
Large clip or masking tape.
Procedure
(Measurements may vary depending on your desired length).
• Cut a two metre piece of wool. Loop it to make two 20 cm strands and two 50 cm strands.
Tie a knot about 2 cm from the end. Cut the pieces to make four individual pieces. You
should now have 2 short strands and two longer strands all tied together at the end.
• Secure the knotted end to a piece of cardboard, using a clip, or to a table with masking
tape. Pull the 20 cm strands tight and secure to board or table. These will be strands 2 &
3 on the diagram. To make working with the longer strands less difficult, you may
gather each one up to a manageable length and secure with wire. Give yourself slack as
needed. As you improve at your braiding you will no longer need to secure the wool to
a board, but at first this step really helps.
• Make the knots using the instructions below.

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE
READING DESIRABLE POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES
Studies show that employers look for certain features on the basis of which they decide if the
candidate will be a good employee or not. The top 5 requirements that most employers and
interviewers look for are:
• Excellent communication skills. You are confident and can relate to others around you - either
by verbal or written messages.
• It is essential to be honourable and you should remember to always give honest answers to
questions that are asked during the interview.
• Most employers will say that teamwork skills are essential so you should be able to show
examples of these in your previous job(s) in your resume.
• Being able to accept responsibility and deal with conflicts efficiently and successfully.
• You should be able to show examples of how you can be motivated and the methods that you
use to motivate others around you; also showing initiative is a good characteristic.
