A.

Introduction The key to the future development of Indonesia is the nation's education. for the education of each individual is expected to improve the quality of existence and able to participate in the process. With the rapid development of the world in this era of globalization, especially in the field of technology and science, the national education should also continue to be developed in tune with the times. In general, a school and education aimed at human how a life must set, in accordance with the values of fairness and civility. All people must have hopes and dreams how a good life. Therefore, education on preparing its turn creates everyone to behave with politeness (civility). This refinement is needed practically in every move and behavior. In the law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 20 of 2003, Chapter I Article 1 paragraph 1 that education is a conscious and deliberate effort to create an atmosphere of learning and the learning process so that learners are actively developing the potential for him to have the spiritual strength of religious, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character skills necessary, society, nation and state. So far, education in Indonesia is still using traditional methods and dichotomous (there is a separation) between the education-oriented faith and piety with science and technology (science). Such education is not sufficient anymore to respond to the development of a very dynamic society. Educational methods should be applied right now is to develop educational integrality the combination of faith and piety with science and technology (science). Growing weakness of the nation's post-financial crisis we have experienced have made Indonesia is at the bottom in terms of quality of education. Lack of facilities and infrastructure to support the cause of teaching can not be done optimally. In this issue authors emphasize the extent to which the role of educators in an effort to improve the quality of educators in educational

quality associated with it - it data which educational technology affects teaching and learning process B. 1. Some Definition of Education Some definitions of education can be expressed below MJ Langeveld (1995): 1) Education is a human effort to guide human adult immature to maturity. 2) Education is the effort to help the child to perform his duties, to be independent, legally, and moral responsibility. 3) Education is the pursuit of self-determination and moral responsibility. Stella Van Petten Henderson: Education is combines of human growth and development with social heritage. Kohnstamm and Gunning (1995): Education is the formation of conscience. Education is the process of formation of self ethically, conformed conscience. John Dewey (1978): Education is all one with growing; it has no end beyond itself. (Education is all things together with growth; own education has no final goal behind him). H.H Horne: In broad terms, education is a tool with which social groups continue being self-renew, and maintain his ideals. Encyclopedia Americana (1978): Education is any process that individuals use to gain knowledge or insight, or develop attitudes or skills. Education is any work that ethical, creative, systematic and intentional aided by scientific methods and techniques, aimed at achieving specific educational goals. Content

4) Of the various definitions of the above, we can conclude that education is a fundamental human phenomenon in human life to deliver a human child into the world of civilization. Education is also an existential human guidance and counseling authentic, so that children learn to recognize a unique identity, to survive, and could have, proceed-developed social legacies of previous generations. 2. Goals and the Education Process The goal of education includes a description of the values of good, noble, worthy, true, and beautiful for life. Therefore, the purpose of education has two functions that give direction to all educational activities and is something to be achieves by all educational activities. As an educational component, the purpose of education occupies an important position among the components of other education. Can be says that all the components of the educational activities carried out solely directed to or intend for the achievement of these goals. Thus, activities that are not relevant to these objectives are considered deviant, dysfunctional, even wrong, and should be prevented from happening. Here seen that the purpose of education is normative, that is an element of coercive norms, but it does not conflict with the development of students as well as socially acceptable as the value of a good life. In connection with the function of a very important goal, then a must for educators to understand. Educators lack the educational goals can lead to misunderstandings in the conduct of education. Symptoms such by Langeveld is one theoretical (Umar Tirtarahardja and La Sula, 37: 2000). The education process is mobilizing activities of all components of education by educators directed to achieving educational goals.

How can the educational process was conducted largely determine the quality of educational achievement. Look at quality of the educational process in two aspects, namely the quality of components and quality management. Both terms are to each other interdependent. Although the components quite well, such as availability of infrastructure and facilities and adequate cost, is also supported by a reliable management of the achievement of goals will not be achieved optimally. Similarly, if the management of both, but in conditions of scarcity, will not lead to optimal results.

3.

Role of Education in Teaching-Learning Process Teaching and learning process is the core of the overall educational process with the teacher as the holder of the main roles. Because the teaching-learning process contains a series of acts of educators / teachers and students because of reciprocal relationships that take place in educational situations to achieve a particular goal. Interaction or reciprocal relationship between teachers and students is the main condition for the continuity of teaching and learning process. Interactions in teaching and learning events have a broader meaning, not just the relationship between teachers and students, but also the form of educational interaction. In this, case not only the delivery of messages in the form of subject matter, but the attitudes and values instilled in the student's learning. The role of teachers in the teaching-learning process, teachers not only to appear again as an instructor (teacher), as a prominent function for this, but move as coach (coach), coach (counselor) and manager of learning (learning manager). This is in accordance with the function of the role of future teachers. Where as a coach, a teacher will serve to encourage students to master the tools to learn, to motivate students to work hard and achieve the highest performance.

The presence of teachers in teaching and learning or teaching, still plays an important role. The role of teachers in the teaching process cannot replace by machines, radios, tape recorder or by computer the most modern. Still too many human elements such as attitudes, systems, values, feelings, motivations, habits and Iain, who is expected to be the result of the teaching process, cannot achieved through these tools. This is where the human advantage in this case the teacher of the tools or technology that created man to assist and facilitate life. But it must be admitted that as a result of population growth rate is fast (in Indonesia, 2.0% or about three and a half million new people born in one year) and technological progress on the other hand, in many developed countries and even in Indonesia, efforts towards improving education, especially regarding aspects of the quantity turned to science and technology. For example teaching through radio, television instruction, distance learning system through the module system, teaching machines / computers, or even system open learning E-learning (electronic learning) is learning both formally and informally conducted through electronic media, such as the Internet , CD-ROMs, video tapes, DVDs, TVs, mobile phones, PDAs, etc. (Lende, 2004). However, e learning is more dominant learning to use the internet (web based). Nevertheless, teachers are still need. For example in the teaching modules, the role of teachers as mentors to learn it was overlooked. In teaching through radio, teachers are still need, especially in developing and developed teaching design. Similarly in the teaching through television. Thus in any system of teaching, the teacher has always been an inseparable part, it plays only the role will vary according to the demands of the system. In teaching or teaching learning, process the teacher role as director and actor. This means that, in teacher duty

and responsibility to plan and implement instruction in schools. As already expressed above, that the role of a teacher is very significant in the teaching-learning process. The teacher's role in teaching and learning include many things such as teachers, classroom manager, supervisor, motivator, consular, exploratory, etc. Which will be presenting here is the role that is considered the most dominant and the classification of teachers as: 1) Demonstrator 2) The manager / manager-class 3) The mediator / facilitator 4) Evaluator I. Teacher as Demonstrator Through its role as a demonstrator, lecturer, or teacher, the teacher should always master the material or subject matter to be taught and constantly expanding in terms of increasing capacity in science that has as this will greatly determine learning outcomes achieved by students. One of the things that must be considered by the teacher is that he himself is a student. This means that teachers must learn constantly. That way he will enrich himself with a variety of knowledge, as stock in carrying out his duties as a demonstrator to be able to demonstrate what he teaches is didactic. The point is that it conveys what it is really owned by the students. II. Teachers as Classroom Management Teaching with success means there should be active involvement of students to learn. Both go hand in hand, no one ahead of teaching and learning because each has a role to influence each other. Success / success is determined by the teacher to teach students in learning activities, as well as student

success in learning is determined also by the role of teachers in teaching. Teaching means deliver or transmit the knowledge and views (Ad. Rooijakkers,1990:1). William Burton argued that teaching is defined effort to provide stimulus, guidance, direction, and encouragement to students to place the learning process. In this role is a very important teacher in managing the class bias that occurs PBM well. Teaching is the activity / activities carried out in the classroom teacher or the school environment. In the process of teaching, there must be an objective to be achieved by the teachers is to enable students to understand, understand, and can apply the knowledge they get. The purpose of teaching is also interpreted as a way to make the desired changes in behavior of a student (Muchtar & Samsu, 2001:39). In this case, of course, either teachers expect students to learn, in class or after the material, he received from the teacher. According to (2003:12), learning is an individual activity to acquire knowledge, attitudes, and skills by learning how to process materials. Teaching and learning process will go well if teachers and students both understood what materials will be studied so that there is an active interaction in the PBM in the classroom and this becomes the key to success in teaching. Thus, the learning process occurs in the student. Learning is a process in which the environment a person is intentionally organized to allow students to participate responded to the particular situation he faced (Corey, 1986:195) Students as subjects to learn, have a vision / hope in him for a teacher who they think is successful teaching in the classroom. What are the views of these students? According to a Teacher Vocational Etiwati the author quotes from website SMK 4 PENABUR he mentioned that teachers assess students' successful

teaching is the teacher who does not make students bored and scared have a sense of humor is not easily angered wanted to have a dialogue with students appreciate the opinions of students and not easy to blame appreciate the presence of students no favoritism toward students master & explain the material well and understood by students and will expose students back when there was not clear / not yet understood. III. The Teacher as A Mediator and Facilitator As a mediator teacher should have knowledge and understanding enough about the media because media education is a means of communication education in order to better streamline the teaching-learning process. Thus, it is clear that media education is an indispensable foundation that is complementary and an integral part for the success of the educational process. Teacher as facilitator should be able to pursue learning resources that would be useful and can support the achievement of the objectives and processes learning and teaching, whether in the form of speakers, textbooks, magazines or letters news. IV. Teachers as Evaluators In education, every type of education or educational form at certain times during a period of evaluation will be education, which means that at certain times during a period of education was always perform an assessment of results achieved, both by the educated and by the educators. Assessment needs to be done, because the assessment the teacher can see the success of achieving goals, student mastery of subjects, as well as the accuracy or effectiveness of teaching methods.

4.

Conclusion Based on the descriptions that have been described above, the writer can take several conclusions, including: 1) The teacher's role as a demonstrator in the PBM teachers should always mastered the material or subject matter to be taught and constantly expanding in terms of increasing capacity in science that has as this will greatly determine learning outcomes achieved by students. 2) In his capacity as the classroom management, a teacher is required to make a conductively atmosphere so that classroom learning or delivery of knowledge from teacher to student or exchange processes of science and knowledge among students with each other to work well. 3) As a mediator, teachers should have knowledge and understanding enough about the media because media education is a means of communication education in order to better on streamline the teaching-learning process. 4) Every teaching and learning activities the teacher should always do an evaluation or assessment, as with the assessment the teacher can see the success of achieving goals, student mastery of subjects, as well as the accuracy or effectiveness of teaching methods. To achieve the main goal of education should the role of educators is not only oriented to academic values that are fulfilling the cognitive aspects, but also oriented to how the students can learn from the environment and the greatness of the experience of others, the vast expanse of natural wealth, so with the decision of duties and role of teachers in education especially in teaching and learning activities teachers can be expected to know the duties and responsibilities as educators and the expected establishment of

a harmonious relationship with the participants that students expectations of education's goals could be easily realized.
