Why Catholic? Believe and Meet New People: Gathering with other parishioners to study and discuss our core beliefs as Catholics deepens our faith and brings us closer to God and to each other. All parishioners have this opportunity through the Why Catholic? process, which will focus on our credal beliefs this fall. Small groups will begin meeting weekly for six sessions beginning the week of October 6th, and new members are welcome to participate. Contact Deacon Carl, carlfahringer@bellsouth.net, for more information. When asked to join, be open to Gods invitation. RCIA: If you, or someone you know, have an interest in joining the Catholic Church, contact Marilena Wertz at 4778534 or mlwertz@wertz.us. Please pray for those on the journey and on the team, as well as those who are inquiring. Religious Education for Children and Youth: Our PK-8 classroom sessions continue as scheduled, and the High School group will meet for their study this Sunday, both from 9:45 11:15 AM. There is a Confirmation session from 12:30-2PM. If you have not yet registered your children, or if you have any questions about RE, contact Diane Black at dianecblack@bellsouth.net; Confirmation questions should be directed to Laura Zoeller, lauramzoeller@bellsouth.net. Adult Faith Formation: A 90-minute video on St. Paul and the places he traveled will be shown on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 6:30PM and Friday morning at 10:30 in the parish hall. This is an on-location video in the "Footprints of God" series. Mass and Sacraments Schedule: Many have adjusted to Saturday evening Mass being changed to 4:00 PM, effective August 31st. The first of the monthly celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance) will be this Saturday, September 21st (third Saturday) from 2:30-3:00 PM. Sacraments are also available, by appointment, with Fr. Dale. Note of Thanks: I give thanks for all of you who have shown your kindness after the death of my sister. The many people who made the long trip to Shively, prayed with my family, and even served as pall bearers eased our burdens considerably. God bless you, Deacon Carl Father Bill Hammer & Mr. Mo Shams will present An Introduction to Islam: A Dialogue at St. Francis Xavier Church on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 7 8 p.m. This presentation will further our understanding of Islam, as this faith has been highlighted recently in the news due to the complex issues facing the Middle East. All are invited to attend. St. Francis Xaviers Womens Club is holding their annual Bunco Party of Thursday, September 26th, at 7 PM in their Parish Hall. Admission is $10 per person. Contact Karen at 502/428-1299, or Michele at 502/939-9937. AA will meet at 7:30 PM each Tuesday in the Parish Hall. An open discussion format is used.
