1.2. The format of SETTING The 5 digits of SETTING means as follows: SETTING 0 0 0 0 0 digit 5 4 3 2 1 Recommendation Setting: 0 2 1 0 5

Please combine it to the format of the connection devices.

1.2.1. Digit 1: DR (Dead Reckoning) time in the interruption of GPS signal receiving 1=1 minute 2=2 minutes 3=3 minutes 4=4 minutes 5=5 minutes Other digits =1 minute The heading measurement by the rate sensor inside the processing unit is carried out at the time of the GPS signal receiving discontinuation. However, in that time, by the characteristic of the rate sensor the heading deviates gradually. Please set up appropriate DR time in accordance with the use purpose, because there is the possibility that the heading gradually deviates, although it can continue to use the heading effectively by making the time of above DR. The DR time is set up in 0 (=1 minute) at the factory shipment. (Recommendation: 5) 1.2.2 Digit 2: The HDT (50 ms and 100 ms) checksum (0 default)

0 (= with checksum) 1 (= without checksum) When this digit is set up in 1, the HDT (50 ms and 100 ms) sentence of NMEA becomes the data without a checksum. The HDT sentence of display data does not change. This is the measure of case that an old product receives NMEA Ver. 1.5 only. Digit 2 is set up in 0 at the factory shipment.

1.2.3

Digit 3: The time constant of internal filter (0 default)

0 (= small) 1 (= middle) 2 (= large) This digit applies a filter to the heading data. Please set up it in accordance with the purpose because the response becomes slow, although fluctuation decreases when the time constant is large. Digit 3 is set up in "0" at the factory shipment. (Recommendation: 1) 1.2.4 Digit 4: HDT output in the interruption of heading calculation (0 default)

0: (Output null) (i.e. $GPHDT,,T*hh<CR><LF>) 1: (Output last calculated value) 2: (Not output) This digit applies setting 1 or 2 to the specific autopilot or autopilot interface unit which cannot take the NULL sentence.

Combine it to the specification of the autopilot that connect.

Please set up digit 4 in 2, when HDT sentence is input to the specific autopilot. (When the connected autopilot interprets null as 0 degree, it is very dangerous because the vessel turns quickly.) Digit 4 is set up in "0" at the factory shipment. . (Recommendation: 2) 1.2.5 Digit 5: Not used (0 default)

Digit 5 is set up in "0" at the factory shipment. CAUTION: When it does the master reset, the setting value returns to default. Please set up SETTING once again, after it did the master reset.

WARNING
Install a buzzer to the boat when the digit 4 is set up in 1 or 2. The boat will take a turn to the left or right, if you did not notice that the GPS COMPASS stoped the heading calculation..

2. ALARM ACK (Alarm acknowledge mode) For safety of navigation, the alarm tone continues to be delivered when the heading calculation is started after the power is turned on and when the heading calculation is restarted after suspension of the original heading calculation. This is alarm acknowledge mode. This mode is set up in ON at the factory shipment. In case of alarm acknowledge mode OFF, the alarm sounds only at the time of NO HEADING. 2.1. Operation Screen Display example HEADING MENU TRUE HEADING TRUE PITCH TRUE ROLL NSK / NMEA NEXT MENU Select NEXT MENU HEADING MENU 2 INST ERR SETTING ALARM ACK 000 0 2 1 0 5 ON 000. 0 + 00. 0 + 00. 0 NSK

(1) Push "MENU" key in the "HEADING" screen. "HEADING MENU" appears. (2) Turn "DIAL", select "NEXT MENU" and push "ENT". (3) Turn "DIAL", select "ALARM ACK" and push "ENT". (4) Turn "DIAL", select ON or OFF and push "ENT".

2.2. Details of the alarm acknowledge mode ON [The acknowledge procedure of heading calculation] (1) The alarm tone continues to be delivered when the heading calculation is started after the power is turned on and when the heading calculation is restarted after suspension of the original heading calculation. The alarm tone sounds in one-second intervals: "pip, pip, -----" (2) Check on the display that the NO HEADING does not blink and the heading has normally been calculated, and then push the [CLR] key on the display to stop the alarm tone. Uncalculating Heading Calculating Heading

Blinking (3) When the alarm tone is stopped, the following bearing data is outputted from the processing unit: RADAR and OPTION connectors: NSK data or heading data F (50 ms interval) NMEA connector: Heading data S (100 ms interval) 2.3. Details of the alarm acknowledge mode OFF [The acknowledge procedure of heading calculation] (1) The alarm tone automatically stops to be delivered when the heading calculation is started after the power is turned on and when the heading calculation is restarted after suspension of the original heading calculation. (2) Check on the display that the NO HEADING does not blink and the heading has normally been calculated. (3) When the alarm tone stops, the following bearing data is outputted from the processing unit: RADAR and OPTION connectors: NSK data or heading data F (50 ms interval) NMEA connector: Heading data S (100 ms interval) For the details of the data, refer to "Appendix 4 Data Output" in the INSTRUCTION MANUAL.

CAUTION
Install the antenna as following figure. If it is installed at improper place, interruption of the heading calculation can be caused.
An open space which allows reception signals.
Radome

Away from the inmarsat antenna by at least 5 m and below the level of its antenna.

uniform of satellite

Not in the shadow of the mast.

Install the antenna and processing unit in the ships heading direction and horizontally. error is 5 degrees. The allowable Away from the radar

antenna by at least 2 m.

This unit determines the heading by measuring the direction between two antennas using signal, carrier wave, from the GPS satellites. First, it is necessary for calculating the heading to receive five or more satellite signals in each antenna unit. After determining the heading, the unit needs four or more satellites. Therefore, the antenna should be installed where there is no viewing obstacle, in order to ensure that GPS signals can be directly received from satellites without interference or reflection of signals from surrounding objects. If it is installed at an improper place, interruptions of calculating heading can be caused. 7ZPNA0190A Japan Radio Co., Ltd.
