FBI DOCUMENT REQUEST NO. 12

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (the
"Commission") requests that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI or the
"respondent") provide the Commission with copies of the following
documents no later than September 26, 2003 (the "production date"):
Thomas H. Kean
1. Any documents that were relied upon in compiling the al Qaeda
HAIR organizational charts provided to the Commission staff at the
September 8, 2003 roundtable discussion.
Lee H. Hamilton
The Commission requests that these documents be provided in English
VICE CHAIR translation.

Elichard Ben-Veniste The Commission requests that the documents requested above be provided as
soon as they are available, even though all requested documents may not be
Max Cleland provided at the same time, through means of a "rolling" production.

Fred F. Fielding
If any requested documents are withheld from production, even temporarily,
Jamie S. Gorelick based on an alleged claim of privilege or for any other reason, the
Commission requests that the respondent, as soon as possible and in no event
later than the production date, identify and describe each such document or

FBI Document Request No.

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States ("the
Commission") requests that the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI or
the "respondent") provide the Commission with copies of the following materials no later
than September , 2003 (the "production date"):

any documents that were relied upon in compiling the Al Qaeda organizational
charts that were provided to Commission staffers by an FBI agent during a
September 8, 2003 roundtable discussion.

We request that the foregoing documents be provided in English translation.

The Commission further requests that the documents requested above be provided as
soon as they are available, even though all requested documents may not be provided
at the same time, through means of a "rolling" production.

If any requested documents are withheld from production, even temporarily, based on
an alleged claim of privilege or for any other reason, the Commission requests that
the respondent, as soon as possible and in any event no later than the production date,
identify and describe each document or class of documents, as well as the alleged
basis for not producing it, with sufficient specificity to allow a meaningful challenge
to any such withholding.

If the respondent does not have possession, custody or control of any requested
documents but has information about where such documents may be located, the
Commission requests that the respondent provide such information as soon as
