KeyresultsofWFAinPorceriverbasin
Thebasinisaffectedbyageneralreductionintheavailabilityofwaterbecauseofquality,notquantityissues. ThesustainabilityassessmentofthegreenWF showsthatthecompetitionforgreenwaterbetweenthe agriculturalandlivestocksectorsandtheneedsoftheenvironmenttoguaranteethenaturalflowtoprovide environmentalservicesisamajorissueallalongthebasin.TheseresultsshowtheExpansionofthe AgriculturalFrontier. Therearemunicipalities,locatedinthenorthofthebasin,withgreatamountsofwaterandlandand importanteconomicsectorsthatcreatewealthfromthesenaturalresources,buttheyhavelowqualityoflife indicators,andpoorcoverageofwatersupplyandsanitationinruralareas. Wefoundahugegapinthegoldminingsector,thatiscreatingamassiveenvironmentalimpact,andthere isntgoodinformationavailableandurgentlyneedsmorestudiestoknowtherealimpactfortheColombian environment. Thecooperationbetween16organizations,fromseveralsectorsanddifferentlocations,thatprovidethe local,nationalandinternationalperspective,andworkingtogethertowardsacommongoal,withlongterm view.Morethanthenumericalresults,theprojectandtheprocessesitselfisoneofthekeyresultsofthis project.
