On Ekadashi day Mahaprabhu, who is the life and soul of all beings, decreed that every-one should gather for kirtana. Hearing the sound of His own name, He began to dance in ecstasy. (1)

In Shrivasa-angana, Shrivasa Thakuras divine courtyard, He inaugurated the auspicious reverberations of the kirtana in a booming voice: Gopala! Govinda! (2)

In the courtyard the sounds of the mridanga, small cymbals, conch, karatalas and beautiful singing all mixed together. (3)

The loud sound passed through the entire brahmanda and filled the whole sky (reaching Svetadvipa), destroying everything inauspicious in all the fourteen worlds. (4)

From morning Vishvambhara (He who nourishes and maintains the whole universe by bhakti) started dancing. Many groups sang charmingly - each group singing a different melody. (5)

Shrivasa Pandita was the guru of one group of kirtaniyas, and Mukunda was the lead singer of another. (6)

Govinda Ghosha was the head of another group. Gaurachandra danced in the middle of the whole kirtana party. (7)

The mighty Nityananda Prabhu protected Mahaprabhu when He swooned while dancing as Advaita Acarya secretly took His foot-dust at that time. (8)

Tears came to Gadadhara, Mukunda, Shridhara and others upon hearing Mahaprabhus kirtana, as the rising of ashta-sattvika bhavas overwhelmed their hearts. (9)

Vishvambhara danced with so much force that the earth trembled, causing all the devotees to become afraid. (10)

Sometimes Vishvambhara danced so gracefully and sweetly that He appeared to be natavara Nanda-nandana, the best of dancers. (11)

Mahaprabhus beauty is unequalled and unsurpassed, defeating even Krishnas beauty (even Krishna has no mahabhava). All His followers eyes filled with ananda seeing His dancing. (12)

Mahaprabhu Vishvambhara danced, absorbed in ananda. Hearing the rhythm of His dancing feet, the devotees became spellbound. (13)

As Mahaprabhu danced, being filled with bhava, His garland could not stay around His neck but broke, all the flowers falling at the feet of His devotees. (14)

The auspicious sounds of shri harinama-sankirtana spread in every direction while Jagannatha Mishras son danced in the midst of all the devotees. (15)

Shiva chants the same blissful name and becomes so absorbed in prema that his cloth falls down. Hearing Mahaprabhus glories, Shiva starts to dance, and Mahaprabhu, hearing His own glories, also dances. (16)

By this same nama Valmiki achieved the wealth of austerity - he saw all rama-lila. And by this same nama all of Ajamilas anarthas and aparadhas were pulled out by the root. (17)

Hearing shri krishna-nama totally cuts all worldly attachments. Shri Krishna Himself came in Kali-yuga as Mahaprabhu, dancing and advising all to chant krishna-nama. (18)

Shukadeva and Narada also chant this krishna-nama and distribute it. With thousands of tongues Mahaprabhu sings the glories of this nama. (19)

Taking Mahaprabhus name constitutes the highest form of atonement. Seeing Mahaprabhu dancing, the devotees became supremely fortunate. (20)

Seeing Mahaprabhus bliss, the devotees embraced each other and wept loudly (as the rays of Mahaprabhus ananda entered their hearts). (21)

All the devotees attended kirtana and Mahaprabhu personally decorated their bodies with candana and garlands. Shri Gaurasundara and the devotees sang and tasted krishnarasa with great joy. (22)

Absorbed in kirtana, all the Vaishnava devotees completely lost sense of their own bodies and everyone else around them. (23)

Jaya krishna, murari, mukunda, vanamali. Day and night all the devotees sang kirtana in great happiness. (24)

Vishvambhara danced twenty-four hours with His devotees but never tired, because His body was sattva-kalevara, fully transcendental. (25)

Daily Mahaprabhu (in full prema) danced in kirtana the whole night, and only stopped three hours before sunrise. (26)

Daily Mahaprabhu, the hero who enjoys the prema-rasa of Vaikuntha (Svetadvipa), tasted and distributed great bliss in Navadvipa. (27)

Gaurachandra and all His associates enter in the hearts of the devotees who hear the allvirtuous hari-katha with full faith. (Thus their hearts become Shrivasa-angana.) (28)

Vrindavana dasa says, Shri Krishna Chaitanya and the moon-like Nityananda Prabhu are my life and soul and I offer my dandavat-pranama at Their lotus feet. (29)

TRANSLATION (Introductory Verse) The glorious Rama once visited Ahobala, where He saw the deity of Lord Nrsimha. He offered His obeisances to Lord Kamalapati (husband of the goddess of fortune) and prayed as follows.

1) O Govinda, Kesava, Janardana, Vasudeva, Visvesa (the controller of the universe), Visva, Madhusudana, Visvarupa, Sri Padmanabha, Purusottama, Puskaraksa, Narayana, Acyuta. O Lord Nrsimha I offer my respectful obeisances unto You again and again.

2) I have taken shelter of Lord Nrsimha unto whose lotus feet demigods, prominent yogis, gandharvas, vidyadharas and kinnaras, are constantly offering their obeisances.

3) I have taken shelter of Lord Nrsimha by whose mercy people receive all the Vedas, the essence of all scriptures, knowledge, strength, reputation and wealth.

4) You are Lord Brahma, Lord Siva and the best person Lord Narayana. You are the master of the Marutas and You are the sun, the moon, air and the fire as well as the Marut -ganas. I offer my obeisances unto You.

5) I offer my obeisances unto Lord Nrsimha who is the creator, the maintainer and the destroyer of the entire universe. Although You perform all of these three acts simultaneously You are completely beyond these activities. You are the all pervading, unlimited supreme spirit.

(Concluding Verses) Praying this way the best of the Raghus, Lord Ramacandra worshipped Lord Hari. At that time the demigods showered a rain of flowers on the head of Lord Nrsimhadeva.

This is the best of prayers, called pancamrta or five nectars compiled by Lord Rama Himself. One who reads this will be liberated eternally.

REMARKS/ EXTRA INFORMATION: Verses 1 to 5 shown numerically are the verses supporting the actual prayer by Lord Ramacandra.
