nTC has a wide range of courses which can be taken either as stand-alone units or as part of an award of the College. This autumn we are offering mA options in Biblical Studies and in Christian Spirituality (great continuing education options). We are also offering a wide range of undergraduate courses: take an evening to think about theology and art (and roll up your sleeves!); take the time to learn some hebrew; get some sound foundations for interpreting the Bible; or dig deep into Old or new Testament, the intricacies of Theology, or reflect on Islam in Contemporary Britain (more info inside). Contextualising Scripture: Second Temple Period

Urban Ministry and Mission

With Revd Dr Deirdre Brower Latz and Andrew Grinnel January 6th 17th Offers a foundation in reading the city, considering aspects of the city, its culture, its nature and its needs. Drawing on key resources, the course explores and critically considers the multifaceted nature of cities and ministry and mission in them. .

Tuesday evenings, 7:00 - 9:00, from Sept 24th Introduction to Biblical Studies is a first-level introduction to Scripture and its interpretation. It provides a great overview of the Bible, its origins, and the means by which our modern translations come to us. It will teach you how to make interpretation, help you engage with and evaluate different approaches to the text, and develop your own integrity through awareness of your preconceptions and those of others. In this class, you will Gain an overview of the history of Biblical interpretation Have a sense of the range of theological and philosophical preconceptions underlying Biblical interpretation Develop a working grasp of the tools of Biblical criticism Wrestle with the relative merits of evidence and arguments used by Biblical scholars Become aware of the complexities of generating contemporary applications of Biblical teaching

Dr Sarah Whittle is an NTC faculty member with a particular specialism in the area of New Testament and Paul. Her research explores Pauls use of Scripture in the Letter to the Romans. Born and bred in Manchester, Sarah is also a keen drummer, a Manchester United fan, and involved in ministry in an urban congregation in Manchester.
