MONTH OF DIVINE COMPLETENESS Col.

2:1-10
This is month of Divine Completeness, a month when the Lord who has visited us
(month of May) and repositioned us (Month of June) will complete everything that
is missing in our lives and destiny. In the beginning when God created man in His
Image and likeness, man was a complete being. But when man fell he became naked
and incomplete. Sin diminished the value of man; for all have sinned and fell
short of the glory of God (Rom3:23). All human race fell with Adam and died in him
but thank God for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so
that all can come alive through Him (1Cor. 5:22, John3:16)
Nothing I can do, say, or accomplish can complete me; it is only in when I am in
Christ that I’m complete. Our world is constantly seeking to be complete. We are
searching for something to fulfill us; make us feel complete, whole, and worth
while. We are searching for something that we know is missing in our lives. We are
not satisfied with what we have. We are always on the lookout for the next new
thing to make us happy and fulfilled, whether it be a new job, a new relationship,
or a new toy. All these things leave us feeling unsatisfied. The new, bright shiny
gleam is soon lost and we are once again looking for that thing to complete us,
but it is only Christ that can complete us.
Nothing can ever fill the vacuum in man; the Economist confirmed that human wants
are insatiable, St Augustine of Hippo – a Theologian born in AD 384 said “There is
a God-shaped hole in everyman’s heart”. However, Augustine's prayed to God and
said, "You have created us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until
they rest in you." The meaning of the God-shaped hole is the innate longing of the
human heart for something outside itself, something magnificent, something
“other.”
Now from Paul’s letter to the Colossians and also elucidated in his letters to the
Philippians and Corinthians, Paul asserted that the vacuum in man can only be fill
up in Christ Jesus. Only God can fill that missing hole in our lives. We just
have to open and willing to let Him fill that hole. Anything else outside of God
is incomplete, that God shaped hole in your heart is only complete in God.
Col 2:9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
Vs: 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
John 1: 16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
No matter our fear, need and uncertainty, when we are in Christ Jesus we are
complete, the following gives us confidence of our completeness in Him:
1. He is the Alpha and Omega Rev. 1:8 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End," says the Lord, "who is and who was and who is to come, the
Almighty."
There cannot be anything complete as He who is the beginning and the end. Jesus is
the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet that means He is A-Z. In Daddy
G.O (Pastor A.E Adeboye) said “That Jesus is A-Z means Jesus Christ is the
beginning and the ending of every literary work or drawing, which gives Him
absolute control and power over everything that is written on earth, in Heaven or
beneath the earth”. To everyone who is in Christ Jesus, being our Alpha and Omega
means He is able to control everything that is written concerning you, He can blot
out any negative writing, that has made you incomplete, and modify or completely
rewrite you the story of your life, which means if you have been written off
because of the issues in your life that has made you incomplete, the Alpha and
Omega will write you in and make you complete in Him.
2. He is the head of principality and power (Col. 2:10). Ephesians 6: 12 “For
we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against
powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places.”
Principalities and powers are the greatest enemy of man who do everything possible
to make sure man is incomplete. But thank God that the Alpha and Omega dismantled
principalities and powers and make an open show of them; Col 2: 15 Having disarmed
principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over
them in it” He triumph over every power that will make us incomplete it is only in
Him that any man can be complete.
3. It is in Christ that “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” exist
(Col.2:3).The Yorubas will say what you are looking for in Sokoto is in your
Trousers (sokoto). The greatest vacuum and yearning of every man is present in
Christ Jesus. Jesus is the power and wisdom of God (1Co 1:24). Prov. 4:7 “Wisdom
is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get
understanding” Prov 16”16 confirmed that wisdom is better than Gold, no wonder
when God asked King Solomon what shall I give you (1kings 3:5) Solomon asked for
the principal thing –wisdom (vs 9). No matter the vacuum in the life of any man,
when connected to the source of wisdom- Jesus Christ, there is no doubt that
vacuum will be filled up. We are complete only when we find the wisdom that He has
for us.
4. It is in Christ we have inexhaustible fountain of living water Jer 2:13,
Ps 36:9; Jer. 17:13; 18:14; John 4:14
5. It is only in Christ that we can find salvation. Acts 4:12 – “Nor is there
salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by
which we must be saved.” No kind of healing, whether for body or soul, can come
through any but Jesus Christ. He is the only one that can save us from sin (Mat
1:21) Peter used the opportunity of a man who has been incomplete from birth, and
sat at the beautiful gate for alms to introduce the One who made the man complete.
The word salvation properly denotes any preservation, or keeping anything in a
safe state; a preserving it from harm. It signifies, also, deliverance from any
evil of body or mind; from pain, sickness, danger, etc
Even as we seek to fill a physical vacuum, there is this vacuum in the heart of
every man that can only be filled by Christ Jesus which is His primary work This
work refers primarily to a deliverance of the soul from sin, Mt 1:21; Act 5:31; Lu
4:18; Ro 8:21; Ga 5:1. It then denotes, as a consequence of freedom from sin,
freedom from all the ills to which sin exposes man and the attainment of that
perfect peace and joy which shall be bestowed on the children of God in the
heavens. Deliverance from any temporal calamity should lead the thoughts to that
higher redemption which the Lord Jesus contemplates in regard to the soul. Its
only in the name of Jesus that we can be complete physically, spiritually and
eternally Mr 16:17-18, Ac 10:43; 1Ti 2:5-6,1Cor. 3 11-12.
To Remain Complete in Him we must:
• To be complete in Christ, we must “walk in Him.” (Col. 2:6)
• To be complete in Christ we must resist false teachings (Col. 2:8). I Tim.
4:1-3, II Pet. 2:1
• To be complete in Christ we must be established in the faith (Col. 2:7)
• To be complete in Christ we must abound in our faith with thanksgiving
(2:7c). Col. 1:12, Col. 3:15, Ps. 100:4, I Thes. 5:18.
Prayer:
Father God, thank you that only in you I am complete. Thank you that you treasure
me as a priceless pearl and you were willing to sacrifice your only Son to make me
a complete and a brand new person. God I want to thank you for making my life all
that it is meant to me. Amen
