Hypothesis driven science: scientific method

What is a scientific theory, and how is it different from a hypothesis?

Thinking about learningand exam questions Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO)

Lower Level
Recall or know a single fact
Name, Label, Match, Identify, Define.

Upper Level
Integrated understanding of a system
Comprehend a system. Compare/contrast. Categorize. Assess novel situations, hypothesize. Select/justify diagnosis or treatment.

Recall or know several facts

Name/identify multiple items. Label a diagram.

Extend understanding to novel situation, integrate systems

Review of question levels posted on Sakai

An example system: Diabetes and blood glucose regulation
