Linda DeSantis Director of Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs Atlantic Cape Community College 5100 Black Horse Pike Mays Landing, NJ 08330-2699 Dear Ms. DeSantis, Although I can find no mention of a Student Loan Appeal in any of Atlantic Cape Community Colleges literature or on its website, because I am in a precarious situation, I am complying with your request and this letter is my official appeal for the Student Loan to be granted. In previous correspondence to administrators and staff of Atlantic Cape Community College (ACCC), I informed them that I am currently in an abusive relationship (please note that although I just recently reconnected with this person in December 2012, I have known him since the age of thirteen). Due to the fact that I have never experienced anything of this magnitude, in any of my personal relationships, I, unfortunately, found it extremely difficult to focus on my studies during the Spring 2013 semester. Because I did not want to fail my classes, I rationalized that it would behoove me to ask my instructors for Incomplete I grades. According to the administrators in Counseling and Support Services, my GPA went from a 2.87 to a 1.1 after my US History 103 instructor, Margaret Schohl, arbitrarily decided to remove an Incomplete I grade and replace it with an "F. Consequently, I was unfairly placed on Academic Suspension which resulted in not only my aid being denied, but also me not being able to attend college on a full-time basis. Ms. DeSantis, I am contending that I should not be on Academic Suspension. In addition, as I pointed out in my September 10, 2013 letter, because I complied with the stipulations in the initial Student Loan Appeal" and my Financial Aid Appeal had been granted for this academic year, I believed that the Student Loan would automatically be granted. Please note that although I do have personal evidence in relation to violent encounters with this person, as is usually the case with most domestic violence situations, I never sought medical attention. In addition, please note that the only person who is aware of this situation is my daughter. Nevertheless, I feel that it is disturbingly inappropriate for me to ask my daughter to substantiate abusive events that have occurred in my personal life, and I will not do so in order to get approved for a Student Loan. Therefore, in relation to documentation or evidence to support my claims of abuse, I have none, other than this statement, that is appropriate for submittal to the college. I want to make it clear that because I refuse to comply with my abuser's repeated attempts to violate me, I am about to be evicted from his residence. Please understand that when this is done, I will be homeless. Ms. DeSantis, it is unnecessary for me to attempt to complete my studies as a homeless woman or one living in a shelter. Therefore, I am imploring you to please empathize with my situation and approve the disbursement of my Student Loan. Sincerely,

Angela Martin Student ID #0558464
