Information Transfer
In this section you are requested to transfer information accurately and appropriately from a text
to a given framework. You will need to write a short paragraph or paragraphs on your choices.
The information can be presented in the form of an advertisement, a menu, a poster, a
description, a label, a leaflet, etc
Useful Guide.
1. Note carefully the differences between the three items.
2. Complete the table by matching the details given.
3. In your composition, always give a reason why you should and want to select one instead
of the other. Build up your vocabulary of adjectives and adverbs to enable you to use the
correct and best word to describe and support your choice.
4. Be careful about using adjectives and adverbs. An adjective is used to modify a noun or
pronoun, to give more information about the size, shape, colour or age of a person, a
place or a thing. An adverb is used to modify or qualify a verb, an adjective or another
adverb, to give more information about an action or the state of an action.
5. Pay attention to your tenses. Your argument states facts, so use more modal verbs to
express possibility, intention, ability, etc can, could, may , might, must. Shall, should,
will, would.
6. Use conjunctions to show contrast between two sentences or two clauses, and also to
emphasis your choice, e.g. although, however, in addition, furthermore, so.
7. Read your composition after you have completed it. Check for mistakes in spelling,
grammar and punctuation.
8. You will be assessed on your ability to transfer information accurately and to write a
composition.

9. The composition will be rated as Excellent, Credit, Achievement or Low

Achievement depending on the use of language and ability to express ideas.
10. Use a variety of sentence structures and a wide range of vocabulary to express ideas.
Ideas must be clearly expressed, well presented and linked. Accurate use of spelling and
punctuation is essential.
