If one had to compare Chinese and American mothers, one would see the palpable difference in parenting.

The only demeanor they share is the unconditional love they bare for their Children. The methods used by Chinese mothers to prepare their children for the future directly contradict that of the American mothers; primordially when it comes down to academics. The amount of attentiveness to the child's performance in school and the type of punishments used are what usually causes a great anomaly amongst the Chinese and American mothers. The democratic household of Americans gives one a clue as to the kind of discipline used by American parents. The punishment is usually not severe, and rewards are admirable and sometimes expensive in nature. In Chinese culture, the only reward would be the promise of success, while their form of punishment would be seen as abuse here in America. These actions would lead one to ask ones self. Is it predictable that Chinese children are more likely to succeed than western children because of how they are raised?

Political: The United States is a predominantly Democratic Country; the nation is formed and directed by a government that comes into power through elections, its citizens vote for our Future Leaders and the laws that are put in place to regulate society, we as a nation have a chance to change what we do not like. Simply put and as President Abraham Lincoln once stated Government of the people, by the people, for the people. Western Parents are more laid back and allow their children to make decisions as to what they want to do in life, by allowing them to pursue their dreams and provide them with appropriate encouragement just like they (the Parents) were accustomed to by their parents and by their active role in the United states Government. While China is a communist Nation. In which they have no voice or vote in what happens to them. All of the decisions are bequeathed by the Nations Dictator. As Chinese parents do to their children According to Document 1(Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior), Chinese parents believe that they know what is best for their children and therefore override all of their childrens own desires and preferences.(Document 1/ Paragraph: 13/sentence: 1); just as their oppressive government has accustomed them to. Religious: Although the United States is a multicultural nation it has been establish that the predominant religion is in Fact Christianity, even though we are a Christian Nation American parents dont seem to cling to their religious ideals when it comes to raising their Children. As opposed to Chinese parent who strongly believe and keepsake their religious ideals throughout their childrens upbringing. One such American, named Jed says Children dont choose their parents, they dont even choose to be born. Its the parents who foist life on their kids, so its the parents responsibility to provide for them. Kids dont owe their parents anything. Their duty will be to their own kids. (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 12/ sentences: 2-6). One would have to ask

ones self if this concept is a fruitful one. One would speculate as to whether the ideals of Chinese parents would be similar to those of the parents residing in the western hemisphere. The answer is all but predictable according to Chinese parents they believe that their children owe them everything. (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 11/ Sentence: 1); one has reason to believe that this theory was brought into existence by the Confusion Filial Piety (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 11/ Sentence: 2); is a virtue of respect for one's parents and ancestors. Which explain why Chinese Parent have this Concept that Chinese Children must spend the rest of their lives repaying their parents by obeying them and making them proud. (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 11/ Sentence: 4) their fore one can clearly infer that religious ideal make a gargantuan impact in the way children are raised in China. Their traditions dont change throughout the decades, they stay intact and play an active role in the way they raise their Children.

Social: From a social standpoint both cultures clash head on in a withstanding rivalry for success. While Western Parent worry about their childrens future they dont order their Children to get straight A. (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 7/Sentence: 1) as Chinese parents do. They on the other hand Ask their kids to try their best. (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 7/Sentence: 2) many American parents have reason to believe that stressing their children to achieve academically isnt the best method to make a positive impact in their lives. American parents give their children praise for their academic success even if their grades arent spotless. Chinese parents on the other hand take a different route when it comes to expressing their view on their childrens grades. They will not hesitate to call their children Stupid, Worthless, or a Disgrace. (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 9/Sentence: 4). Americans on the other hand are very careful when it comes to expressing their disapproval so that they dont make their children feel inadequate. (Document: 1/ Paragraph: 9/Sentence:4); In America many parents believe that by making their child feel inadequate, they will in turn feel like social out casts. One can infer that Chinese parents on the other hand believe that by shunning their children they will strive harder to be accepted not only by their parents but by their peers and by society in general.

Simply put, and after doing some needed research one can clearly infer that Chinese children are more likely to succeed that Western Children, their parents dont simply settle for something that is seen as good in the eyes of many they want better. They push their children to the breaking point and force them to excel above all in not only one field but rather in a wide variety. Western parents love to see their children succeed but dont push them to their limits because in their eyes that is seen as a form of abuse and even torture. They believe that their children will eventually find their way. Essentially one can infer after debating this topic that Chinese children are more

than likely to succeed that Western children because of the overwhelming amount of pressure that is placed on them; along with being obligated to do better by their parents.
