Hay 2 formas de conectar el adaptador en la compitadora: 1.- Conecte directamente el adaptador a un puerto USB disponible de la computadora. 2.- Use el cable incluido para conectar el adaptador a un puerto USB. 3.- El asistente de instalacin le pedir seleccionar un tipo de instalacin. Se recomienda que seleccione Install Cliente Utilities and Driver. Seleccione Install driver only para instalar nicamente el driver, o seleccione Make Driver Installation Diskette(s) para realizar un diskette como ejecutable que contenga el driver de instalacin. Seleccione Install Cliente Utilities and Driver y presione Next para continuar con la instalacin.

4.- Seleccione la carpeta destino donde se instalar el software posteriormente presione el botn Browse. Presione Next continuar con la instalacin.

7.- En la siguiente pantalla presione Aceptar para continuar con la instalacin

Despus de instalar el Adaptador, un cono se mostrar en la barra de tareas. Este cono indicar la intensidad de seal de acuerdo a un color y la fuerza en que se recibe una seal (RSSI). Si el cono es gris, no hay conexin. Si el cono es rojo, hay una seal pobre y el RSSI es menor a 5dB

Si el cono es amarillo, hay una seal pobre y el RSSI se encuentra entre 5dB y 10dB

Si el cono es verde, hay una buena seal y el RSSI se encuentre entre 10dB y 20dB Si el cono es verde, hay una excelente seal y el RSSI es mayor a 20dB Presione dos veces sobre el cono y la pantalla de Estado Actual (Current Status) se mostrar en pantalla. Control Channel: Muestra el canal actual de conexin

Para agregar una nueva configuracin de perfil, presione New en la opcin de Gestin de Perfiles. Para modificar la configuracin de un perfil, seleccione la configuracin de la lista de perfiles y presione Modify. la siguiente pantalla se mostrar:

1.- Edicin de la opcin General Nombre de perfil (Profile Name): Identifica la configuracin del perfil. Este nombre debe ser nico. Nombre de cliente (Client Name): Identifica al computadora de cliente. Nombre de redes (Network Names ) (SSIDs) : Muestra el nombre de la red inalmbrica IEEE 802.11. Este campo tiene un lmite mximo de 32 caracteres.

AGREGAR O MODIFICAR LA CONFIGURACIN DE UN PERFIL

2.- Edicin de la opcin de Seguridad (Security) Permite editar los campos en la opcin de Seguridad para configurar un perfil. Para definir el modo de seguridad, seleccione el botn del modo de seguridad deseado.

WPA/WPA2: Acceso protegido a Wi-Fi WPA/WPA2 Passphrase: Acceso protegido por contrasea a Wi-Fi 802.1x: Activa la seguridad 802.1x Llave compartida (WEP esttica): Activa el uso de llaves compartidas que son definidas tanto en el access point como en la estacin. Para definir las llaves encriptadas compartidas, seleccione el botn de Shared Key y presione el botn de Configure para completar la ventana de Define Shared Keys. Ninguna (None): No existe seguridad alguna (no recomendado) Antes de utilizar su nuevo Kit C El modo de seguridad WEP no est disponible para 802.11n. Si el access point que el adaptador inalmbrico est asociando tiene la opcin WEP como opcional y el cliente la tiene activada, asegrese de que la opcin Allow Association to Mixed Cell localizada en la barra de Seguridad est seleccionada.

Antes de utilizar su nuevo Kit C Para completar la configuracin de encriptacin WEP, deber seleccionar 802.11 Authentication Mode. en la ficha Opciones avanzadas de este perfil de Management dialog.

Antes de utilizar su nuevo Kit C un Access point o Ruteador En RED infraestructura contiene inalmbrico. Todos los dispositivos inalmbricos o clientes se conectarn al ruteador inalmbrico o access point. En RED Ad-Hoc contiene solo clientes, como laptops con adaptador inalmbrico. Todos los adaptadores deben comunicarse en modo Ad-Hoc. Modo inalmbrico (wireless mode) Especifica la operacin de 2.4 GHz 300Mbps, 2.4 GHz 54 Mbps o 2.4 GHz 11 Mbps en una red access point. El adaptador inalmbrico debe coincidir con el modo inalmbrico del access point con el que est asociado. Modo inalmbrico cuando se inicia una red Ad Hoc: Especifica 2.4 GHz 300/54/11 Mbps para iniciar una red ad hoc si no coincide con el nombre de red despus de buscar por todos los modos disponibles. Este modo tambin permite la seleccin de canal que utiliza el adaptador inalmbrico. Los canales disponibles dependen del dominio de regulacin. Si el adaptador no encuentra otros adaptadores ad hoc, El canal seleccionar automticamente que adapatador empezar en red Ad hoc. El adaptador inalmbrico debe coincidir con el modo inalmbrico y el canal del cliente con el que est asociado.

Modo de ahorro de energa

Automtico (Automatic)- Provoca que el adaptador intente la autentificacin utilizando Compartido, pero cambia a autentificacin Abierta si el Compartido falla. Sistema abierto (Open system) - activa un adaptador para intentar la autentificacin sin importar los ajustes WEP. nicamente se asociar con el access point si los parmetros Wep en el adaptador y el access point coinciden. Llave compartida (Shared-key) nicamente permite que el adaptador se asocie con el access point que tenga la misma llave WEP. Para RED infraestructura (access point) , presione Preferred APs para especificar hasta 4 access points al cliente adaptador que intente asociarse con los access points. Los 4 Access point tienen diferentes prioridades: el primero tiene alta prioridad.

Modo de autentificacin 802.11 Selecciona que modo de autentificacin utiliza el adaptador inalmbrico con un access point:

BORRAR UN PERFIL 1.- Vaya a la barra de Administracin de perfiles (Profile Management). 2.- Seleccione el perfil que desee borrar de Lista de Perfiles. 3.- Presione Remove. Antes deque utilizar su nuevo Kit Cpuede borrarse. El perfil esta utilizando no CAMBIAR A OTRO PERFIL 1.- Vaya a la barra de Administracin de perfiles (Profile Management). 2.- Presione sobre el nombre del perfil en la Lista de Perfiles 3.- Presione Activate. EXPORTAR UN PERFIL 1.- Desde la barra de Administracin de Perfiles, seleccione el perfil que desea exportar. 2.- Presione el botn Export... la ventana de Exportacin de Perfil aparecer. 3.- Busque el directorio donde desea guardar el perfil exportado. 4.- Presione Save. El perfil deber ser exportado a la direccin especificada.

IMPORTAR UN PERFIL 1.- Desde la barra de Administracin de Perfiles, presione Import... La opcin de Importar Perfil aparecer. 2.- Busque el directorio donde se encuentra el perfil que desea utilizar. 3.- Seleccione el nombre del perfil. 4.- Presione Open, el perfil importado aparecer en la Lista de Perfiles.

BSQUEDA DE REDES DISPONIBLES 1.- Presione Scan en la barra de Administracin de Perfiles (profiles management), las redes Ad Hoc y access point disponibles aparecern en una ventana. 2.- Presione Refresh para actualizar la lista cada cierto tiempo. 3.- Seleccione una red y presione Activate para conectarse a esa red. Si no existe una configuracin de perfil para esa red, se abrir la opcin de General. Introduzca un nombre de Perfil y presione OK para crear una configuracin de perfil para esa red.

Esta funcin permite seleccionar al adaptador inalmbrico un perfil de la lista de Perfiles y utilizarlo para conectarse a la red. Para agregar un nuevo perfil dentro de esta lista, siga estos pasos: 1.- En la barra de Administracin, presione Order Profiles... 2.- El administrador de auto seleccin de perfiles se muestra en pantalla, con una lista de todos los perfiles creados en la opcin de Perfiles Disponibles.

3.- Seleccione los perfiles que desee agregar a la seleccin de perfiles automticos, y presione Add. The perfil aparecer en la opcin de Perfiles Auto Seleccionados. 4.- Seleccione un perfil de esta lista. 5.- Presione Move Up o Move Down como sea necesario. Antes de utilizar su Kit C El primer perfil de lanuevo lista tiene una prioridad alta, y el ltimo tendr una prioridad baja. 6.- Presione OK. 7.- Revise la opcin de Perfile Auto Seleccionados en la barra de Administracin de Perfiles.

ADMINISTRACIN DE AUTO SELECCIN DE PERFILES

Antes de utilizar su nuevo Kit automtico C Cuando la seleccin de perfil est activado por la opcin de Auto Seleccin de Perfiles en la barra de Administracin de Perfiles, el adaptador cliente buscar por todas las redes disponibles. El perfil con la prioridad ms alta y el SSID encontrados sern los utilizados para conectarse a la red. Si la conexin falla, el cliente adaptador intentar el siguiente perfil en prioridad que coincida con el SSID hasta que encuentre una red disponible. DIAGNOSTICOS La barra de Diagnsticos provee botones que son utilizados para recibir y enviar estadsticas. Esta barra no requiere de ninguna configuracin. REVISAR INFORMACIN DEL DRIVER Esta opcin contiene informacin general acerca de la interfase de la tarjeta de red (adaptador inalmbrico) y especificaciones de interfase del driver de la red (NDIS). Acceda a la informacin del adaptador desde la barra de Diagnstico.

La funcin S dispositivo inalmbrico a una red existente rpidamente. Si la tarjeta inalmbrica soporta Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), puede establecer una conexin inalmbrica entre la tarjeta inalmbrica y el Ruteador utilizando el botn de configuracin (PBC) o mtodo de PIN. After Installing the Adapter, the Adapters tray icon will appear in your system tray. It appears at the bottom of the screen, and shows the signal strength using color and the received signal strength indication (RSSI). If the icon is gray, there is no connection.. If the icon is red, there is poor signal strength and the RSSI is less than 5dB. If the icon is yellow, there is poor signal strength and the RSSI is between 5dB and 10dB.

Data Encryption - Here displays the encryption type the driver is using. You can configure it on the Security tab of Profile Management.

To add a new configuration profile, click New on the Profile Management tab. To modify a configuration profile, select the configuration profile from the Profile list and click Modify. Then you will see the Management dialog box.

1. Edit the General tab Profile Name - Please enter the Profile name which identifies the configuration profile. This name must be unique. Note that the profile names are not case-sensitive. Client Name - Please enter the Profile name which identifies the client machine. Network Names (SSIDs) - Please enter the IEEE 802.11 wireless network name. This field has a maximum limit of 32 characters.

ADD OR MODIFY A CONFIGURATION PROFILE

To configure the Encryption Keys under the Pre-Shared keys (Static WEP) Security mode:

Power Save Mode - Please select the power save mode in the drop-down list. Maximum - Selects maximum mode to let the access point buffer incoming messages for the Adapter. The Adapter will detect the access point if any messages are waiting periodically. Normal - Normal mode uses maximum when retrieving a large number of packets, then switches back to power save mode after retrieving the packets. Off - Turns power saving off, thus powering up the Wireless USB Adapter continuously for a short message response time. Network Type: There are basically two modes of networking: Infrastructure - All wireless clients will connect to an access point or wireless router. Ad-Hoc - Directly connecting to another computer, for peer-to-peer communication, using wireless network adapters on each computer, such as two or more wireless adapters. For infrastructure (access point) networks, click Preferred APs to specify four access points at most to the client adapter that attempts to be associated to the access points. The four access points have different priorities; the frontal has the higher priority.

SCAN AVAILABLE NETWORKS 1. Click Scan on the Profile Management screen, the Available Infrastructure and Ad Hoc Networks window will appear below. 2. Click Refresh to refresh the list at any time. 3. Highlight a network name and click Activate to connect to an available network. If no configuration profile exists for that network, the Profile Management window will open the General tab screen. Fill in the Profile name and click OK to create the configuration profile for that network.

IMPORT A PROFILE

The auto selection feature allows the adapter to automatically select a profile from the list of profiles and use it to connect to the network. To add a new profile into the Auto Selected Profiles list, please follow these steps. 1. On the Profile Management screen, click Order Profiles. 2. The Auto Profiles Selection management window will appear with a list of all created profiles in the Available Profiles.

3. Highlight the profiles to add to auto profile selection, and click Add. The profile will appear in the Auto Selected Profiles box. 4. Highlight a profile in the Auto Selected Profiles box. 5.
