ATM Single-mode Fiber Interface Board version 4 (IBASv4)

Function :- The IBASv4 provides one short-haul fiber interface for Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM). It supports traffic processing for GSN and also Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) over ATM

E1/T1 Interface Board version 4 (IBTEv4)

Function:- The IBTEv4 provides eight E1/T1 interfaces and supports Frame Relay. Using Frame Relay it can also function as a Device Processor (DP). If Frame Relay is not used it can function as either an Application Processor (AP) or a DP depending on the Traffic Mix Optimization (TMO) configuration. AP DP Handles the control functionality. Provides packet processing.

Function:- The FSBv4 is the only board within the system that contains a hard disk. It handles boot of other boards and shared disk input-output (IO) services for other boards. The disk storage within an FSBv4 provides a secure redundant storage if the FSBv4 is in pair with another FSB. The FSBv4 can have the following roles: Primary FSB. The primary FSB is the master central processing unit (CPU) that receives and executes shared disk IO operations. All data stored on the primary FSB is mirrored to the secondary FSB directly when receiving IO operations. Secondary FSB. This Plug-In Unit (PIU) is a hot standby to the primary FSB. The secondary FSB is always able to take over if the primary FSB fails.

Power Distribution Unit (PDU) 14 x 15A

The Power and Distribution Unit (PDU) is used for supplying power to the equipment in a MkVI and MkVI+ magazine. The PDU version described in this document has 14 x 15A outputs, with product number BMG 980 347/2. For redundancy reason, there are always two PDUs working in pair in an SGSN-MME. For the procedure on how to replace a PDU unit, see Replacing a PDU. An overview of the PDU is shown in Figure 1.

Description
The purpose of the Power Distribution Unit (PDU) is to distribute input voltage to several outputs and to limit the current on the outputs. This ensures that a short-circuit on one output does not cause a large voltage drop on the other outputs. The PDU is connected to ground by the 0 V DC (-48 V DC return) conductor. Each power output is supplied with a power connector, a power ON and OFF toggle switch, and a red LED indicating a tripped fuse.

1. Fail LED Red: Lit if the fuse is tripped. Normal State: Off (Unlit) 2. Output power switch (On and Off) 3. Output power connector (-48 V DC) 4. Input Power LED

Green: Lit if input power is present. Normal State: On (Lit) 5. MIA LED Yellow: Lit after power up. Normal State: On (Lit) 6. Not used 7. Input power connector (-48 V DC)

Power and Ethernet Board version 5 (PEBv5)

Functionality
The PEBv5 has the function of delivering power through the backplane to the other Plug-In Units (PIUs) in a magazine, as well as switching the internal Ethernet communication in a Serving GPRS Support Node and Mobility Management Entity (SGSN-MME). It also has routing functionality for communication towards external interfaces. The PEBv5 has the following functions: Power distribution (4 branches of 250 W each). Supervision circuitry for primary 48 V voltage levels. 22 port Gigabit Ethernet switch. Two 1 Gbps Ethernet interfaces for connection to external interfaces. One 10 Gbps Optical interface (SFP+) for connection to external interfaces. Two 10 Gbps Ethernet copper interfaces (10GBASE-CX4) for connections between magazines. 19 port 1 Gbps Ethernet interfaces (10/100/1000 Base-T) for connections between PIUs. Alarm handling for fans (fan unit powered directly from Power Distribution Unit (PDU). Temperature sensor indicating if the temperature is too high or too low. The sensor cut-off the local power supply if the temperature is too high. Alarm indicating if the supply voltage is too high or too low.
