Notice for additional vacancies for ARS/NET Examination - 2009

The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board had issued notification in Employment


News/Rozgar Samachar dated 25 – 31 October, 2008 for holding Competitive Examination on
26.4.2009 for filling up the vacancies of Scientists of ARS in the pay scale of Rs. 8000-13500 in the
ICAR Institutes, combined with National Eligibility Test (NET) for recruitment of Lecturers and
Assistant Professors by the State Agricultural Universities (SAUs).

2. Details regarding plan of the examination, centres of the examination and application form
etc. are available in the said notification.

3. Besides, it has also been decided to fill up the additional vacancies for ARS through
ARS/NET Examination – 2009 and therefore, the revised vacancy position discipline-wise is as
given below:

4. In addition to above vacancy position, it has been decided to fill up the vacancies for ARS
under Special Recruitment Drive for SCs/STs/OBCs and Physically Challenged Persons through the

5. It is also informed that the prescribed qualifications of the following disciplines of


ARS/NET have been revised:
1. Aquaculture
2. Fish & Fishery Science
3. Aquaculture Engineering
4. Fish Processing Technology
And the disciplines of Aquaculture and Fish & Fishery Science have now been grouped
under major / broad discipline of Fisheries Science.

6. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: For admission to ARS/NET: A candidates


must have Master’s degree or equivalent in the concerned subject / discipline with
specialization.
The statement showing the revised eligibility qualifications for ARS/NET Examination – 2009
after incorporating the amendments is given in the Annexure.

7. Closing date for receipt of applications in A.S.R.B.


The closing date for receipt of applications has been extended up to 31st December, 2008.
However, in respect of applications received only by post (by post/speed post) from the
candidates residing abroad or in certain remote areas specified in the notification, the closing date
for receipt of application will be 15th January, 2009.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The candidates who want to apply for ARS vacancies, may send
their application in the prescribed format published in the notification. However, the
candidates who have already applied earlier for ARS/NET need not apply afresh.

The other terms and conditions for the aforesaid ARS/NET Examination-2009 will
remain same as notified earlier. The candidates are advised to consult the notification before
filling up the applications.
