Strengthening linkages with its counterpart associations worldwide. ACMA is well represented on a number of panels, committees and councils of the Government of India as well as the relevant committees of all leading Chambers of Commerce in the country.

In the year 1959 as The All India Automobile & Ancillary Industries Association (AIA & AIA)

Vision 2020
The Vision 2020 for the auto component industry delineates that the industry could be well over three to four times of its current size of USD 26 billion and scale up to USD 110 billion by 2020.
This will be driven by strong growth of vehicle production and consumption in India. ACMA has been instrumental in driving initiatives that help component manufacturers enhance their competitiveness and address their issues. To help the industry scale the targets of the Vision 2020, the ACMA bouquet of services is being further finetuned to immediately address the following: Broadening the scope of cluster-based initiatives to include wider array of operational issues faced by component manufacturers. Just like the quality cluster, ACMA is contemplating to set-up clusters for improving throughput, productivity, marketing (especially in export markets), and logistics operations. Two new cluster programs on Engineering Cluster and New Product development are on the anvil. Promoting the Indian auto component industry domestically as well as internationally to make it more attractive to investors. Raising capital would be the key for scaling operations. Globally, private capital is looking for attractive investment destinations and many industries are vying for the same. Creating a link with education institutes to help align the curricula with industry requirements. Such an effort would help both research and development needs and develop graduates that are more in-line with industry's skill requirements.

Special Services for SMEs

The Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sector has emerged as a highly vibrant and dynamic sector of the Indian auto component industry. Over two-thirds of ACMA membership falls in the Small and Medium category. SMEs play a crucial role in providing significant employment opportunities at a comparatively low capital cost than larger industries and are complementary to larger members as ancillary units. The fast changing global economic scenario, while on one hand has thrown open not only many opportunities for the SMEs, it has also on other hand, put an obligation to upgrade the competencies and skills of the sector to meet the growing demand with newer products in shorter time. To help SMEs evolve in the fast changing global scenario and to meet the overall automotive industry's target as envisaged in the Vision 2020, the ACMA SME Committee is working in a focussed manner to address the issues of the sector. Some of the specific programs for the benefit of SMEs include: Awareness on Accessing Capital from various agencies & Training on how to avail the prevailing schemes Training program for SMEs on various aspects such as Manufacturing, Technology, etc. Experience sharing programs Working closely with Tier 1 companies for harnessing outsourcing opportunities
