    TheHolySpiritisthethirddivinePersonoftheBlessedTrinity,thepersonalloveofFather andSonforeachother.AlsocalledtheParaclete(Advocate)andSpiritofTruth,theHoly SpiritisatworkwiththeFatherandtheSonfromthebeginningtothecompletionofthe divineplanforoursalvation(CCCGlossary,cf.152,243) TobelieveintheHolySpiritistoprofessthattheHolySpiritisoneofthepersonsofthe HolyTrinity,consubstantial[ofthesamesubstance]withtheFatherandtheSon(CCC685) withtheFatherandtheSonheisworshippedandglorified(NiceneCreed) TheHolySpiritbuilds,animates,andsanctifiestheChurch(CCC747).OnewaytheHoly Spiritdoesthisisbybestowinguponussevengiftsandmultiplefruits.

    GiftsoftheHolySpirit
    ThemorallifeofChristiansissustainedbythegiftsoftheHolySpirit.Theseare permanentdispositionswhichmakemandocileinfollowingthepromptingsoftheHoly Spirit(CCC1830) TheSpiritoftheLordshallrestuponHim:thespiritofwisdomandunderstanding,the spiritofcounselandfortitude,thespiritofknowledgeandgodliness[piety].Andheshall befilledwiththespiritofthefearoftheLord(Is.11:23) Thefirstfourgifts(wisdom,knowledge,counsel,andunderstandingtheHolySpirit) shapethemindasfarasthepersonsthoughtsandreasoning.Theotherthree (strength,reverence,andfearoftheLord)arethosegiftswheretheHolySpirit shapesyourwill,sothatthesoulchoosestofollowthewillofGod(cf.SummaTheo.) Thesegiftscompleteandperfectthevirtuesofthosewhoreceivethem(CCC1831)

    ThetraditionoftheChurchliststwelveofthem:charity,joy,peace,patience,kindness, goodness,generosity,gentleness,faithfulness,modesty,selfcontrol,chastity(CCC1832, cf.Gal.5:2223) ThefruitsoftheSpiritareperfectionsthattheHolySpiritformsinusasthefirst fruitsofeternalglory(CCC1832) ThefruitsofGodsSpiritreallyspeakforthemselves.Whenwemanifestthemin ourlives,especiallyinthewayswerelatetooneanother,theybecomethe manifestationofGodspresenceintheworld(www.pjpiisoe.org,Pamphlet262)
