August 30th, 2010 in TSHOOT Go to comments The TSHOOT 642-832 exam has been used to replace the old ISCW & ONT exams so this article is devoted for candidates who took this exam sharing their experience. Please tell with us what are your materials, the way you learned, your feeling and experience after taking the TSHOOT exam Your posts are warmly welcome! Some information I have gathered so far: The exam is very different with other Cisco exams. You have 3 hours for this exam. Exams Structure: + About 3 Multichoice questions + 2 Drag and Drop Questions + 13 lab-sim Questions with the same network topology (13 troubleshooting tickets or you can call it one big question). Each lab-sim is called a ticket and you can solve them in any order you like. Topics of the lab-sims: 1- IPv6 2- OSPF 3- OSPFv3 4- Frame Relay 5- GRE 6- EtherChannel 7- RIPng 8- EIGRP 9- Redistribution 10- NTP 11- NAT 12- BGP 13- HSRP 14- STP 15- DHCP The problems are rather simple. For example wrong IP assignment, disable or enable a command, authentication In each tickets you will have to answers three types of questions: + Which device causes problem + Which technology is used + How to fix it When you press Done to finish each case, you cant go back. A demo of the TSHOOT Exam can be found at: http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le2/le37/le10/tshoot_demo.html Note: We have gathered many questions about TSHOOT exam and posted them at TSHOOT FAQs & Tips, surely you will find useful information about the TSHOOT exam there! In short, unlike other Cisco exams, we can go backward in this exam. That means we can choose a Troubleshooting Ticket, browse all the configurations and hit Abort to ignore that Ticket. We can come back to that Ticket any time. Below are the topologies of the real TSHOOT exam, you are allowed to study these topologies before taking the exam. It surely saves you some invaluable time when sitting in the exam room (Thanks rrg for sharing this).

If you have any new information about this exam, please share with us! Below is the strategy that has been used by many candidates to pass TSHOOT. Thanks to ENA for posting this. I just come from MY exam and i passed T-shoot 1000/1000 i want share some experience there i had Only one BUG IN exam For question access map U need to choice Aswn1 to get correct Answer because if u make Dwsn1 U will see not there Option to get correct answer.. Well all those TT are the same all The TTs that I got are mentioned below: 1. ASW1 Allowed Vlan 2. ASW1 Port Security 3. ASW1 Access Vlan 4. DSW1 Access Map 5. DSW1 HSRP 6. R4 IP DHCP first delete ip dhcp excluded-address 10.2.1.1 10.2.1.253 and then enter ip dhcp excluded-address 10.2.1.1 10.2.1.2 9. R2 IPv6 10. R1 NAT ACL 11. R1 L3 Security ACL 12. R1 BGP Wrong BGP Neighbor Address 13. R1 OSPF Authentication I didnt get there any IP Helper there also i checked all TT and IP helper was not configured there.. Well now I want to Describe how to find more easy the TT first with 3 TT which be ON R1.. IN 3 TT U can Ping 10.1.1.1 which tickets are Nat , BGP , Access list , remember IN 3 TT U can ping 10.1.1.1 which is R1 totally are 4 TT on R1 which IN one Ticket u cannot ping 10.1.1.1 but u can ping 10.1.1.2 which Ticket is Ospf authentication. Dont lose ur time use abort abort abort and abort First I found those 3 TT where I can ping 10.1.1.1 and one ticket when u cannot ping 10.1.1.1 but u can ping 10.1.1.2 which is ospf authenteticaton 4 TT Gone of R4 now Find 2 TT HSRP and IPV6 which are so clearly as question.. Now totally 6 TT GOneeeee Next steeep FIND 4 TT which Client 1 Get IP address 169.x.x which are Access vlan 10 , port security issused on f0/1/0 , Trunking Interface Those 3 TT u Must must must Check ON ASW1 Remember One TT is ON R4 Layer 3 Topology which Client get IP 169.x.x.x which Is DHCP ON R4 router R4 IP DHCP first delete ip dhcp excluded-address 10.2.1.1 10.2.1.253 and then enter ip dhcp excluded-address 10.2.1.1 10.2.1.2 Now 10 TT Goneeeeeeeeeee now Find TT which Client get IP address 10.x.x.x but cannot ping the Gateway Using abort that Is Access Map but in this TT is one BUG and U need to choice ASW1 to get Correct answer because doesnt see any option Vlan acl / Port ACL * IF u select AWS1 U will see this One Vlan Acl POrt now 11 TT GONeeee now 2 TT Of R4 which Client get IP address 10..x.x.x Route Redistribute , and Passive Interfaceee ,, I played with those 2 TT for more 20 MIN just to play and to spend the time because i did exaaamm so fast 30 MIN and i stayed for 1 Hour well now are ONLY 2 TT When select One TT of them IN one U will see wrong redistribute I mean name of spelling of Route map if U use abort and JUMP another TT U will see then Correctly Route map spelling name and u will see another one new with Passive Interface Under EIGRP Well the First I end this one with wrong spelling route map.. and for this one the last with passive interface i did in the end and u must select R4 EIGRP no passive interface under eigrp process in Interface f0/1 and f0/0 now 13 TT GOneeeee 100% Well also i want tell YOU something is better to Useeee 46Q there are all all all all all the answers the same when U select just there in that DUMP are 2 questions WRONG Interface Trunking allow vlan 10 , correct answer is 10.200 now as that dump 10.20.200 keep this In Mind.. and another one Port security In this dump 46Q are Wrong for this one port security need to choice with shutdown and no shutdown there on dump write somthing different right I hope this have been Information for all OF you Here is the strategy which I Useddddddd Problem Device Problem Description A > ASW1 > Access VLAN 10 ( Layer 2 )host 1- 169.x.x.x P > ASW1 > Port-Channel not allowing VLAN 10 ( layer 2 )host 1- 169.x.x.x S > ASW1 > Port Security needs to be disabled ( layer 2 )host 1- 169.x.x.x H > DSW1 > HSRP Track 10 ( layer 3 ) host 10.x.x.x V > DSW1 > VLAN Filter ( layer 2 ) host 1 -10.x.x.x E > R4 > DHCP wrong exclude address host 1- 169.x.x.x P > R4 -> Passive Interface Under eigrp 10 host 1 10.x.x.x R > R4 > Route Redistribution ( layer 3 )host 1- 10.x.x.x 6 > R2 > IPv6 OSPF ( Ipv6 topology ) ipv6 ip add B > R1 > BGP wrong Neighbor IP ( layer 3 )host 1 10.x.x.x N > R1 > NAT ACL miss configured ( layer 3 ) host 1- 10.x.x.x A > R1 > ACL blocking traffic on int ( layer 3 )host 1- 10.x.x.x O > R1 > OSPF Authentication issue ( layer 3 ) host 1 10.x.x.x Try the following strategy.. if you have got time This i have found from one of the post. your strategy is good, but how will you find out which ticket is having that particular issues this may help you

If you can ping 10.1.1.1 Then faulty device is definitely R1. Check this website. This is 100% correct. From client ping 10.1.1.1. If successful then R1 is the faulty device. It is simple concept. Any device before that does not have faulty configuration. Because you can reach R1 it means DSW1, R4, R3, R2 is allowing you to reach R1. If any of them had wrong configuration then you would not be able to ping 10.1.1.1. From client I pinged 10.1.1.1 more frequently then others. Once you can ping 10.1.1.1 then you definitely know the fault is with R1. No doubt about about that. 1. Can be faulty BGP neighbour. Wrong ip address of neighbour. Use show run. You know where to look. Under router bgp 65001.> sh ip bgp sum 2. Check NAT access list. Look for permit statement. If permit 10.2.0.0 0.0.255.255 is not present then it is NAT Access list. 3. Check edge_security access list. If the permit statement is missing for permit 209.65.200.224 0.0.0.3 then it is IPV4 layer 3 security. So, you can see that if you can ping 10.1.1.1 but can not ping 209.65.200.241 then 3 TT for R1. Now if you can ping to 10.1.1.2 but can not ping 10.1.1.1 then it is definitely R1. ip ospf authentication message-digest on serial0/0/0/0.12 interface. Check configuration on R1. You will see that ip ospf authentication message-digest is missing. So it R1, OSPF, ip ospf authentication message digest. In total R1 has 4 TT. 3 TT You can ping R1 but can not ping 209.65.200.241 1 TT You can ping 10.1.1.2 but can not ping 10.1.1.1. As soon as I opened a TT > I used ipconfig to see the ip address. If it is 169.XXX then 3 TT for ASW1. If it has valid ip address such as 10.2.1.3 then i immediately pined 10.1.1.1 to see if the fault is with R1. 3 TT gone. Total 6 TT gone in the blink of an eye. ASW1 3 TT if ip address is 169.xxxx (1.switch port security: Symptoms for this ticket:1- Client 1 is getting 169.x.x.x ip address 2- Client 1 is unable to ping Client 2 as well as DSW1. 3- sh interfaces fa1/0/1 will show following message in the first line enFastEthernet1/0/1 is down, line protocol is down (err-disabled) 4- sh running-config, you will see switchport port-security mac-address 0000.0000.0001 configured under fa1/0/1. if u did not have the port in err-disable mode but in the config there was a port security mac 0.0.0.0.. command assigned so if u do show int fa 1/0/1 it will show it as UP so do not get confused) (2.vlan1> vlan10) (3.trunk allowed: int range portchannel13,portchannel23 switchport trunk allowed vlan none switchport trunl allowed vlan 10,200) R1 3TT if you can ping R1 10.1.1.1 R1 1TT if you can ping 10.1.1.2 but can not ping 10.1.1.1 If HSRP mentioned then you know it is DSW1 If ipv6 or ospfV3 mentioned then you know it is R2. 9 TT very simple. Now if you can not ping 10.1.1.1 or 10.1.1.2 then you come back near client. Like DSW1, R4. DSW1 1 more TT Vlan ACL Look for VLAN Access Map R4 3 TT: EIGRP Passive interface , DHCP on R4 which get IP add 169.x.x , OSPF-to-EIGRP (OSPF->EIGRP). also now we have 2 TT new to idendify them if client now get ip add 169.x.x also check ON R4 for DHCP this new One again ON R4 for passive Interface now totally we have 3 TT ON R4 4 TT on R1 Dws1 2 TT R2 1 TT Asw1 3 TT * Note: The bug has been fixed recently so you can select DSW1 device, next page you have to scroll down and you will find the VLAN Access List/PACL option. Best wishes to those who are going to take this exam! Comments Comment pages Previous 1 75 76 77 6 1. tomiccell February 9th, 2013 Just aced TSHOOT exam. Scored 1000 3MCQ, all from this site. I used BBs strategy and it was simple to understand and identify TT in real exam. Had all tickets except EIGRP AS and IP Helper address. Only difference I noticed was in ACL TT. The ACL has been renamed to an extended security_accesslist. Otherwise its still the same concept. My advice: Firstly, know your stuff very well. Take your time as TT could be a bit confusing in exam. Write down ur strategy before you begin. It helped a lot. Use the abort button, dont be scared :) And yea, please donate to the upkeep of these sites. Great work and contibrutions here. Im sure the exam would have been painfully more difficuly without hints from here. Finally CCNP. Off 2 CCDA site after 3months study Goodluck guyz. 2. saa February 9th, 2013 Yes you are right the 196.x.x.x should be 169.x.x.x Thanks for your correction 3. saa February 9th, 2013 New METHOD . If you see NOt means you can not ping . If you see anything inside ( ) is the device where the fault is located. Method 1

From client 1, 10.1.1.1. (R1). Nat , Bgp, access-list This means if you can ping 10.1.1.1 from client 1 , then then the fault is located on device (R1) and the topology will Nat ,Bgp, Access-list . Method 2 10.1.1.2 Not 10.1.1.1 (R1) Ospf authentication message digest Methods 3 10.x.x.x. Not defult gateway (Asw1). Access-map Method 4 169.x.x.x. (Asw1) switchport access vlan 10 , port-security Method 5 169.X.X.X (ASW1). switch to switch conectvity Method 6 169.x.x.x. (R4) DHCP exclude 10.2.1.1 10.2.1.253 Method 7 10.x.x.x (R4) EIGRP AS, Route-redistribute, passive interface under EIGRP The rest open your eyes wide and you will see it . I wish you all the best. 4. @Anonymous February 9th, 2013 @Anonymous. Absolutely agree with everything you said.. How in the world are we at the last test in the CCNP series and still talking about the definition of private subnets and 169 addressing. The value that I have placed on obtaining the CCNP has just been completely diminished knowing that others will have the same cert will so little knowledge. Guess the CCIE Lab is the only true separation of skill :) Im not really trying to bash anyone here but when you present yourself as a CCNP to an employer and he then determines that you have no clue what you are really doing it degrades the rest of us who actually took the time to know the technology. Remember the term paper MCSE anyone. Please do us all a favor and do not just memorize the content. The easiest road is definitely not always the best. 5. @Anonymous February 10th, 2013 @Anonymous : Do you think you are the best ? dont let over confidence rule you . no one can reach (CCNP) without spending much time and money. practices makes man perfect . pure practicals is obtain from the field not in the classroom. you can be who you think you are but when you go to the practical field you are no body. PEOPLE WITH SUCH MIND NEVER REACH ANY WHERE. 6. PPPP February 10th, 2013 @Anonymous hello Mr Man why all this , if you think you know so much why dont you teach you brother than to condemn. remember we are each brothers keeper. you scratch my back for me, I scratch your back for you. then we going ( peace and love ). 7. you February 10th, 2013 NO fight just shear your experience . small boys are young . most of you doesnt know what they are saying . 8. cashman February 10th, 2013 @Anonymous. how much money did you spend to reach CCNP and now you are making noise. contact me and come for your money and depart from being a CCNP holder . since you clam the value has just been completely diminished knowing that others will have the same cert with so little knowledge like you. cashman2013@hotmail.com 9. achala February 10th, 2013 Passed the Exam today. got 876/1000 today followed this strategy. February 10th, 2013 @Cashman.. I didnt spend any money to obtain my CCNP unless you count the endless hours of studying and running through lab scenarios which costs me time with family and friend. For the rest of you, I have been reading through all of the forums here and it is filled with stupid posts from people who do not have the basic concepts and it is apparent that this is their primary study resource or memorization resource and for some reason they have the audacity to propose such questions. I am by no means saying I am a guru or know it all. I have a long way to go myself. I do however know that thanks to the work I put into my studies I could absolutely pass the exam without coming to this site. It is a disgrace to the Cisco community, the CCNP cert and me to deliberately come here to study the test questions as your only resource and consider you and me as equals. What does the 169 addressing mean? Shouldnt my BGP neighbor command be the same AS and mine? The list of stupid questions goes on and on. It is blatantly obvious that there are a fraction of people here that do not known basic concepts. For those of you who have made and equal investment as I have, keeps up the good work, I wish you the best in your career and this post is not for you. For the rest, you know who you are get off this site, get a book on EBay for $20, download GNS3, watch all of the nuggets and get to work. When you are ready to take the test just ask yourself, could I pass the exam without dumps or this site? Then you know you are ready. 12. kobe February 11th, 2013 @Anonymous.. i totally agree with you and know where you are coming from. However, you can advise & express your thoughts & feelings in a professional way :) 13. Karthik February 11th, 2013 Passed 1000/1000. 3 MCQs and 1 DnD. 13 Trouble Tickets. Did not have EIGRP incorrect AS ticket. Networktut is more than sufficient if you are looking to just pass the exam. But nothing can beat true knowledge when it comes to the real world, so make sure you make yourself worthy of the certification. Thanks networktut community! 14. 127.0.0.1 February 11th, 2013 Passed today, this is by far the easiest Cisco exam I have ever done. I dont understand why Cisco only use the same 13 TTs for the exam. In every other Cisco exam, they have 100s of questions to choose from, so why not have 100s of TTs, that would make it a lot more difficult. 15. COOL February 11th, 2013 Hi ALL, Has anyone got the link to download vce3.0.1 full version. If so could you plz share the link. Thanks in advance. 16. Anonymous February 11th, 2013 certification is not a proof that you have the skills from having done the job.. everyone who is desiring this level of certification should really have the credibility that entitles him to become a real ccnp holder. how pathetic for those who have mentality of: certify now, study later! 17. Anonymous February 11th, 2013 thanks to all your help 18. lilliput February 12th, 2013 Still 100% valid dumps. Scored 1000/1000. Thanks Networktut 19. tiko February 12th, 2013 passed test. Thanks networktut. All tickets here are valid. This is only what I used. Please know the tickets and the symptoms associated with each ticket and then use the appropriate commands on the concerned devices. ipconfig, ping, show run, show ip bgp summary, show vlan, show int f1/0/1, sh int trunk, sh etherchannel summary. Spend time identifying all the tickets and then in the last 30 mins or when you have identified all tickets start answering. I used the following as a summary and used the abort strategy to help narrow/identify all tickets before answering: definition: p1 will ping 10.1.1.1, cp1 cannot ping 10.1.1.1, p2 ping 10.1.1.2, cp is cannot ping. p is will ping R1 if p1, then sh ip bgb summary Result: Nothing (blank) -> BGB Result: Active -> IP-Acess-list Reult: NAT -> neighbourship formed if cp1, p2 -> OSPF R2 stated: -> OSPFV3/ipv6

27. 127.0.0.1 February 13th, 2013 @Sandeep you can not change anything on the routers or switches you just select what is the problem device, the problem area and the command that will fix the problem 28. discovery26 February 13th, 2013 Hi All Ive passed today with 876/1000 Everything from networktut. Thank you very much Im CCNP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 29. Bruce Wayne February 14th, 2013 Hi All, I have created a packet tracer environment for TSHOOT. Using the working packet tracer file above, I modified the environment to fit the TTs. Some of the commands are not accepted by the packet tracer. Therefore I shut down the port that is causing the issue and modified the description to include the problem statement (Example is ticket 2) I also included D&D and MCQ with all answers inside the answers text file. Do take a look at it if you wish to have some practical practice. Its not as perfect as GNS3 but its a less laggy version. http://www.4shared.com/zip/pOBvjiCq/TSHOOT_Packet_Tracer.html 30. cisco ccnp February 14th, 2013 hi again . there is a trouble ticket on the demo on this link where client 1 and 2 can ping each other but cannot ping the default gateway on dsw1 -I failed to solved it -any help????? http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le2/le37/le10/tshoot_demo.html 31. Duck February 14th, 2013 During the exam, is the layout the same as in the demo mode?, i mean are there 13 squares representing the TTs or are there 4 squares for one TT then another 4 for another and so on. 32. Here is Saras strategy. February 15th, 2013 cisco ccnp DSW1 Switch- Switch Connectivity Switchport trunk allowed vlan 10, 98 command 33. abort-abort February 15th, 2013 @ cisco ccnp, dont worry about solving it. you wont. it is just for you to practice with abort key and click next, next to get next answer, view your options and so fort. it is for you to be familiar with the gui, nothing more. dont waste your time trying to solve. @ Duck in real test you will be given 13 tickets or whatever the amount is instead of 4 tickets. http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/le2/le37/le10/tshoot_demo.html 34. cisco ccnp February 15th, 2013 @Here is Saras strategy You are right i went back to the demo and chose answers: dsw1-switch to switch connectivity- allowed vlan10,98 and got 3/3 correct response but i must say nothing from the lab indicate taht there is another switch for a switch to switch connectivity answer. so it is just a demo but thanks. @abort-abort

Thank you all form your help and thanks Networktut .. sorry for bieng late 50. Sandeep Yadav February 16th, 2013 Hi All, Cleared tshoot today all the TTS and qos from networktut Thanks ton to networktut 51. Sandy February 16th, 2013 Hi Everybody, IS CCNP routing and switching (composite) + tshoot == CCNP certified ?????? Please confirm 52. COOL February 16th, 2013 Hi All, I have a doubt. Does passive-interface command affect on the sub interfaces in the frame relay with eigrp enabled. e.g: if i have interface s0/0 and has subinterfaces s0/0.1 s0/0.2 i enable under eigrp AS passive-interface default no passive interface s0/0 does eigrp allow neighbours to be formed on subinterfaces? 53. networktut February 16th, 2013 @COOL: With your configuration, subinterfaces s0/0.1 & s0/0.2 cant form neighbor relationship. You must no passive interface on subinterfaces too. 54. ammar February 16th, 2013 Hi everyone are the ASW1 and ASW2 accessible in the real exam? because on Cisco website (ESim Tester) they are not !! Thanks in advance 55. Anonymous February 16th, 2013 Does everytime you click on a ticket, the topologies have different behaviors and thats when you apply the recommended strategies? 56. COOL February 17th, 2013 @networktut Thanks networktut for the info 57. Ninja February 17th, 2013 @Sandy Answer to your Question :- Yes, you will be CCNP. next week 28th i am going to take Tshoot. can any one tell me all Qs & TT form the Dumps or it has been changed. do we need to change any configuration on topology or simply select answer from the objective list(A,B,C,D) thanks in advance!!!! 61. Sandeep Yadav February 18th, 2013 @ Babu, Till 16th Feb dumps was same You will not have any configuration change access. You just need to identify the problem and select the ans from the objective . 62. cisco ccnp February 18th, 2013 @Anonymous that question you asked is a very important one -i failed today just because i could not properly identify what topology goes with what ticket . basically all questions says client 1 cannot ping the web server 209.65.200.241 -from the topology given on ipv4 layer 3 ,you will assume that you have to use that topology ,but then again there is another topology that is layer 2 with also client 1 -and you know that all the tickets are not to be used with only ipv4 layer 3 . At the end you seem not to know when to bring up layer 2 topology and for what ticket . only the hsrp question and ipv6 ospf question are clear -and find it easy to click on the correct topology to answer the question. is there anybody to give us a hand here ??????? 63. Bruce Wayna February 18th, 2013 @cisco ccnp the 3 topologies is applicable to all tickets. you use them when only when u see fit. there is no difference in topology. if you use brain dump, you WILL fail. 64. COOL February 18th, 2013 @cisco-ccnp You need to check the strategies that have been discussed here so far without which you would not be able to proceed. When to bring layer 2 topology ? I can give an instance when the client does not have the ip address assigned. That would probably indicate that there could be a problem in layer 2. For Layer 3 topology? When you are able to ping to certain extent and then isolate one of the router for not pinging. These are the hints that you need to follow. For further indepth knowledge i suppose u need to adopt one of the strategies that have been discussed in the forum. 65. cisco ccnp February 18th, 2013 @Bruce Wayna you seem to understand this better than me why not just explain it ???? @cool i get your point but like i said -all tickets are saying webserver 209.65.200.241 cannot be pinged from client 1- i say all of them (except hrsp ticket and ipv6 ticket where you get a hint ) talking about strategy ,i have read a few .but i am still trying to find out that hint that point to specific topology from a said ticket from the word go -maybe i am really missing something -i will dig until i find the answer , but any help will not kill thanks a lot for responding . 66. Wasim February 18th, 2013 Hi All, I have a question when we are sitting in real exam . Check the ticket run config command but not sure about the answer and click the Abort and go on the next ticket select the answer and come back on the first ticket which we click before Abort and run config command again. So my question is that when we run the config first on that router and we come back again after Abort and run config afain so the first and second time configuration are same or change ? In other word we run the config command so it is same or change on same router for same ticket? 67. cisco ccnp February 18th, 2013

@wasim As soon as you click abort ,there is pop up message warning that you will lose all the config.in that ticket you actually have to click ok to confirm the lost . So everything goes . 68. Tryinghard February 18th, 2013 I believe the honest strategy here is to use different kinds of troubleshooting techniques, like divide and conquer, 1-7, 7 -1 etc.. Its really hard to imagine on how youll interpret the questions once you sit for the exam coz it isreally tricky.. Read the problem first, then start your troubleshooting, identify which node has a problem.. If unsure use abort Proceed with the next ticket.. 69. cisco ccnp February 19th, 2013 @wasim As soon as you click abort ,there is pop up message warning that you will lose all the config.in that ticket you actually have to click ok to confirm the lost . So everything goes . .. 70. babu February 19th, 2013 to sandeep thanks for the reply. Thanks a lot lot for all!!!!!! 71. cisco ccnp February 19th, 2013 I am forced to come back here an warn anybody taking the exam that it is not that easy as some people say here believe me it is tricky the people at cisco are not stupid to give that much time for a said easy exam -you will notice here that most of the people pass with a score of 8.. - of course there are those with 1000 ,but compare also to the number of people who announce their exam here and never come back to said what happen after the good tips from networktut ,you can easily understand that many people seem to be failing and ,unlike me they dont talk.i understand -they must feel frustrated even ashamed to fail an easy exam but pals rest assured it is not that easy. I know my worth in the IT field and i must say it ,i am not ashamed of failing -i will past i know but first i would like to warn others to watch out. here is once again my experience of the exam : i got 720 fail score . . .my advice to all ,try understand what topology goes with the ticket you are chosen . everybody here says, ping from client 1 or 2 to 10.1.1.1 or 10.1.1.2 or R1, R2,R3,R4 DSW1,DSW2 to find a clue as to where the fault might be. that is very good. BUT the confusion comes from the fact that all the topologies except the ipv6 topology have the same named device cited above and all the tickets from 1 to 13 say webserver 209.65.200.241 cannot be pinged from client 1 Now you see if you pick to the right topology, i will be easy to solve the ticket if you know routing and switching well . THE TRICK IS HOW TO PICK FROM THE IPV4 LAYER 3 OR THE IPV4 LAYER 2 TOPOLOGY To use for the ticket you are working on . from there the rest is easy .but how do you pick that ??? anyone who solve this equation will finish and pass the exam really fast . I am working on a few ideas but i would like to hear from you also. so now tell me 72. Bruce Wayna February 19th, 2013 @cisco ccnp the question is same for 12 tickets. and you only have 4 devices to check the problem. so just go to each device and ping the server. then u see how far away from the client PC and make your deduction on where the equipment is failing. if you cant even do this, i suggest you re-take CCNA. 73. Omar February 19th, 2013 @cisco ccnp. I dont andurstood what the hard to chose if its layer 2 or layer 3?!?! We cant ping from the client or from any device we want?? So what is the difference between if I chose layer 2 or layer 3 topology ?!?! Which device I cant ping so from that the problem appear isnt true??? Plzzzz explain more Ill have after tommo. February 19th, 2013 @cisco-ccnp I agree that the exam might be tricky as i have not taken this yet and would be taking it in the near future. But i would say that if you can practice the same topology all by your self then that would really help. You can go through this link (if you have not visited): http://myogyisg.blogspot.in/2011/10/ccnp-tshoot-ticket-1.html download all the ticket scenario and do it all by yourself once and rectify your mistake and then jot down few points like how you proceeded with the ticket, that would help in my opinion. Let me know if you think otherwise. Good to discuss this and sort out which would help all including me :) 77. Omar February 19th, 2013 Planning to give the exam by 21th feb, please send me Khattaks strategy PDF at: omar_7abosh@yahoo.com 78. cisco ccnp February 19th, 2013 @Bruce Wayna you said: the question is same for 12 tickets. (13) yes! and this is my problem . Now assume that you click on ticket 1 that you need to find where the fault is, for client 1 not being able to ping the WEBSERVER 209.65.200.241 ,obviously you will chose the topology ipv4 layer 3 and start your troubleshooting from client 1 ping the different devices to find where the fault is . Now tell me what will be the motivation for you to choose instead the ipv4 layer 2 topology ,as it does not have the name webserver on that topology , although it has the ip 209.65.200.241 to follow the instruction of the ticket ??? remember the ticket all the ticket says webserver but i can see a webserver on layer 2 topology ?? so tell me what will be your motivation ? you see that if you are to rely on on the 11 tickets instructions which are all the same, you will be using only the ipv4 layer 3 topology (i say 11 ticket because the hsrp and ipv6 ticket have those key word and give you a clue as to what topology to use:simple) but we know from this site that we have some tickets to be solve on DSW1,ASW1 which is ipv4layer 2 topology ,and anyway that topology had to be used . because cisco did not post it there for you to use it if you like or not -but it must be used at some point so the question is when??? what is the hint ? The rest of what you said is not important about ccna . . . i trust myself ,maybe you are more intelligent -i just want to learn after all . thank for responding. 79. cisco ccnp February 19th, 2013 @omar i said it all in the post above to bruce : the same answer applys to you @cool it is late in the night now . i will check out your link and see what come up 80. Bruce Wayna February 20th, 2013 @Omar Yes. i a, taking it again today to re-certify. @cisco ccnp what do you need motivation to choose what topology? if there is a problem, just keep pinging 209.65.200.241 and see where the ping drops, check the equipment that has ping drops, check the equipment infront and behind it and then voila, you have the answer. if you cant understand the simple concept of narrowing down where is the equipment at fault, then how do you perform as a network engineer in the real world? 81. Bruce Wayne February 20th, 2013 I have just completed the exam. 986/1000 cos I didnt focus on MCQ. My tip for everyone 1. write down all 14 TT plus the solution on the paper provided. 2. dont depend on any strategy. just ping from R1, R4, DSW1, ASW1 and client 1 at every start of the ticket. follow this order everytime. 3. check each TT but dont submit your answer. label it on your paper and abort the TT. you have 13 TT but 14 scenarios, so you miss one. my missing TT was the eigrp as

4. once you write down all the TT to the problems on the paper, submit but double check your answer 5. DO NOT REMEMBER WORD FOR WORD EVERYTHING WRITTEN ON THIS SITE. why? because my nat_pool was nat_traffic. my route redist was OSPF_to_EIGRP not the one on the site. this site gives you a wonderful assistance to learn the concept, not the answer. if you look for the answer, you will fail. if you look for the concept, you will pass. when I left the exam, there was still 2 hours 8 minute left. this is consistent with my timing 3 years ago. 82. cisco ccnp February 20th, 2013 @bruce wayne congratulation on your pass !!!!!!! You must be very intelligent . But you are a bad teacher I am going to ask my question otherwise and it is the same question khatty and anonymous asked before me as they have the same concern as me - here is my question ? Do you think that you could have used the layer 2 topology to solve the eigrp question ? If no , why ? If yes how ? Do you think you could have used the layer 3 topology to solve the port channel question ?? If no, why ? If yes how ? I just want understand this very simply Dont be angry with me remember you are helping the hole world ??? @Cool i downloaded you topology ,got the folders with the 10 tickets -they are not opening . . . I am still working on it I hope we clear the air . 83. Leo February 20th, 2013 @Bruce wayne I did my exam on 15th but failed, got 711. There were 2 Labs which really gave me a Headache. 1. There is a certain Lab where both client 1 and 2 had 169.x.x.x, they can ping one another but they cant ping gateway(10.2.1.254 &10.2.1.1). Both clients and gateway were in vlan 10. When you enter show int trunk on ASWI, portchannel 13 and 23 were allowing vlan10 but at the same time port fa1/0/19 and fa1/0/20(which form portchannel13) were not shown on int trunk command.Show run on ASW1 shows that both fa1/0/19 and fa1/0/20 were trunk and were allowing vlan 10 over the trunK. On router 4, pool was configured properly i.e there was no ip dhcp excluded 10.2.1.1 10.2.1.253.My question is why were this client not getting ip address from the pool(R4) 84. Anonymous February 20th, 2013 @Leo Perhaps ip helper-address was missing on DSW1s VLAN10 interface. 85. wasim February 20th, 2013 Hello All, Today I pass my TSHOOT exam (642-832), All the ticket and MCQs are valid. If you follow Khattaks strategy then easy to pass the exam otherwise very hard. Note: Friend when you are working on ticket number so must be sure select the correct device otherwise remaining question of the ticket make you confused and you cant get the correct answer. It happened with me today in exam and I select wrong device then very hard to found the fault condition. In the end Thank you all specially http://www.networktut.com & who make Khattaks strategy 86. no you could not use the layer 3 topology to answer the port channel question Why? The layer 2 topology has all the layer 3 devices (routers) and also the switches (layer 2 devices) so since the EIGRP question is a layer 3 question, the layer 2 topology will give you access to all the layer 3 devices. However for the port channel question, you need access to the layer 2 devices (switches) but the layer 3 topology does not include the switches therefore you cannot use the layer 3 topology to solve the port channel question 88. Leo February 20th, 2013 @anonymous Will you please explain to me the ip helper-address, i normally study via cbtnuggets video and i have heard about it 89. Leo February 20th, 2013 @anonymous Will you explain to me the ip helper-address, i study via cbtnuggets and i have never heard about it 90. Leo February 20th, 2013 @wasim Congrats, will you please send me the Khattaks strategy to jkirero@yahoo.com. Thanks in advance. 91. wasim February 20th, 2013 @ LEO Download Khattaks strategy http://www.4shared.com/office/2hosHqEy/TSHOOT_Strategy_by_Khattak.html 92. Anonymous February 20th, 2013 @Leo The Cisco IOS command that makes a router a DHCP relay agent is the ip helper-address command. This is an interface configuration command that makes the router forward the BOOTP/DHCP requests from clients to the DHCP server. 93. cisco ccnp February 20th, 2013 @127.0.0.1 thanks .it is very nice of you to come and help out like you are doing i was struggling to find out how to use the correct topology from a said ticket i have discovered that this issue had disturbed many test takers -digging to find out how to pick the correct topology from a ticket chosen ,i have discovered that the safest method is by elimination : it is good to start pinging in all tickets eliminating the first 3 tickets where client 1 can ping 10.1.1.1 + 1 ticket where you can ping 10.1.1.2 but not 10.1.1.1 (bgp nat,bgp acl,bgp 65/56) + ospf authentication all on R1 .all this on layer 3 topology then you can procced to : hsrp ticket and ipv6 ticket ,you just look for them and eliminate them from the rest of the ticket ,they are simple to find because they are clearly stated as hsrp ,and ipv6 in the ticket their topology is simple to find ipv4 and the ipv6 one. then in the remaining tickets : try and find the 4 tickets with ip address 169.x.x.x , of those tickets 3 have a failure ping on asw1,dsw1 and 1 has failure ping on R4 (dhcp ..) ..Here we use layer 2 topology . the rest of the ticket have failure on R4 and it is easy to see that you have to use the layer 3 topology . what is left to do after the elimination session ,is to find symptoms specific to a particular ticket : like all the R1 tickets and find what make one a bgp acl and not bgp nat or 65/56 for that you use the show command show ip bgp summary to find the answers . . .- all of that is well documented on this site . so i did find the solution to my problem the elimination method help me to find the correct topology to use quite easily Digging a bit more i found in the FAQ & TIPS on this site that finding the correct topology to use was a great issue and that they answered to that question ,unfortunaly i did not see that otherwise i would not have failed, because this wasted my time and frustrated and confused me during the exam .here it is : 10. As I see there are 3 topologies in the exam. My question is to how to find which topology to use when doing a trouble ticket. Does it clearly state in exam whether to use this topology (layer 2 or layer 3, for example)? In the exam, it doesnt say clearly which topology you need to use. But a reader on networktut.com has shared this tip: There is no really best way to choose which topology to use. This is my style: Most of the time I was using the ipv4 topology as it contains most of the nodes with ip addresses and in the cause of your troubleshooting and you discovered that you need more details on the ASW1 & 2 switches that is when I used the Layer 2 topology except for the ipv6 topology.

Any node on IPV4 topology that is in Layer 2 topology have same configuration irrespective of where you click on the nodes. Study all tickets here and use the following elimination style below: List out all the trouble ticket on the white little board you will be giving and tick each ticket as you answer them because this will let you know which tickets are remaining to look out for. I must say that i am happy today -YOU CAN see that they came to the same conclusion as me after my two days digging and they proposed a similar method of separation of tickets . @ bruce wayne you must be a great network engineer with quite a lot of experience -your strategy of going straight to the 4 problem device failing the ping is great one ,very clever but like i said before you are a bad teacher good luck with your career @cool as you can see i found the solution ,but i will practice again with you linkbut i am sure you will pass ,you are way over this league. @ khatty and anonymous hope you find this informative. ,thank you for reading me . good luck to all . 94. COOL February 20th, 2013 @cisco ccnp Thanks and wish you the same. For accessing those toplogies please do the following: After downloading those tickets go to individual ticket folder and check for the tshoot file Right click on that and edit the file Then in the file replace localhost to 127.0.0.1 and for the image path: (this you would have got with the download itself) image name would be C3660-JK.BIN Thats it. Save the file and double click on the tshoot file and you get the complete topology running. Hope you get this. Let me know if you face any problems. We are here to learn and solve :) 95. TROYAN February 20th, 2013 @COOL Do you have rest 4 TT in the file only has 10 TT?? Regards, 96. cisco ccnp February 20th, 2013 @cool ok .i will if i get a problem . 97. Nagi February 21st, 2013 I had exam today, but I got 313/1000 :( and yeah failed . I studied with http://www.networktut.com and 32q dump. Is the questions changed today or something? or maybe I did wrong thing? I had put all the answers way like how dump said. Can somebody please help me. They gave me 13 tickets, then I answered them all , but top of the line, it says 13 of 12 completed. does something occur when I answered over 1 question? is this mean I gets all wrong? and I dont see any questions in each tickets says EIGRP AS is worng,'problem in HSRP like questions in the dump. is it sure that I just have to answer the tickets without seeing questions sentence? or is it mean to be gound and put the answers? 98. umdo you mean using ping command on client 1 to destination? I tried that at first time, but after putting the tickets, I didnt do that. was it necessary? 100. Tryinghard February 21st, 2013 @Nagi, yes my friend. It is necessary as each ticket has a different situation or scenario. Put it this way, each ticket has different device configurations that match a certain scenario. From my understanding you just checked once, and referenced that to all the tickets. right ? 101. Nagi February 21st, 2013 @Tryinghard yeah, thats it. now I understand what was the problem. so I have to check the scenario everytime? is it keep changing ? damnI was being too careless. I was depend on dumps like other CCNPs. 102. COOL February 21st, 2013 @TROYAN I think there are 11 TTs. port security TT is not there. DHCP TT is not there VLAN ACCESS map is not there. Rest all are there in it. 1 of the TT has a combination of 2 in it. So you would be solving 2 TTs at a time for one of them. 103. jhavan05 February 21st, 2013 Hi all, cleared my Tshoot exam and tnx God i passed it w/a high mark.. Same thing youll see in the exam, 13 TT (NO EIGRP AS so dont waste your time on that) and 4 multiple choice, everything will not work using the techniques if youll not understand first about CCNP switching and routing. Ive created a simple VCE file that will help you to quite familiarize with the 13 TT, you can download the file in this link http://www.4shared.com/file/7xjSHVag/Tshoot.html note: i forgot whatre the answer choices on EIGRP passive interface but make it sure in this ticket youll just focus on EIGRP 10 and look on passive interface command that need to remove also, some command not able to use on the actual exam like sh run int, sh run int eigrp neigh, etc but sh run command is the most common use command to find the prob on the ticket except for BGP, NAT ACL and IP ACCESS list bec sh ip bgp summary is the useful command you can use for this. Like for example sh ip bgp summary on BGP youll will see anything bec of the incorrect bgp neigh, sh ip bgp summary on IP Access list youll see that BGP is on ACTIVE mode and sh ip bgp summary on NAC ACL youll see that BGP has a prefix value 1 104. harry February 21st, 2013 Cleared my CCNP-Tshoot, the TTs are still valid. Study Khattaks strategy nothing else is required. Thnx all.. 105. qwert February 21st, 2013 @ cool Am getting exception detected, stopping importation.what am i doing wrong.please i need your assistance 106. COOL February 21st, 2013 @qwert Let me know what have you done so far so that i can guide you. Have you followed the steps of editing the tshoot file and the image path? 107. @cisco ccnp I am not a teacher. I am someone who dislikes a person who claims to be a CCNP without even understanding his CCNA. if you are unable to grasp the concept of pinging 5 different points to find out the problem, then you cannot be a network engineer. like i said earlier, the topologies doesnt matter. what matters is if the problem fails at R4, what are the issues? the topologies are only to be used when you are trying to find the next hop to ping. thats all. 110. Bruce Wayne February 22nd, 2013 @Nagi, I already said this earlier. 1. write down all 14 TT plus the solution on the paper provided. 2. dont depend on any strategy. just ping from R1, R4, DSW1, ASW1 and client 1 at every start of the ticket. follow this order everytime. 3. check each TT but dont submit your answer. label it on your paper and abort the TT. you have 13 TT but 14 scenarios, so you miss one. my missing TT was the eigrp as 4. once you write down all the TT to the problems on the paper, submit but double check your answer 5. It was the last exam from CCNP suite. The tickets are still valid. Thanks for the members of this form for their effort and comments. It were 13 tickets with no ticket related to EIGRP AS wrong (1 instead of 10) case. No bug in DSW1 vlan filter. You will see the right answer scrolling down the page. I wish you all the best luck for the exam. Comment pages Previous 1 75 76 77 6 1. No trackbacks yet. Add a Comment Name
