Where have we come from?

Education systems based on and designed by industry Rigid, rote, repetitive routine Doing not designing

Where have we got to?

Institutes themselves have changed very little Onset of technology and latterly the g outlook internet has changed Building Schools of the Future

Location Porter
Stream video in 3G Adapts existing video devices Streams at up to 30fps

3D Projection
Not a new idea But... new technology has arrived

3D Projection (Passive)

Future Technologies

3D Projection (Passive)
Image separation achieved by polarizing the light differently. Glasses filter the light so that each eye perceives the different image. p g Special silver screen must be used to preserve light polarization

3D Projection (Passive)

Pros: Passive glasses are relatively inexpensive Cons: High set-up cost, projectors must be perfectly, special screen

3D Projection (Active)

Technical Seminars Autumn 2009 Page 7

RM 2009

Future Technologies

3D Projection (Active)
Image is generated in a frame sequential format (alternating left & right frames) glasses are synchronized y with Shutter g the image and turn on/off with each frame of data

3D Projection (Active)

Pros: Image quality is better, hardware cost is lower Cons: Glasses cost is higher than passive, limited content (for now)

3D Imaging
120Hz displays capable of active 3D 3D TVs no glasses required
