Welcome to Siebel Bookshelf


Siebel Bookshelf includes the complete documentation set for this version of Siebel Applications as PDF (Portable Document Format) files. You can view the documents directly from the CD-ROM, store them locally on your computer, or store them on a server for multiuser network access.

Viewing Documents
When you click on a document listed on the home page, its table of contents appears. You can click any contents listing to jump to its page. Cross-references on text pages are also clickable links. You can use the standard Acrobat features to navigate and search the documentation setconsult Acrobats help system if necessary.

Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader with Search


To view Siebel Bookshelf documents and use their full functionality, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader with Search. If you have a version of Acrobat Reader without the search feature, you can view the documents, but the search feature (and search results window) will not work. If you do not have Acrobat Reader with Search, you can install it from the CD-ROM. To Install Acrobat Reader with Search 1. Insert the Siebel Bookshelf CD-ROM into your computers CD-ROM drive. 2. Use Windows Explorer to find the Acrobat directory on the CD-ROM. 3. Double-click the Setup.exe file within the Acrobat directory. 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software.

Installing Bookshelf on a Client or Server Computer


You can install the Siebel Bookshelf on a client computer for local access or on a server for multiuser network access. Copy the homepage.pdf file and the docs directory from the CD-ROM to the client or server hard disk. When you copy the files, make sure to set up a directory structure that keeps the homepage.pdf and docs directory in the same locations relative to each other. You can click the Homepage bookmark to redisplay the homepage.

Launching the Program


The Autorun program should automatically open the Homepage.pdf file. If this does not happen: 1. Open Windows Explorer, then open the CD-ROM drive. 2. Double-click the file homepage.pdf to display the Bookshelf home page.

Using the Home Page


The Siebel Bookshelf home page (homepage.pdf) displays automatically when you insert the CD-ROMif Acrobat is installed on your computerand lists all the titles in the documentation set. Buttons on the home page provide shortcuts to important features:

 Info displays this document.  Search opens the dialog box in which you can use Boolean operators,
wild cards, and other options to define your search query.

Third-Party Documentation
Bookshelf includes documentation on several ancillary products. You can find these documents in the ThirdParty directory.

 Results displays a list of links to results of the most recent search.
