Negotiation should be seen as joint problem solving to resolve each parties underlying issues, needs, and concerns. Unfortunately that is not the case. Most negotiators take the view that for them to get what they want the other side will not be able to get what they want. These negotiators work from a zero-sum perspective. This presentation provides a systematic process for putting interest-based negotiation principles into practice. Participants will assess how their own organization's negotiation practices can be more effective in reaching durable agreements that improve the working relationships between the parties. Outcomes

Mike received extensive training from top institutions including, a Master Degree in Dispute Resolution from the prestigious Straus Institute at Pepperdine University School of Law, a Juris Doctorate from Trinity Law School, a Master Degree in Leadership and Management and a Bachelor degree in Public Administration, both from the University of La Verne. Mike is the president/owner of Pacific Conflict Management in La Verne, CA and has been an adjunct professor for the University of La Verne since 1986.
