So Much To Celebrate
his issue is bursting with celebrations, from the big fat Greek wedding featured on the cover (the subject of a wonderfully romantic story by Margaux Anbouba on Page 4) to a double wedding of two sisters on a yacht on a sunset cruise. Caroline Marshall and her sister, Sarabeth Marshall, were engaged within 30 days of each other, so naturally a double wedding was a logical decision. Talk about double the fun: There are two weddings with connections to Toms Shoes; you know, the company that gives a pair of shoes away for every pair purchased. In the double wedding (Page 8), the Marshall sisters entire bridal party wore Toms Shoes. Meanwhile, Rachel Rogers, the great-granddaughter of Mary Kay Ash, ditched her designer heels to don a pair of blue sparkly Toms down the aisle (Page 16). Not to worry; Mary Kay would have loved the bridesmaids dresses. They were you guessed it pink. And if thats not enough merriment, weve got a saxophone-playing priest at

SPOTLIGHT
After Olivia Jennings and Justin Adendorff said their vows in Fira, the capital of the Greek island of Santorini, bystanders watched them walk to their reception.

t all started at someone elses wedding. Olivia Jennings best friend, Heather Linburg, had been trying ceaselessly to set her up with Justin Adendorff without success. But it wasnt until the two Dallas residents attended Heathers wedding in the Grand Caymans that the bride could manipulate the seating chart, forcing the two to meet. Two and a half years later, during a trip to New Orleans, Justin, a native of South Africa, proposed to Olivia as they laid in a park. Afterwards, we got back on a Southwest flight back to Dallas, Olivia said. On the plane, I asked him where he wanted to get married. We had four options: Dallas;
Colorado, because we love to ski; Greece, because thats where my dad is from; or South Africa. I totally didnt think he would choose Greece. But he did! I was shocked. So the couple who had met at a destination wedding began planning their own. Greece is somewhere special, Justin said. I knew it would mean a lot to Olivias dad, and my parents would love it too. Geographically, its in the middle for both of our families. The couple set the date for Memorial Day 2013, and began planning a wedding on the Greek island of Santorini from more than 6,000 miles away with the help of Stella Chanioti. I found the worlds most amazing wedding planner, who just happened to speak perfect English and lives on Santorini, Olivia said. We wanted somebody who

Olivia Jennings, a graduate of Hockaday, and Justin Adendorff were married in a traditional Greek Orthodox service during the Memorial Day weekend. would understand a traditional Greek Orthodox wedding, but also an American bride. Soon after getting engaged, Olivia and her family spent 48 hours on the island, selecting venues, trying cakes, and listening to musicians. After that, it was modern technology such as email and Skype that made planning the Greek wedding of her dreams possible. We wanted to show people different parts of Greece, but also build toward the wedding, not have it be overshadowed by anything else, Olivia said. So we had three big events: the boat ride, the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding. The couples international background created a diverse group of attendees. The bride invited friends from her time at Armstrong Elementary School, the Hockaday School, and Harvard University; the groom brought friends from South Africa, Tulane University, and his global travels. We had guests from all over the world: Australia, Germany, South Africa, Pakistan, India, and Nepal, Justin said. Everybody came a very long way for us, and it meant so much to us. We thought giving them an experience that they will never forget was the best way to make it worth it for them. Once they arrived on the island, 75 guests were whisked away to cruise the Mediterranean Sea on a chartered boat. This event was extra-special because it took place on the 60th birthday of James Jennings, Olivias father. They celebrated under the sun with Greek music and dancing, swimming in the hot springs, and drinking plenty of ouzo. Next came the rehearsal dinner, hosted in the Vedema Hotels 400-year-old wine cave, known as Visanto. It is very different from anything else on the island, Justin said. It had a very medieval feeling; it was appropriate for the island, but something people typically dont know about. All the festivities led up to Sunday, when the couple said I do in a traditional ceremony at a Greek Orthodox chapel in Fira, Santorini. The view was breathtaking, as was the bride, who wore a one-shouldered Grecian gown designed by Carolina Herrera and a veil embroidered with olive branches. Olivias bridesmaids were her sisters, Caroline and Alexandra, who were dressed in coral Bella Bridesmaid dresses. After the ceremony, guests made their way to a reception under the stars. The floral arrangements, which consisted of roses grown on Santorini, perfectly matched the bridesmaids dresses. Guests tore up the dance floor to music by both a DJ and a traditional Greek band. Most importantly, the bride and groom were thrilled to start their new life together surrounded by their friends and family. When youre at a wedding, its the bride and groom building your new family in front of everybody, Olivia said. Our wedding was everything we ever wanted, and encapsulated all of the joy Justin and I have for life. It was the perfect way to start our life together it was this defining moment for us as a couple. We are a Greek and South African couple, and we want to live our life together celebrating our family and roots. Email margaux@ peoplenewspapers.com

Sarabeth Marshall & Karson Moffett Caroline Marshall & David Walker
hough separated by thousands of miles, sisters Caroline and Sarabeth Marshall became betrothed within 30 days of each other. Sarabeth, in Vicenza, Italy, and Caroline, on the beach of San Luis Obispo, Calif., set their hearts on a double wedding. On Sept. 1, 2013, aboard the 140-foot yacht Endless Dreams, their wishes came true. The couples, along with 150 family and friends, set sail in Newport Beach Harbor to relish their sunset-cruise wedding. The grooms hosted a rehearsal breakfast at the waterfront Newport Beach Back Bay Bistro and rehearsal lunch at the landmark Woodys Wharf. The evening ended with a Welcome to California party at Mr. and Mrs. Burton Youngs residence, where guests dined, toasted smores, and enjoyed brandy and cigars overlooking Newport
Beachs Back Bay. The Marshall sisters were individually escorted down the hand-painted seashell-dressed aisle by their father, Bruce Marshall, to Balmorheas Truth. David Francis Walker watched as his fianc, Caroline Elizabeth Marshall, approached on the arm of her father. Matthew Karson Moffett anxiously waited as his fianc, Sarabeth Ashley Marshall, holding hands with Bruce, followed. The couples then took turns exchanging vows in a ceremony officiated by Pastor Matthew Elliot Bullen. Everyone exited for drinks and passed hors doeuvres during the cocktail hour, with guests moving into the dining room for a seated dinner with selection of swordfish, filet mignon, or portobello mushroom ravioli. A shipboard reception continued with music provided by Californias pre-
mier DJ, Kelli Gurman, who played Im on a Boat among other favorites. Caroline and David danced their first dance to Happy Everafter in Your Eyes, while Sarabeth and Karson shared I Wont Give Up. Not a dry eye remained as Caroline and her father danced to I Loved Her First, with Sarabeth following after with Time to Say Goodbye. The brides are the daughters of Mr. D. Bruce Marshall of University Park and Ms. Georgia Cramer Marshall of Dallas. They are the granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. George Hallock Cramer and the late Mr. and Mrs. David Ham Marshall. David Francis Walker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin David Walker of Orange Park, Fla., and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Francis Morr, the late Ms. Moira Kay Porter Walker, and the late Mr. Timothy
Peter Walker. Matthew Karson Moffett is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Doyle Moffett of Ovilla, Texas. He is the grandson of Ms. Billie Jarrell Bailey, the late Mr. Kyle Preston Bailey, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Doyle Moffett. Caroline wore an antique white Clara, a double-faced satin gown by Nicole Miller. Its wrap front was accented by its surplice neckline and draped halter back. She paired this with a Theia couture silk tulle skirt and Jacqueline Watkins crystal-beaded chapellength veil and belt. Sarabeth chose an ivory Grecian-style Hamelin dress from the Rosa Clar Soft collection. She paired her beaded, silk tulle, off-the-shoulder gown with a Jacqueline Watkins chapel-length veil of delicate lace. From brides to flower girls and grooms

he countdown to Catherine Hunter Casey Rodgers and Ross Richard Flemings idyllic wedding weekend began when they arrived at La Samanna Resort in St. Martin, the French West Indies, four days prior to their nuptials. Amidst busy wedding preparations, the couple met with Father Franz, a retired German priest who agreed to substitute when the local priest was called away for a family emergency. It was Father Franz who officiated the 4 oclock ceremony on June 8, 2013, at the 200-year-old Eglise Catholique Saint-Martin de Tours in Marigot, the French capital.
Arriving guests immersed themselves in Caribbean culture, and two days before the wedding enjoyed exotic cocktails and hors doeuvres and dancing at a welcome party hosted by the brides parents at La Samannas Beach Bar. On the eve of the wedding, the grooms family transported 114 guests from 17 states and two countries to a rehearsal dinner. There, in the small fishing village of Grand Case, they were served authentic French cuisine at Le Ti Provencal with cocktails on the beach and dinner in the airy restaurant overlooking a spectacular view of the Caribbean sunset. The Saturday-afternoon wedding cere-
mony was highlighted by the angelic voices of a womens choir, and it ended with a surprise gift to Casey and Ross from Father Franz, who played an Ave Maria solo on his saxophone. When the drawbridge re-opened following the wedding, guests returned to La Samanna for a cocktail reception to the sounds of steel drums before descending from the terrace overlooking the white beach to the formal pool, where individually tented tables surrounded the pool and a five-course candle-lit dinner was served. Dancing began after cutting the rose-covered French cake, and the night sky was lit by a surprise fireworks display, a gift
from the brides parents. The evening ended with family and friends enjoying a beach bonfire marshmallow roast. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hunter Rodgers of Dallas. She is the granddaughter of the late AnnaRuth Smith and the late Charles Alan Smith, formerly of Chappaqua, N.Y.; the late Dorothy Rodgers Carpenter and the late Leon Carpenter; and the late James ODonnell Rodgers, formerly of Austin. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Donald Fleming of Naperville, Ill. He is the grandson of the late Christine Krotzer and the late Robert Keith Krotzer,

formerly of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and June Maxine Fleming of Lombard, Ill., and the late Harry Donald Fleming, formerly of Alexandria, Ind. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She was escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father. Casey chose an elegant gown, designed by Anne Barge for Neiman Marcus, which she paired with her mothers lace veil. The fitted gown of French Alencon lace and silk organza featured a sweetheart neckline. Its lace sash, with a handmade organza flower, accentuated the brides tiny waist, while her skirt fell to her slippers. Lace-covered buttons
lined the back, sweeping gracefully to her chapel-length train. Her three twisted diamond-drop earrings, borrowed from her mother, and her gold-and-diamond bracelet, a gift from the groom, completed her outfit. Assisting the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Anne Elizabeth Rodgers of New York. Bridesmaids included Mary Lauren Alday of Chicago, Katherine Tart Kibler of Charleston, S.C., and Christy Diane Welder of New York. Sydney Frances Viehman of New York was a house-party member. Attending the groom as best man was Jason Brian McKibben of San Francisco.
Groomsmen included Mark Campbell Adams of Naperville, Ill., Paul Christopher Gierstorf of Itasca, Ill., and Duke Michael Punhong of New York. Christopher Stuart Davis of Rye, N.Y., and Eric Jonathan Seeve of Key Biscayne, Fla., served as ushers. Scripture readers included Stephen L. iper Reiff and Matthew Byzet exchanged wedding vows, which theyd written privately beforehand, on Saturday, June 22, 2013. The Honorable Patrick Michael Duffy officiated their sunset ceremony in the lobby of the Capella Pedregal Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with the Pacific Ocean as a lovely, dramatic backdrop. During the ceremony, a duo sang The Prayer, a moving Celine Dion/Luciano Pavarotti hit, and Margaret Ann Fryman, the grooms aunt, did a reading of The Art Of A Good Marriage, by Wilferd Arlan Peterson.
This three-day weekend wedding extravaganza actually started when their 110 guests began arriving for the fun. Their welcoming dinner Thursday night at El Farrallon on the resort provided a fabulous taste of authentic Mexico, both in cuisine and dcor, while the strolling mariachi band played for their enjoyment. The bride chose a long, flowing Monique Lhuillier gown from Maddison Row Bridal Chic in Charleston, S.C., and a Bohemia-like headpiece from Stanley Korshak in Dallas that added fun flair to the festivities. The evening ended with a colorful fireworks dis-
play over the ocean as everyone toasted the bride and groom. In keeping with the color scheme of gold, silver, and white, the seated rehearsal dinner at Don Manuels on the resort, hosted by the grooms parents on the eve of the wedding, was aglow with golden splendor. A multitude of gold candles and accoutrements created a dazzling, romantic feel, accented by touches of white. One of these was a single white orchid gracing each guests napkin. The bride selected a short, strapless LulaKate gown, also from Maddison Row Bridal Chic. It added much
to the roaring 20s ambiance. The wedding ceremony followed the next evening with the wedding reception at the Capella Pedregal Resort-Beach Club, which was glorious with shimmery, silverand-white decor. Delicious dinner was served with late-night food as well, as the evening continued until 1 a.m. with dancing under the stars and the Super Moon to the lively sounds of NDemand a band from Los Angeles that lured everyone to the huge, white dance floor. They played many favorites, ending the evening with Dont Stop Believin by Journey, inviting

everyone back onto the dance floor for this one final dance with the bride and groom. The bride is the daughter of Ron and Melissa Reiff of Dallas. The groom is the son of Randy and Susan Byzet of Lexington, Ky. Presented in marriage by her parents, the bride was escorted down the aisle on the arm of her father. Piper chose a sassy, v-neck plunge Badgley Mischka couture gown from White on Daniel Island in Charleston. She wore a birdcage veil gathered on one side, in homage to the high fashion style of the 20s. The groom adopted a James Bond look with a crisp
white jacket and taut ivory suspenders. Also a remembrance of times past was the handkerchief this bride carried, a gift from her familys closest friend, Ann Clancy. It had belonged to Anns husband, Kevin Clancy, who passed away a month before the wedding. Kevin was Irish through and through, so it was only fitting that Piper and Matt should have his initials monogrammed on it in emerald green. This handkerchief proved especially useful to both the bride and the groom during their teary-eyed, emotion-filled ceremony. Attending the bride as matron of honor
was Meredith Nelson of Broken Arrow, Okla. Bridesmaids included Lizzie Wolf of New York; Sydney Heath-Williams of Las Vegas; Megan Burns of New York; Brittany Reiff of El Cerrito, Calif.; and Laura Byzet of New York. Next, a trumpet summoned guests into Arlington Hall, elegant with its 1950s glamour and cutcrystal vases of fragrant cherry blossoms, for a Southern-style grand buffet including shrimp and grits, crawfish touffe, and fried green tomatoes (a nod to the couples time spent in New Orleans during their courtship). The lively guests were entertained for the rest of the evening by the 10-piece Jimmy Church Band of Nashville, Tenn., who introduced the newlyweds and rocked the crowd with tunes by the Jackson 5, Tina Turner, other Motown artists, and the Black Eyed Peas until the couples 1 a.m. sparkler-lit departure into a 1960 vintage

William Webb and Brianne Frost, who got married in April, met 13 years earlier while participating in the Park Cities YMCA Track and Field Meet.

he blast of a starters pistol sounds nothing like the chimes of wedding bells. But for one young couple, those noises are forever linked. Brianne Frost and William Webb got married on April 27, nearly 13 years after they met at the 2000 edition of the Park Cities YMCA Track and Field Meet. Well, they didnt exactly meet at the meet. But thats where William first noticed Brianne.
They were both fifth-graders at McCulloch Intermediate School. She had just finished competing in the long jump for her old school, University Park Elementary. He was waiting to run a relay for his alma mater, Hyer Elementary. William tried to work up the nerve to say something to Brianne, but he was a little intimidated by the presence of her father, Scott. I walked in circles around them for a little bit, trying to catch her eye, William said. After finding out her name, William looked up Briannes phone number in the McCulloch directory. He dialed that number 20 times before he found the courage to hit the call button.
Her dad answered, and I was a little bit terrified, William said, but I asked to speak to Brianne, and basically asked her out. Brianne agreed to go see a movie with him, because it turned out that her dad, whom William initially perceived as a hurdle, was actually a fan. Scott recognized Williams name from the track meet. Hes the fastest guy in fifth grade, Brianne remembers her father telling her. You have to go out with him. Aside from a couple of short-term breakups, shes been going out with him ever since. They stayed together through their years at McCulloch, Highland Park Middle School, and Highland Park High School, where they were both on the track team.
They remained a couple as she played soccer at Oklahoma and he played football at Virginia and SMU. On Nov. 24, 2011, William popped the question in the Goar Park gazebo. After their wedding at Highland Park United Methodist Church and honeymoon on a Mediterranean cruise, the couple lives in Houston, where shes a landman and hes an equity analyst. So if any of the young athletes who participated in this years Park Cities YMCA track meet noticed someone special that day, take a page out of Williams book; call him or her up. That teammate may end up being your soulmate. Email dan.koller@ peoplenewspapers.com
