HAVE A R-ACHING BACK?
Avoid twisting your body while raking.

that arose and everything was perfect.
Our second business owner was Tim Knowles of Questa Lasagna
who provided the hors doeuvres at a reduced price. Everything was
great and we ate our fair share.
The other event was the induction of three new members: Mary
DImperio, Lynn Flannagan and Tracy Se. These ladies bring with
them new ideas and the important fun loving spirit. If nothing else, we
all love fun!

We have gone to lunch when the weather is bad; visited the George Eastman
House which features many photographs and a tour of the house itself with so
many interesting things to see; miniature golf; attended 2 conferences; went to
Frontier Stadium and had lunch at the Dinosaur Barbecue and many more things.
Imagine our surprise when one member asked if this wasnt a big
anniversary, maybe 10 years. No one expected that we had been
together that long. We believed it was because we always had fun.
Jessie Hollingshead and her sister Linda Wray were the founders of
our group and they picked women that they thought would bring something
special to the group. With our big anniversary coming up, a celebration was
planned and it had to be a fancy celebration. Bring on the hors doeuvre
luncheon. Thats pretty fancy. Queen Mother Jessie and Vice Queen
Linda made all the plates.
Once again, two Mount Morris businessmen provided us with much
help. Steve Luick, of the Allegiance Bed and Breakfast, allowed the
use of the picturesque mansion. The weather was warm which made
Its been peoples experience that time moves
fast when you are involved in things. For high school
students, time moves fast towards their graduation or
another year closer to being a senior.
When you are a member of a golf league, the
league begins in the spring with chill still in the air
and the days are getting longer. Suddenly, the days
are getting shorter and it seems the sun isnt as
warm. The same thing has happened to the Purple
Ladies By a Dam Site.

The Family of Nancy Thompson would like to thank our family,
friends, Trinity Church family, and the Nunda-Dalton community
for their support during our recent loss. Our gratitude goes to
Anastasia Events for the wonderful meal, Kathys Country Florist
for the beautiful fowers, and Mann Funeral Home for the
arrangements. Thank you to Rev. Duttweiler and Dr. Kingdon
for their words of blessing, prayers, and touching service. Thank
you to everyone that helped provide the meal at Trinity Church
between calling hours. Thank you for the visits and phone calls
while Nancy was in the hospital. We have received an
overwhelming number of cards and delicious food while Nancy
was in the hospital and since her passing. We will miss her terribly,
but she left us with many wonderful memories. Your thoughts,
prayers, and acts of kindness were greatly appreciated.

IS YOUR HOME SAFE FROM RADON?
Radon is sneaky and dangerous! Radon is a cancer-causing radioactive gas that you
cannot see, smell, or taste. It can be present in your home without you knowing and has been
identifed by the Surgeon General as the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United
States. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, radon is responsible for
approximately 20,000 deaths annually.
Radon is produced naturally by the decay of radioactive material in soil, rock and in
groundwater. It moves upward in the soil and can enter your home through cracks and other
holes in your homes foundation or with groundwater from a well. Houses located on highly
permeable, gravel concentrated soils; with ground water levels deep below the surface, can
have indoor radon levels that are above average. These environmental characteristics are
especially prevalent in the river valleys of the Finger Lakes region and the Southern Tier region.
Houses located on or around limestone may also be at higher risk for elevated indoor radon
levels.
According to the EPA Map of Radon Zones, Livingston County is one of many counties in
New York State considered to have the highest potential for high radon levels. The only way
to determine if radon is a concern in your home is to test for it using a radon detection kit. The
Livingston County Department of Health reminds residents that radon detection kits are avail-
able free of charge to Livingston County residents who are homeowners, through the Center
for Environmental Health. For more information on radon or to get a free radon detection kit,
contact the Center for Environmental Health of the Livingston County Department of Health
at 243-7280 or visit our website at www.livingstoncounty.us/doh.htm.

Trick or Treat
Halloween sweets
wreak havoc on your childs teeth.
Halloween is just around the corner, and candy consumption will be in full force. We want you to be aware of
the kinds of candy that are the worst for your childrens teeth.
Chewy, sticky sweets, such as taffy, gummy candies and caramels have the highest chance of cavities. These candies
stick to everything inside of your mouth, including the grooves of your teeth The longer the food sticks to your
teeth, the longer bacteria can feed on it, which could lead to a cavity.
Make sure your child is brushing twice a day for at least two minutes. Proper oral hygiene can avoid cavities.
