Upon arrival found D.C. Thomas Haring in Command
I was directed by D.C. Harinq to report to D.C. James Esposito at Liberty St. Command
£r Post. D.C. Esposito ordered me to make my way into the rubble field to the middle of
the WTC complex where an active rescue attempt was taking place. Upon arrival at the
dig site I assumed the position of logistics and communication Chief. For the next nine
hours I coordinated the assignment of FDNY rescuers and material into the "hole"and
acted as communications relay between the members in the hole and the Command Post.
I also directed the shifting of the Command Post to Church St. in order to shorten
the supply lines and facilitate the removal of Sgt. John McLoughlin PAPD which was
accomplished at 07:30 hrs.on 9/12/01 completing a successful rescue.
REMARKS
Meritorious Act submitted for all FDNY members who operated in the "hole" during
Accidents or Injuries to yourself or Aide and/or other members while working under your direct command, or damage to Department
tutomobfle assigned for your use shall be reported under "REMARKS", FOLLOWED by a special report.

LT SULLIVAN ORDERED FF NOON TO PLACE APPARATUS AT HYDRANT ON LIBERTY
BETWEEN CHURCH AND BROADWAY,MEMBERS PROCEEDED TO SOUTH TOWER
LOBBY COMMAND POST WHERE THEY WERE LAST SEEN.FF NOON MOVED RIG TO
WASHINGTON AND CARLYLE RECEIVING WATER FROM A FIRE BOAT AND RELAYING
WATER TO A STANDPIPE ON WASHINGTON. FF NOON OPERATED PUMPS AND
MONITORED RADIO TRAFFIC AS WELL AS SEARCHING FOR SURVIVERS UNTIL
MIDNIGHT AT WHICH POINT IT WAS APPARENT THE MEMBERS WOULD NOT RETURN.

Lt. Tufano and members of E 227 reported to the command post at Dey St. and Church St.
BC Laperche of Batt. 14 odered us to relieve E 274.E 255 and E94 supplied E 227, E227
supplied 4-21/2 inch lines to supply 2 new ycrk akrons working together extinguishing
pockets of fire within the rubble.

E-231'S NIGHT CREW RESPONDED TO THE W.T.C. FROM THE QUARTERS OF E-24.
WHEN THEY ARRIVED, THE 2ND. TOWER BEGAN TO COLLAPSE AND THE MEMBERS
HAD TO RUN FOR COVER. FORTUNATELY, ALL MEMBERS SURVIVED AND
REGROUPED ON WEST ST. JUST SOUTH OF THE NORTH FOOTBRIDGE.
E-231'S APPARATUS HAD NOT BEEN DAMAGED AND WAS STILL ABLE TO OPERATE.
LT. RIORDAN AND FF'S LAFFAN AND CIALINO RELIEVED THE NIGHT CREW AND WAS
ASSIGNED THE TASK OF AUGMENTING E-227, WHO WAS FEEDING T.L.163. AT 1100
HRS. WE WERE ORDERED TO RETURN TO QTRS. BY COMMAND POST LOCATED AT
MURRAY AND WEST ST.

E-245's apparatus was being used by another unit to supply a tower laddar on Vesay and
Church. Whan we took up our apparatus was moved again so w« proceeded back to qirs.

Operated as a search team at West and Vessy Streets.
OPERATIONS:
Responded from Quarters of Engine Company 211 as relocator. Ordered to respond to
Brooklyn Battery Tunnel mustering site. Unable to enter Mahattan via tunnel so entered
via Brooklyn Bridge. Reported to Vescey St. and Broadway command Post under D.C.
Haring. Then Ordered to West St. command post and remained there until returned to
Quarters.
OPERATIONS:
Ordered to respond to the Battery Tunnel Staging area.
Ordered to search and Coordinate the Extrication and Evacuation of Passengers /Victims
in the Tunnel. Operated under Chief Coyne Bn. 42.
Searched the Tunnels for Secondary Devices during operations in the Tunnels.
Operated at the staging area at Broadway and Ann St. Operated under B.C. Porcella
Eng.280 was sent to the Command Post at West and Vescey St. and assigned to assist
in search , rescue and debris removal from the collapsed area / pile .

OPERATIONS:
Engine 310 was relocated to Engine 55. When the first tower came down we were ordered
by the dispatcher to respond to the WTC. Due to heavy traffic we took a hydrant a few
blocks away. All members including the chauf. Proceeded on foot. And near the corner of
west and Vesey streets we were ordered by B. C. Downey to evacuate the civilians and
Fire Dept. personnel from that location. While in the process the second tower came
down. After taking cover and waiting for the atmosphere to become tolerable all my men
were accounted for and managed to salvage some hose and extinguish several vehicle
fires, we also searched for victims for several hours, we were relieved from duty at app.
24:00 by a D.C.
OPERATIONS:
Set up and supplied Multiversal.

Worked on wreckage pile under direction of Div. 15
OPERATIONS:
DID NOT USE E-321 RIG
UPON ARRIVAL RELIEVED MEMBERS ON LINE AT WEST SIDE HWY , NORTH SIDE OF
NORTH BRIDGE.
STOOD-BY WITH PROTECTIVE LINE WHILE MACHINERY OPERATED. LINE WAS USED
INTERMITTENTLY TO COOL HOT AREAS AND HOLD DOWN DUST.
AT 1200 HRS E-321 RELIEVED OF LINE.
OPERATIONS:
Unit Stood by to supply Tower Ladder.
OPERATIONS:
Eng 323 conducted relay operation with Eng 250 to supply water to 1 3/4" line operating
in search area to protect members operating on pile. Members of Eng 323 also
conducted search operations and assisted other companies with digging and the removal
of body parts under the direction of B.C. levolo. Ordered to return to quarters by D.C.
Rupp.

OPERATIONS:
^Reported to C.P. Ordered to assist R-1 with removal of trapped policeofficer. Operated, assisted and relieved R-1 and
!Sq-270 in removal of P.A.P.D. Sargent John McLoughlin. Removal was approximatly 150' into and 40' down into the
j pile of debris. Ladder 111 operated from 0500 to 0800 9/12/01 and was with Sgt. McLoughlin when he was freed and
removed from the site.
OPERATIONS:
Responded to Brooklyn Battery Tunnel staging area. Ordered to respond to WTC BIdg.
#2.Reported to staging area just south of South Overpass. Ordered to report to Lobby
command post in WTC BIdg. #2. Bldg.#2 collapsed while company was enroute. Company
regrouped at apparatus on West St.. Notified by D.C. Galvin that Fire Dept. members were
trapped inside the Marriott Hotel. Ladder 113 was in the process of attempting removal of
F.D. members when BIdg. #1 collapsed. Lt. Brown removed to hospital via Fire Boat.
Ladder 113 members remained on scene continuing search.
OPERATIONS:
1) Relieved L-152 at corner of Vesey and West Broadway and operate TL stream when
necessary.
OPERATIONS:
1) Relieved L-41 at Greenwich & Barclay Streets and operated TL stream when necessary
into pile.

OPERATIONS:
Operated as sea ch team building n 5 WTC. Then sent to Washington St & Albany,
Use tower ladder on 1 Bankers Trust Building also search lower floors and exterior of the
surrounding buildings.
Dug though rubble on West Street & Liberty St until relieved .
