MyGREEN SARIKEI CARNIVAL 2013

Sarikei, 1 February - The Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) with the cooperation of Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) will once again organise the second edition of MyGREEN Carnival 2013 series of which this time around, MyGREEN Sarikei will be held on Saturday, 2nd February 2013 at Dewan Suarah Sarikei, Sarawak. The official opening ceremony will be graced and launched by Y.B Dato Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water. Till date, this is the very first carnival to be held in Sarikei despite having seen few editions of the carnival in Miri and Kuching. Maintaining the objectives of the MyGREEN Carnival which are to instill awareness on Green Lifestyle and Green Technology; promote the concept of Reduce, Reuse & Recycle as well as learning and applying simple ways of addressing the problem of environmental pollution, the carnival alone is an extension of the Ministrys continued effort to promote green technology throughout the country. Tailored as a one day educational grass root event where it would be targetted towards all levels of the community, YB Dato Peter Chin Fah Kui is inviting people from all walks of life to come and join in the Carnival as each edition will feature different array of activities such as

contests, hands-on activities, fun-filled games, educational workshops, sales and exhibition of green products and services, mini concerts and others. However, sharing the same principal, the carnival emphasises on the importance of reducing the use of energy and will feature other green components like Smoke Free Zone, No Plastic Bag Zone, Green Zone, Learning & Education Zone, Game Zone and others. This is the first time we are going to have such carnival to be held in Sarikei and I hope it will be well received by the people and I am very proud with the continuous effort in practising the green way of life in this part of Sarawak, said YB. Dated back in 2010 of which the idea was transpired during the SUARASA program held in Terengganu and Jom Heboh in Penang, the first 1Hijau 1Komuniti Carnival then held on 13th March 2011 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, followed by the second on 12th June 2011 in Dataran Sungai, Melaka and the third on 17th December 2011 in Sekinchan, Sg. Besar, Selangor. For year 2012, the Carnival kicked off with the Sarawak road tour, beginning with Permy Mall, Miri Sarawak on 25th February 2012. It was followed by the Carnival at the Boulevard, Miri, Sarawak on 14th July 2012 and the final 1Hijau 1Komuniti Carnival was held in Crown Square, Kuching, Sarawak on 15th July 2012.
