A 32 TTR fast-erecting crane with crawler-track undercarriage
is being used on the extension of the Western Rail Line in
Austria, to ensure smooth handling of all kinds of loads. After
work at this point where a main road crosses the system has
been completed, the 32 TTR will continue work at further con-
struction sites. The 32 TTR travels on its own crawler tracks to
the operating points where it is needed.

During the various construction phases approx. 15,000 m3 of
concrete and 1,400 t of reinforcing steel were processed.
This task requires a high degree of mobility, but fortunately the
32 TTR can be transported in an upright position with the com-
plete ballast in place. The maximum angle for crane transport
with the tower erected is 15 % in the longitudinal and 10 % in
the transverse direction. With the tower horizontal, the
maximum angle is as high as 30 % longitudinally and 15 %
transversely.
Outstanding off-road mobility
Crawler cranes are used when rapid and easy changes of loca-
tion, outstanding mobility off-road and low ground contact
pressure are required. The compact crawler-track travel gear
is powered by two axial-piston hydraulic motors via a compact
planetary gear train.

The 32 TTR fast-erecting crane with crawler-track under-

carriage is noted for its outstanding mobility and therefore
its exceptional economy.

Compact crawler-track
undercarriage
This crawler-track undercarriage incorporates know-how from
three Liebherr companies: the sliding outriggers are also used
on the LTM 1045 mobile crane, the crawler-track travel gear is
already operating successfully on new-generation excavators.

Soil pressure is only 7 N/sq. cm in the transport position and

15 N/sq. cm in service. The overall dimensions of the crawler-
track undercarriage including the sliding outriggers are
5.84 m x 2.55 m. The crawler tracks themselves have a length
of 3.92 m. Two versions of the support base, either 4.5 m x 5 m
or 6.3 m x 5 m, are available. Maximum travel speed is
25 m/min with a drive rating of 22 kW.
