INTRODUCTION
Mission:
At IBM we strive to lead in the creation, development, and manufacture of the industrys most advanced information technologies, including computer systems, software, networking systems, storage devices and microelectronics. We translate these advanced technologies into value for our customers through our professional solutions and services worldwide.
Vision:
The ongoing transformation of IBM. The changing approach to Innovation. Web 2.0 tools within IBM. Emerging collaboration capabilities of virtual worlds. Sample impacts on IBMs core business. Some thoughts on collaborative innovation. Our goal is to achieve total customer satisfaction, and each one of us at IBM is dedicated to doing what it takes to make this goal a reality.
Environmental records:
IBM has a long history of dealing with its environmental problems. It established a corporate policy on environmental protection in 1971, with the support of a comprehensive global environmental management system. According to IBMs stats, its total hazardous waste decreased by 44% over the past five years, and has decreased by 94.6% since 1987. IBM's total hazardous waste calculation consists of waste from both non-manufacturing and manufacturing operations. Waste from manufacturing operations includes waste recycled in closed-loop systems where process chemicals are recovered and for subsequent reuse, rather than just disposing and using new chemical materials. Over the years, IBM has redesigned processes to eliminate almost all closed loop recycling and now uses more environmental-friendly materials in their place.

About IBM;
International Business Machines Corporation, abbreviated IBM and nicknamed "Big Blue" (for its official color), is a multinational computer technology and consulting corporation headquartered in New York, and United States. The company is one of the few information technology companies which manufactures and sells computer hardware and software, and offers infrastructure services, hosting services, and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to higher networking technology. Only IBM Information Management has the end-to-end capabilities to help you manage your data and content, pull together trusted information that cuts across diverse silos, and also
gain valuable insights to optimize your business International Business Machines Corporation, abbreviated IBM and nicknamed "Big Blue" (for its official color), is a multinational computer technology and consulting corporation headquartered in New York, and United States. The company is one of the few information technology companies which manufactures and sells computer hardware and software, and offers infrastructure services, hosting services, and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to higher networking technology. In the 1950s, IBM became the dominant vendor in the emerging computer industry with the release of the IBM and other models in the IBM series of mainframes. The company's dominance became even more pronounced in the 1960s and 1970s with the IBM System/360 and IBM System/370 mainframes, however antitrust actions by the United States Department of Justice, the rise of minicomputer companies like Digital Equipment Corporation and Data General, and the introduction of the microprocessor all contributed to dilution of IBM's position in the industry, eventually leading the company to diversify into other areas including personal computers, software, and services.
Motivation:
In order to stay focused and enhance the responsiveness in the On Demand Era, enterprise applications are increasingly modeled after the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). In SOA the enterprise applications are implemented as services that are composed of multiple service endpoints.
Alpha work:
Alpha Works is IBM's source for emerging software technologies. These technologies include: Flexible Internet Evaluation Report Architecture. IBM Linux on POWER Performance Simulator. Database File Archive and Restoration Management. Policy Management for Autonomic Computing. Unstructured Information Management Architecture (UIMA) SDK. Accessibility Browser.
Our Economics:
Based on todays opportunities and our strengthened ability to capitalize on them, as described throughout this document, we believe IBM can generate consistently high returns on invested capital and increased shareholder value.
Innovation:
Although IBM began life as a maker of clocks, scales, electromechanical tabulators and other industrial equipment, it has never defined itself in terms of particular products or technologies. Even when the company emerged as a leader in computation, it was constantly developing new kinds of computational technology and new ways of applying it from automating the new U.S. Social Security system
Manufacturing of IBM:
Virtually all modern console gaming systems use microprocessors developed by IBM. The Xbox 360 contains the Xenon tri-core processor, which was designed and produced by IBM in less than 24 months. Sonys PlayStation 3 features the Cell BE microprocessor designed jointly by IBM, Toshiba, and Sony. Nintendo's 7G (seventh generation) console. The older Nintendo Game Cube utilizes the Gekko processor, also designed by IBM.
Development of e-business:
Project management Strategy and standards definition Planning and implementation Ordering support and procurement Logistics Redelivery preparation Site preparation Cabling services Configuration and installation Asset control
Software group:
IBM is one of the most famous organizations which launched their software with the help of their technology. Management information software; database servers and tools, text analytics, content management, business process management and business intelligence. Lotus software; Groupware, collaboration and business software. Rational software; Software development and application lifecycle management.

Tivoli software; Systems management. Web sphere; Integration and application infrastructure software.
IBM Software:
IBM creates a dedicated software business unit to focus on open, platform-independent middleware. By 2004, IBM Software generates $15 billion in revenue, of which 80 percent is from middleware.
IBM eServer:
Sharing innovation across IBMs server families, the eServer brand unites development, manufacturing, marketing and sales. Since the eServer launch in the fourth quarter of 2000, IBM has gained nearly 10 points of market share.
and Innovation Claims insurance applications that deliver high quality, low-risk, and cost effective solutions for the enterprise.

Network infrastructure:
This global logistics management company required reliable, knowledge, 24x7, on site, technical support a key part of their IT infrastructure. The focus was on IBM AS/400 midrange servers that were running a mission-critical financial application. A large, number of IBM employees are responsible to manage 54,000 people in 1000 locations in over 100 countries around the world engaged with the networking technology. A great concept of VPN solution is implementing in IBM. IBM offers global research, broad experience and networking infrastructure services to help business stay flexible and maintain a competitive advantage. IBM Networking also includes IP as it is a vital component of virtually all environments.

Conclusion:
IBM has long been a leader in innovation creating advanced technology and helping our clients apply it for competitive advantage. We are convinced that computing is fundamentally shifting to a new architecture based on open standards, a networked world, and emergent technologies just because of IBM. We have a strong bias for high-value segments of the industry. This provides our clients with technology, ideas and solution. Providing the new software technologies, hardware technology, and network technology raised the new standard in a business and IT field.
Users should upgrade the latest secure version of the product by applying the vendors Security fixes. Specifically protect port with filtering using firewall and router. Use IPSec to protect DSL traffic between routers. Ensure end-to-end encryption for the data that is traversing the network. Keep each component of the network patched to the latest level. Make sure that the software you have must be licensed and registered.
