MINUTE 1 : WELCOMING SPEECH BY THE CHAIRPERSON 1.1 Addresing speech by Madam Shamini. She thanked all the English Language teachers for attending the meeting.

MINUTE 2 : SPEECH BY TN. HJ. ABD. AZIZ B. MAHMUD (SENIOR ASSISTANT 1) 2.1 Adressing speech by Tn. Hj. Abd. Aziz b. Mahmud. 2.2 Tn. Hj. Abd Aziz reminded all the teachers to do the analysis for the 2008 final year examination. It is hoped that all teachers will work together for better performance in 2009.

MINUTE 3: PRESENTATION AND CERTIFICATION OF THE SECOND MEETING MINUTES AND ARISING MATTERS. 3.1 The second minute was proposed by Mdm. Norhasmihan to be certified. Seconded by Mdm. Sam Zuraidah. 3.2 Arising matters: 3.2.1. Mdm. Shamini said that the SBOA will only be carried out twice a year and not 6 times as announced before.

MINUTE 4: ROUTINE WORK 4.1 SBOA is to be carried out twice a year. Once for each semester. Report must be submitted to Mdm. Shamini. 4.2 Assembly in English is to be carried out on every second Monday of the month. Report is to be submitted to Mdm. Shamini once a month for certification. 4.3 Teachers on duty for the Bulletin Board, English Garden and selling of the magazines will be divided by Mdm. Shamini by February. 4.4 Exercise book Level 1 : 3 books. Level 2 : 3 exercise books and 1 essay book (minimum).

4.5 Spelling to be given 3 times a week. Level 1 : 5-7 words Level 2 : 10 12 words. 4.6 The minimum amount of essays for each class. ( By the end of May) Section A Year 5 10 exercises Section B Year 5 15 exercises Section C Year 5 7 exercises

4.6 Stress on correction for every mistakes done.

MINUTE 5: DEVELOPMENTAL PROGRAMMES 5.1 Teachers who are in charge of all the competition will be announced in January.

MINUTE 6: YEARLY SCHEME OF WORK 6.1 Teachers are reminded to make sure that they have the latest scheme of work and they need to refer to the school calendar for the preparation of the new scheme of work. 6.2 The daily lesson plan should consist theme, topic, skills, specifications, activities, moral value, grammar item (if any) and impact.

MINUTE 7: AUDIT FOR THE 2008 FINAL EXAM 7.1 Students from Bestari, Bijak and Cerdik must pass with a minimum of grade C, in order to obtain at least 80% passes. 7.2 Teachers comments / suggestions: YEAR 6 7.2.1 All the Year 6 teachers agreed to have a diagnostic test in January 2009 to determine the ETR for UPSR 2009. 7.2.2 Students for the remedial classes (GEMS) will be chosen based on Diagnostic 1.

7.3 YEAR 5 7.3.1 The MGB exam paper for the English Language MGB Paper 1 and 2 for the final exam contained a lot of errors. The ESSAY question did not follow the J.S.I. 7.4 YEAR 4 7.4.1 The passing percentage of the students is low. 7.4.2 Several problems were detected by the Year 4 teachers: a. Majority of the weak students did not complete their homework. b. Most pupils did not have workbook. c. Lack of interest in the subject and did not have enough writing exercises. 7.5 YEAR 3 a.Teachers are having difficulties teaching the last class. b.Pupils in 3 Cerdas are of mixed ability because there are only 4 classes in Year 3. c.The enrolments of students are also too large for each class. 7.6 YEAR 2 76.1 The MGB exam papers contained errors. The teachers had to interrupt the students during the exam to correct the mistakes. 7.6.A lot of time was taken and at the same time, it disturbed the students concentration in answering the questions. 7.7 YEAR 1 7.7.1 Mdm. Shamini congratulated the Year 1 teachers for their performance in 2008. It is hoped that everybody will keep up the good work.

7.8 Ways to overcome the problems: a. The teachers set the questions based on the ability and it is hoped that we do not have to use the MGB exam paper b. Teach every grammar item and explain the forms and function. c. Use EW20 to help students in reading and writing. d. Strengthen the reading and writing skills in Level 1 students because it is the foundation years.

MINUTE 8: OTHER MATTERS 8.1 Mdm Shamini wished all the teachers good luck and strive harder for better performance. The key to success, is to work hand in hand. 8.2 The meeting was adjourned at 12.30 p.m
