Character Research: Mythic Genre

Traditionally, the word "myth" refers to a society's shared stories, usually involving Gods and mythic heroes, that explain the nature of the universe and the relation of the individual to it.

Research into Greek Mythological beings

Autmatons
The autamatons were statues of men, monsters and animals which were crafted out of metal and made to animate by the Blacksmith God Hephaestus, (God of re, metalworking, stonemasory and art of sculpture) and also Athenian Inventir Daedalus. They were used for various reasons, such as performing tasks for Gods. Caucasian Eagle: Built to Feed on the ever generating liver of Prometheus. Hippoi Kabeirikoi: Four Bronze Horse shaped automatons build to pull the Adamantine Chariot of the Cabeiri, Twin sons of Hephaestus. Keledones: Singing Maidens made from Gold. Often had the appearance of siren-like bird women. Khalkotauroi: Fire breathing Bulls made of bronze. They were built as a gift for Aeetes, king of Kolkhis. Talos: A giant man made out of bronze, built to protect Europa, Zeus lover.

Tribes
Arimaspi: A tribe of one-eyed men. Skiapodes: Lybian men who had one single large foot which they used to shade themselves from the sun. Panotii: Northen men with ears the length of their body. They lived in cold regions and used their ears to keep them warm at night. According to some they used their ears to y. Pygmies: One and a half foot tall African men, who lived by the river Okeanos, where they fought an eternal war against ocks of migrating cranes, riding goats to battle.

Monsters
Gorgons: cursed powerful, winged sisters with serpents for hair:- Medusa: the only mortal sister. She had the ability to turn men into stone by her gaze. - Sthenno: most murderous sister, killing more men than her sisters combined. - Euryale: Who used her loud shrieks to kill. Graea - Three ancient old spirits, Namblab, Enyo and Pemphredo, who shared 1 eye and 1 tooth between them.

Harpies: Winged monsters known as the hounds of Zeus. They were sent to snatch people away from the earth. They had a female head and torso. Empousai: One of 3 Demonic creatures who took on the appearance of a beautiful women to seduce men. Behind the fake appearance she had aming hair and legs made of brass and donkey. Chimera: Beast with the body and head of a lion, a goats head on its back, and a snake for a tail. Cerberus: 3 headed giant hound which guarded the gates of Hades. Centaur: Creature with the head and torso of a man with behind and legs of a horse. Kobalois mischevious species of sprite which would trick and frighten mortals. Sirens: Mermaid-like women who lured sailors to their deaths with their songs. Telekhines: Skilled metal workers with the heads of dogs and ippers for hands. Furies: Three Netherworld Goddess of pain who worked for Hades and Persephone to punish evil souls. They are described as winged women whos waists and hair were entwined with poisonous snakes.
