China to build world's most expensive film studio
China's richest man Wang Jianlin has disclosed plans to build the world's largest film studio on the
country's east coastal city Qingdao, part of a $8.2 billion development which he called the biggest film
industry investment in history. The project to be named the Oriental Movie Metropolis, expected to be
completed in 2017.
Virat Kohli appointed as the brand ambassador of Border Security Force
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was appointed as the brand ambassador of the Border Security Force (BSF)
on 22nd September 2013. It is important to note that any central force in India has appointed its brand
ambassador. BSF is the second largest paramilitary force of India that guards two crucial Indian borders
with Pakistan and Bangladesh. BSF was established on 1 December 1965.

Meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission began at New Delhi

four day meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission will be held under Article VIII (5) of the
Indus Water Treaty, 1960 here at New Delhi from 22
nd
September to till 25th September, 2013. During
the meeting, Pakistans objection on Ratle (850 MW), Miyar (120 MW), Lower Kalnai (48 MW) and Pakal
Dul (1000 MW) hydroelectric projects proposed to be constructed by India in the Chenab basin are
proposed to be discussed. The Indus Water Treaty, 1960 the Commissioners are required to meet
regularly at least once a year, alternately in India and Pakistan.
Typhoon Usagi hit Shanwei City in China
Typhoon Usagi killed several people after crashing ashore in southern China on 23rd September 2013.
Earlier, Usagi made landfall near Shanwei city in Guangdong province northeast of Hong Kong on 22nd
September 2013. Approximately, 226000 people were relocated due to the storm and more than 7100
houses collapsed or were badly damaged. It was the strongest typhoon to strike Hong Kong city since
1979.
Renowned socialist leader Mohan Singh passes away
A renowned socialist leader and four time member of Parliament Mohan Singh died on 22
nd
September
2013 after a long illness. He was 68. Mohan Singh was General Secretary of Samajwadi party and Rajya
Sabha member.
Deepika Kumari won Silver Medal at the Paris Archery World Cup
India's Deepika Kumari on 22nd September 2013 settled for a silver medal at the Archery World Cup in
Paris, France.

Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) to collaborate and develop a CSR index to facilitate greater corporate
participation in corporate social responsibility (CSR). The new Companies Act 2013 has mandated
eligible companies to spend 2 per cent of their profits on CSR activities

The UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi laid the foundation stone of the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery &
Petrochemicals Complex at Pachpadra in Barmer district of Rajasthan on 22
nd
September 2013. The
refinery being set up at an estimated cost of over 37,000 crore rupees is expected to commence oil
production in 2017-18. With an annual capacity of 90 lakh metric tons, the refinery will provide
employment to one lakh 40 thousand people. The refinery will be first in the country to use indigenously
produced crude oil.

Disgraced Chinese leader Bo Xilai has been handed a life sentence for bribe-taking, embezzlement and
abuse of power in a dramatic end to the most significant political trial in China in more than three
decades. The court found him guilty of using considerable influence as one of China's 25 most senior
politicians to cover up the murder by his wife of her British business partner. He has been sentenced to
life in prison.

The 7th India Russia meeting on trade and investment was held at St. Petersburg , Russia on 20th
September 2013. A high level delegation of 120 Indian business leaders led by Union Minister of
Commerce and Industry participated in the meeting. The special focus was on Pharmaceutical and
Medical Industry, Tourism and Medical Tourism and Trade in goods, services and innovative products.

The foundation stone of Mainline Electrical Multiple Unit (MEMU) Coach Factory was laid at near
Rupaheli Station, Bhilwara District, Rajasthan. MEMU Coach Factory had been approved in the Rail
Budget 2013-14 at an estimated cost of 800 crore rupees. This factory is a joint effort of Indian Railways,
Government of Rajasthan and BHEL.
