AT&T AND 92nd STREET Y LAUNCH NEW 3D DIGITAL DESIGN CLASS AT BRONX HIGH SCHOOL More Than 100 Students to Participate in Weekly Class Supporting STEM Learning through Creative Use of State-of-the-Art 3D Design Program and 3D Printing Students Will Design a Set for School Show (New York, NY) AT&T New York, 92nd Street Y and the Theater Arts Production Company public school (TAPCo) in the Bronx today launched a new 3D Digital Design class that provides STEM education within a creative design curriculum. The 24-week program introduces students to basic design and architecture concepts, exposing them to state-of-the-art 3D design software and 3D printing. More than 100 students in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades meet each week for a one-hour class that combines conceptual learning and hands-on technical training. The students apply their skills by designing a 3D model of the theater set for the schools planned production of In the Time of Butterflies. The set will then be built to scale for the performances. AT&T and 92nd Street Y made the announcement in the Digital Design classroom at TAPCo, where they were joined by students, TAPCo principal Ronald Link and instructor Carol Gretter, who provided a sample lesson. The jobs of tomorrow require a new set of tools, and the Digital Design program will help equip our students with the skills they need to participate in the innovation economy, said Marissa Shorenstein, President AT&T New York State. Understanding that workforce preparedness and STEM experiences are increasingly inseparable, AT&T is proud to partner with the 92nd Street Y and TAPCo school to expand these opportunities and grow the interest in innovation and technology in our schools. As an organization that has been creating communities and supporting education for nearly 140 years, we are thrilled to have found partners in different sectors -Marissa Shorenstein from AT&T New York and Ron Link from TAPCo who have helped to make this idea a reality, said Henry Timms, Interim Executive Director

of 92Y. We know that, working together, we can provide young people with the critical skills and tools they will need to succeed now and in the future. We embrace STEAM in order for TAPCo students to have a contemporary and meaningful school-based experience connected to the creative working world at large, said Ron Link, TAPCo Principal. Our efforts are guided by our shared love of teaching and learning, combined with our recognition of the educational possibilities rooted in the interplay of arts and technology. Our favorite challenge to our students is 'Show me what you know!' Invariably, their answers surprise, confirm and delight. "There are many things I learned while working with Sketch Up. It has taught me to be more patient by making sure everything that I have created is precise, said Cristal Nevarez, 9th grade student, TAPCo. The advice I would give to any student that would like to learn Sketch Up is that it is very complex, but if you have fun with the program it may be easier." The 3D Digital Design program will cover 3D design concepts and models, animation, basic architecture and 3D printing. Students will use Trimble Sketch Up software and Cube 3D printers, and learn how to apply design concepts they learn in class to real problems and projects. In addition to the developing the set for this years school production of In the Time of Butterflies, students will present their own work at an end-of-year exhibition. ### About AT&T AT&T Inc.
