1. State the problem. (Hint: Just write the objective above in the form of a question.) You need to use the steps of the scientific method to identify a mystery mineral. 2. Gather information. (Look it up and/or ask an expert) *see the attached Mineral Identification Data Sheet 3. Form a hypothesis. Write a statement that tells what mineral you think yours is (your two guesses). I think that my mineral is rose quartz or Nirvana quartz.

For a science project, I used the scientific method to reveal mystery mineral. First, I used the following steps of the scientific method; Mr. Finan gave me a mineral. I took sometime observe my mineral. Then, we had a day of taking tests like streak, hardness, luster; looking on the internet for research and then I made my guess. After following, the scientific method I thought that my mineral was Rose Quartz or Nirvana Quartz when Mr. Finan told me that my mineral started with R I knew it had to be Rose Quartz, and I was correct. My mineral is an off-white, pinky, peachy, orangey color. It had optical properties so you could see through it, and it is a square but has some roundness. Its hardness was seven, and the streak was white. The things and resources that helped me most to find my mineral were Mr. Finans websites and hardness chart. Streak and color also helped me. In conclusion, I thought it was fun trying to find my mystery mineral.
