Scavenger Hunt
The purpose of the Cohort Leadership Program II Scavenger Hunt is to build and enhance relationships with your teammates and familiarize yourself with the history and culture of your cohort neighborhood.
The Hunt
The scavenger hunt is a photo challenge. Teams will be provided with clues and tasks to take photos (using Twitter on your smartphones) at various locations in the neighborhood. Different clues have different point values. Teams should be strategic about clue selection.
Framework
You will work in your assigned groups (Financial Literacy Challenge groups) for the entire scavenger hunt. Your team name is COHORT + GROUP NUMBER (ex. FinancialDistrict1) If you do not know your group number, ask your Fellow to confirm.
Logistics
Check in with your CLP II Guides using your NYU ID no later than 8:55a.m. in your CLP II classroom. Students should sit with their teammates upon arrival. Fellows and CityHunt representatives will provide the information packet and clues to each scavenger hunt team. The scavenger hunt will take place until 11:00a.m. Students do not need to return to Stern after the hunt.
Rules
Scavenger hunt photos must be taken on one team members smartphone. Indicate the tweeting team members name and Twitter handle on the appropriate line on the Twitter Handle Form. Photos should be tweeted to @SternCLPII with the photo number in the text. (For example, a photo taken for clue number 3 should be tweeted as: 3 @SternCLPII) The Twitter Handle Form must be submitted to the Office of Student Engagement (Tisch 202) by 5:00pm on Friday, October 25. We recommend turning in the Form to your Fellow before embarking on the hunt. Teams must stay together during the entire competition. The last photo should be tweeted no later than 11:00am. No running. No sabotoge of other teams. The scavenger hunt clues were designed to facilitate collaboration within your teams without the use of technology, so we encourage you not to use the internet to solve the clues. Picture content must be appropriate for viewing by Stern faculty, administrators, and the NYU community. Violators of this rule will be subject to disciplinary action.
Scoring
The scavenger hunt photos will be reviewed and scored by Stern UC Leadership. The team with the highest number of points of all the cohorts wins. Dean Stimpfel (@ScottStimpfel) will tweet the link to the results of the scavenger hunt.
Tasks
The two tasks of the Twitter Challenge must be completed before 11:00a.m. One person from each team must use his/her smartphone to complete the challenge.
1. Show your NYU Stern pride by taking a picture of your team forming the letters NYU with your bodies or any items in your possession. The most creative photo will receive the highest number of points. Follow and tweet the photo to @SternUC. In the tweet, you must indicate your team name and use the hashtag, #IAmStern (ex. FinancialDistrict1 #IAmStern). 2. Show Dean Menon what #IAmStern means to you. Take a picture of your team using Stern swag. If you dont have Stern swag, make it! Pictures with the most creative use of Stern swag will receive the highest number of points. Follow and tweet the photo to @geeta_menon. In the tweet, you must indicate your team name and use the hashtag, #IAmStern (ex. FinancialDistrict1 #IAmStern).
The winning photo will be determined by Stern leadership based on creativity and adherence to the rules.
